HuntHarder replied to Coues Archer's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
I also use Kifaru. I have a nomad, DT2 and 22mag bags to choose from on a 26" composite stays frame. Super comfortable and handles weight with ease. -

Remington 7mm Rem mag long range for sale
HuntHarder replied to dcshorthairs's topic in The Campfire
Good deal here, nice looking rig. Were you able to get the stink of that badger off of the rifle? Those suckers are as smelly as they come. -
I have taken 2 coues with berger 185 VLD's. One was 540 yards and the other was 900 yards. My muzzle velocity is 2850 and so far the results have been pretty good. The one at 540 was shot in his bed and did not get up. I found 3 or 4 bullet fragments in opposite side hide and had the majority of the bullet exit. The one at 900 yards, the shot was about 4" back of where I intended to shoot and it also expanded and had similar results but not quite as much internal trauma. I have full confidence in them, but this year I will be trying some eld-x in a different caliber because my gun loves these things.

2015 Ram 2500 tires, rims, lugnuts, caps $100
HuntHarder replied to Couzer's topic in Classified Ads
LOL. The recall? I have had now 4 on my 2014 ram 2500. I think they just pump them out and worry about problems later. -
MT CAT nailed in saying this hunt is unique. Russ does the best he can with what he is dealt. I honestly think Russ is trying to knock down as many buffalo as he can, paying or not paying. Those of you who think he should not put a paying client on a better lick are very naive in life. He is between a rock and a hard place on this hunt but seems to still keep killing buffalo. If he only helps his paying clients, their success and everyone's success will go down. So he is inclined to help everyone and hope that guy's will appreciate that and get on board with his game plan. Going Rogue on this hunt is not the answer to killing a buffalo. I am sure it can be done, but it will the exception, not the rule. I think if everyone goes into this hunt knowing it is a unique hunt, everyone will be less inclined to be let down. In all the stories I have heard regarding Russ, more are positive than negative. Until the management of the herd changes, the hunt will continue to be challenging with it's own set of special circumstances.

Whats the longest youve left an Elk in the field
HuntHarder replied to trphyhntr's topic in Elk Hunting
I have mixed feelings on leaving game overnight. We had to do it once with an early season bull because we were not sure of the shot and had 0 blood in the first 100 yards of trailing. We ended up finding him the next morning first thing about 200 yards from where we stopped the night before. The meat was 95% fine with very little lost. Based on the amount of beds we found with tiny spots of blood in it, he bedded 3 times within those 300 yards. We think if we trailed him that night, we may have bumped him and might not have found him. So you have to weigh the risk/reward of pursuing an animal with a not so great shot in it. Would you rather find the animal and maybe lose a little meat, or would you rather lose the animal all together. In a perfect world he is laying dead when you first look for blood, but most of us have a story of a lost bull that was probably bumped by pursuing too early. -
Hmmmm ok. Im 5-11 and right at 200lbs. I am 5-10" 175lbs and wear size large in everything Kuiu. I would think you might need XL

Quit spending money on rifles and buy some food!

I have quite a bit of hunting clothes from different companies. Of the higher end stuff, I prefer Sitka over Kuiu and first lite. The pattern doesnt really matter to me as I usually try not to have matching uppers and bottoms, it is just a preference thing for me. I tend to wear solids as my bottoms and like Prana pants and Eddie Bauer guide pants. For the tops, the Sitka fits me much better. Kuiu uppers always tend to be short for me and I am not tall at 5' 10". When I put my arms in the air, my belly button just about pops out with Kuiu. The quality of Kuiu is great imo, I just prefer the fit of Sitka more. I will say that after wearing the higher end camo, it is almost impossible to wear my older camo. The new stuff is just so much more comfortable. While they are considerably more comfortable, they are also much more "delicate" than jeans and canvas style pants. I do not mind the trade off, it just gives me another reason to spend more money on camo when they wear out.

Thanks man, If I do not find one for a deal, I will buy one new by the end of July to have in time for hunting season.

I have a duplex with 3 different bags and love it. It is a 26" frame but I am considering getting a new hunter frame in 24". CJL2010- Do you notice any difference in comfort with old duplex vs. the new hunter frame? I have been keeping my eye on the Rokslide Classifieds for a 24" but I am not in a hurry because my duplex is pretty dang comfortable as is. On my nomad pack, I attached the badlands buttstock carrier to the bottom and use a lash kit up top to secure my rifle will packing in. I thought about doing the eberlestock scabbord, but I did not want to pick up all the extra weight associated with it. If you want your gun completely protected I like the scabbord idea, if not, a simply buttstock carrier attachment like the badlands or gun bearer works great.

I am looking for a Tikka in a WSM. I only need the action, figured I would start here and if no one has one, I will buy a new one. Thanks

That is good news. I always wondered why .277 never really had a large selection of long range bullets.

Nice looking bear, is that Point of Pines?

Running 12-2 romex instead of 14-2 gives you the ability to put the circuit on 20 amp breakers. This can be beneficial in some areas, but is completely over kill in others. Rather than having larger wire, simply add more circuits to each room. The biggest problem in most houses is to many outlets on one circuit. Lots of houses have both bathrooms on 1 20 amp breaker with a Single GFI protecting both. It is much better to have separate circuits for each bathroom to avoid overloading the circuit when a blow dryer is used in both bathrooms at the same time. Another huge problem with most houses is the lack of pig-tailing wires in each device box. Outlets give you the ability to feed in and out of them. This in turn, runs all the amperage of said circuit thru the actual device closest to the panel. It is a much better practice to pig tail the in and out runs in each box and have a single lead (i.e. hot leg, neutral and ground) going to the outlet this puts the outlet in parallel rather than series. Wiring a house in 10-2 IMO would be a complete waste of money and also make terminating to each device much more difficult if not impossible. Devices are rated for certain amperage, either 15a or 20a for most common receptacles. Using 10 gauge wire would mean you may not have enough screw left on the side of the outlet to fit 10 gauge wire behind it. Solid connections, limit the number of devices on each circuit, pig tail each device, avoid sharing neutrals and ensure you have a solid ground system at your panel (25 ohms or less) and your electrical system will be fine.

Do yourself a favor and do not use rigid at 6" deep. When/if the pipe corrodes or gets damaged, you will have to run new conduit again to re-pull new wire. Use EMT above ground and transition to schedule 40 PVC underground and bury it at 18" deep.
