Kifaru frame/pack, spotting scope and tripod
HuntHarder replied to HuntHarder's topic in Classified Ads
Thanks guys, there has been some interest but still no one committing yet. Figured I can not wear 2 packs at the same time, so I better get rid of one or I am verging on edge of being a gear hoarder. -
Chassis build finished .260
HuntHarder replied to azhuntnut's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Rifle looks great, I am really doing a great job of resisting a chassis rifle right now with all the black friday discounts. Nice looking rifle. -
I usually quarter, pack off the hill and then de-bone the meat in camp or at home. I think it is best to de-bone at home to cut down on the amount of dirt or hair that gets mixed in. I guess it is kind of hard to explain thru typing, but I look for the muscle seperations and try to get all the way down to the bone. I then, carve around the bone and the meet on rear quarters usually comes off in 1-3 major chunks. The front quarters are a little trickier and require more effort to get the meat off the scapula. It is similar to skinning the animal to remove the meat from the scapula. I grind up 80 % of all my meat personally. The only steaks I make are back straps and tender loins. I make as many roasts as I feel at the time and the rest goes into the grind pile. I have de-boned an animal with the quarters still attached, but I think it greatly increases the odds of getting hair and dirt all in meat. On javelina I will use this method because they are so small and I can usually hang them from a tree nearby and the meat stays pretty clean.

dang it! I like their pizza -
I have the 4 factory wheels that are 18" off of my 2014 ram 2500. If you can use them, let me know. Pick up in North Peoria.
-
TTT They are free to anyone who can use them, just need to pick them up.

I agree that there should be some sort of back up protection just in case something like this happens. Same thing happened to me 3 years ago during the spring draw. My card was cancelled 3 days before the draw and I forgot to update. As you said, Just glad it was Javelina and not elk, antelope, sheep or deer.
-
I am glad you realized it was your mistake and not theirs. To much blaming everyone else for your problems in this world. Way to take responsibility.

F Yeah, I drew achery Javelina in a trophy unit

I shoot the 145 eld-x @ 3180 fps in my WSM. Plenty of knock down and very flat shooting. I put a muzzle break on it and now it has very little recoil and great ballistics. For a hunting rifle, it is a great choice IMO. If you compare ballistics to the ever so popular 6.5 creedmoor, the WSM wins everywhere except recoil. The WSM kicks more, uses more powder and has a smaller choice on components. For a pure hunting rifle though, I like it.

If you have not, you will, it is just a matter of time...... Vortex = great warranty

Just having all the basics in stock would be nice. haha. Bullets, brass, primers, powder and some reloading tools.

I used shoe polish with great results. I over used it in fear of it not releasing, but I had 0 issues.

I had a case of tulammo 7.62x39 that came in a can like that.

I think this is mainly for Archery. You are allowed to hunt within a 1/4 mile of a building in most units, but there are a few that you are not allowed to. I think it started with all the Metro units but has slowly transitioned into more units.

You can buy the eyecups individually and install them yourself. Sportsmans's used to carry them, try and call them or the outdoorsman.

The bushes in the background grew quite a bit too in those 6 days

That's funny, I had a similar event with Aron. I emailed him and he emailed back his phone # and said call him. It was like 5:00 in the morning and when I called him, he said he was sitting on the side of a hill waiting for the sun to come up. Customer service is pretty top notch over there.

I am pretty sure their large model fits 15's. Email the owner, he is local here in phoenix and will answer your fit questions quickly.

The perfect pack for hunting coues.
HuntHarder replied to COA's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
It's hard to show the bags capability in pics unless I mount each one on the frame and stuff them. Look at kifaru.net and this is shown pretty good. They also have lots of YouTube videos. Pm me your # and I can text you some photos, they just won't show the bags as well as Kifaru's site does. -
I prefer the open style vs the completely enclosed cases. I think they are much easier to get out of the case if they are open on the sides. I have used the marsupial since it was released and I like it best out of the ones I have tried. (Kuiu, Sitka, AGC, and FHF) I think they all have their pros and cons, it just really comes down to what your preferences are.

The perfect pack for hunting coues.
HuntHarder replied to COA's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I use Kifaru and I have different bags that attach to the frame based on what my hunt will be. For a 3 day hunt, I use either the nomad or the 22mag. For longer hunts I would attach the DT2. Check them out, they are expensive, but well worth it with the lifetime warranty and made in the usa, not to mention the versatility of switching bags pretty quickly
