bad river bucks and birds -
He had the most to lose IMO in this whole ban. His operation on the north rim is very heavily based on trailcams.

Maybe we need members to attend some commission meetings and start crying, seem to work with trail cameras... SMH

So contradicting... Some guys go up and say it does not help in harvesting, then the next guy goes up and says it will make killing buffalo on the rim more difficult. -

Conserve and Protect (Tags) Presentation at G&F Mtg
HuntHarder replied to 40-year-AZ-hunter's topic in The Campfire
The way I understand it, the stamp and tag money could not be given away to any org and could not be used for political gains. That money would go to AZGFD and it could only be used for education. CAPAZ is backdoor promising that if they get tags, their donors will donate money directly to CAPAZ, unrelated from the money they would generate on the tag sales, and that money could be used for anything political. In other words, if you give them the chance to bid on tags, they will in return donate extra money to CAPAZ that could be used for anything CAPAZ felt they needed to use the money for. IMO, the plan is not very well thought out and more options should be brought to the table by CAPAZ. I may be wrong, but that is my understanding -

You are correct except for the stap fee. I agree with the concept but AZGFD cannot use monies it raises for political campaigns. So, who is getting the money from the raffle tags? Game and fish would get the money, but it could not be used to fight political foes. This is the unwritten promise of donors for CAPAZ stepping up and donating big sums to CAPAZ which could be used to fight anti's. -

You are correct except for the stap fee. I agree with the concept but AZGFD cannot use monies it raises for political campaigns. That is what I am wondering, Can G&F collect monies from a stamp and allocate it to different orgs to spend so they choose, i.e. fight anti's. I think they probably can not, so the stamp idea probably wouldn't work simply because the money collected could not be used for what we need it to be used for. Big Donors usually want something in return and tags is #1 on their list. No easy solution, but the only way I see making this work without tags is some kind of legislation change on how monies can be spent/ dispersed. -

So, just a recap, Pete was saying that the money from the tags would go to G&F, but if they get the tags, there would be additional donations from various members directly to CAPAZ. This money would be used to fight the anti's. I think this is what I have gathered. So the way I see it, if they do not get the tags, the members will not feel inclined to donate extra money to CAPAZ. This will basically leave us where we are right now with no money or not enough, to fight the anti's. If there was a way to designate a stamp and split the proceeds to go to education and also set aside some money for the fight, that we know is coming, this would be the way to go. I do not know if this is possible, but it sure sounds like a good solution to our problem. I am not completely against the tag idea, but i am also not for it. I think that should be a last ditch effort. I do not like the idea of give us tags and donations will pour in for the fight. Tough deal here for sure, but I do not think it is as easy as some think it is. -

I thought the whole issue is any money raised by Azgfd could not be used to fight radical groups like PETA. Am I missing something? I like the idea of a habitat stamp, but will that put the money in the hands of an org. that can actively fight against these invasive species or protesters? Can he add a stamp and designate the money to be used by an outside org.? -
Time to close all the highways, if we do not close them, idiots will continue to drag chains and burn our forests down. There is not enough troopers to patrol all the roads, enforcement is impossible.

The comparison to using a fish finder and using trail cameras is why this ban will probably go into effect. That has to be one of the most unintelligent comments I have heard yet. Do us all a favor and if you are going to speak up at these meetings, please think about what you are going to say before you go there. -
Any good Memorial Day sales? Post if you know.
HuntHarder replied to n2horns's topic in Classified Ads
The 100$ cabelas gift cards on Ebay were for sale @ 80$, limit 3. Pair that with the Active Junky Discount of 12% this weekend and you are getting a pretty good deal on most Items at Cabelas. I tend to load up on these gift cards and only buy stuff from Cabelas when it is on sale and I can stack my discounts to actually make it a really good deal. -
Well said!

I mean, with this logic of closing something because it is inevitable that an idiot will ruin it for us all, we might as well get rid of Alcohol too, because clearly some people ruin other people's lives because they can not follow the rules in place. It is impossible to enforce DUI 100%, however we still allow drinking. This is a very slippery slope in my eyes of letting the feds decide when we can use our forests. I do not subscribe to the " they know what is best for us" mentality.

Your right, it costs us a precious resource that we all strive to conserve.

Thanks Flatlander, you are correct. I am wrong. They won't enforce the no burn law. It is impossible.... Just like all other laws. We need a 1 for 1 ratio of police to citizens. Maybe we should close hunting seasons since there is clearly not enough wardens to enforce our game laws.

At least they left our lakes open to enjoy over the weekend. I figured big brother would close everything. I hope they issue 0 warnings this weekend in the open areas and give tickets like they are supposed to. Enforcement is the answer, not closing the forests entirely.

Cut Resistant Gloves for Field Dressing
HuntHarder replied to rossislider's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I use a very similar glove for work and will give you warning. They are cut resistant, but not stab resistant. Do not rely on them solely, but they are a great adder to the kill kit.
