Didn't you get a deer already in 3A/3C? I thought you had a tag in there earlier this year. Do these depredation hunts count toward your 1 deer a year quota? I have heard that these depredation tags are usually because landowners are complaining about nuissance animals. I would think AZGFD would give you some contacts of people who are complaining about the deer damaging their crops and the landowner would grant access to shoot said deer.

Yup, I think we need different levels of poaching as well. Some guys honestly make mistakes and shoot the wrong animal. While I still believe they should be punished, it should not be as severe as say someone who shot a deer in the wrong unit, used the wrong weapon and then tried to cover it up. I think aggravated poaching should carry much stiffer penalties.

I agree, I have looked thru a few Athlons and was not very impressed. There are very few scopes I would recommend a vortex over, but Athlon is one. The SWFA is probably your best bet in that price range. You could probably find a Leupold VX3i as well. It will have the best glass, but some say they do not hold true on tracking when dialing. I just started putting one thru the paces and so far 200ish shots it has held true. Time will tell.

If you think you will need them, Take them. I just got back from Alaska and decided to leave the spotters at home because of weight concerns and baggage fees. That was a mistake and I regretted it more than once.
