Tempting..

I used a vortex ranger once... I was not impressed. VERY hard to see the display when looking anywhere near the sun, and the distance ranging was non-existant past 600. Optics were dark. I know lots of people like to buy new, but used Leica's blow most of the new rangefinders out of the water. Even the LRF's are nice. My only complaint with them is the button is hard to push and thus makes it hard to range one handed while bowhunting. The CRF Leica's can be found for less than $400.

I appreciate the responses. So, would I be correct in saying the accuracy of a barrel will not be different for the first shot or 2 from a bull barrel to a sporter barrel. I understand the length needs to be there, but the diameter is basically an aid for the barrel not to heat up as quickly. I will use this gun for backpack hunts, so weight is an issue, but I do not want to sacrifice accuracy for a pound or 2.

From my experience, calling is one thing, make sure to email. This puts everything in writing, and leaves a paper trail. Hog hunts are big business, and they will say anything to get you there. I had an outfitter try to not include processing, even though it was clearly listed on the hunt we purchased.

Having set up numerous Texas hog hunts for myself and buddies, I will tell you that you will NOT make everyone happy. Easiest way to do it is gather best dates consensus, determine archery only or guns, and approximate spending limit. Narrow it down a ranch with available dates and then see who is really in... I know these are CWT members, but people will say they are in and have demands, and it will drag your process out further than it needs to drag. Another thing is get deposits from those going. It is inevitable that a guy will crap out last minute.

10x150! I think that is unanimous

Leica CRF is my favorite. Some good deals can be found on used models

LOL pics or it didn't happen!!!

I would guess next year. I doubt they have it start on the 9th, so it should start on the 16th.

lighter bullets take more powder to push them. I know it sounds opposite of what you would think. I would look at some 7rum load data, and try to go from there. Maybe look at difference from 300 rum to 7rum and go from there

I would try and locate a Nikon Ed82. Better picture than both scopes, super bright and will fall in your price range.

I wear my normal leather boots with a pair of turtle skin gaitors. They are very lightweight and not cumbersome like full length snake boots. I have yet to actually test them, and I hope I never have to.

Arizona Archery will get you fixed up ASAP

What is that like 3 days hunting for you?!!

Good job. Always good to have a guy in your pocket with dogs. Most that have never trailed dogs, do not understand what kind of hiking takes place. I swear those dogs do not know the meaning of TOO FAR!!. Another deer eater out of the desert!

Call Bret Prentice @ Game Trail Taxidermy. He is usually buying elk capes.

It isn't just an adapter to convert a window mount to the jim white plate system is it? I use something similar on my manfrotto set up. Is the bottom threaded? If so, it should screw onto ballheads to give a detachable plate.

I must admit, I shot the no camo HTR today, and I was kind of impressed. Super smooth draw with a very forgiving valley. Little to no hand shock after the shot. While it does not impress with speed, it is as fast as most of their other bows, and is pretty dang smooth. It will not make me switch over from my Monster Chill, but it impressed me a lot more than I thought it would!

3 months???? He must have tanned the hide himself? Average turn around time is 9-12 months. Most taxidermists wait until they get enough hides to send them all to the tannery at the same time.
