Good deal on powder for sure. Might be the 1st time in a while I have seen powder @ Bruno's under 30$.

I assume, which we all know what this could make me, that AZGF is telling the BP to not use infrared thermal imaging and tell hunters where the animals are. This is illegal and in their regs. I doubt that AZGF has a problem with border patrol telling guys where they see animals in general. On our last sheep hunt, I was encouraged by AZGF to talk to the BP in the area and get some of their knowledge about the animals in the area. I have no dog in this fight, just trying to interpret what was said already.

I have a Sig M400 Ar-15, that I love, but the trigger is terrible. I have tried all the methods of polishing, sanding and whatever else I can find online to make it better. It has gotten a little better, but not up to my standards. I am thinking of replacing it with a Timney 667. Does anyone have this trigger in their Ar? If so, what do you think of it? The timneys in my other rifles are great, so I expect this to be no different. Just figured I would get a few opinions before I drop 200$ on a new trigger.

Wanting to replace my Ar trigger
HuntHarder replied to HuntHarder's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I think you are right Wampuscat, it is a single stage trigger. Now that I know that, I am confident it is the worst trigger I have ever pulled. My AK has a better trigger in it. Thanks for the advice, and I will go and try a few nicer 2 stage triggers before I purchase one. -
Wanting to replace my Ar trigger

I am fairly new to the AR platform. I have always shot a single stage trigger, and think I would want a single stage trigger on my AR. I will only use this gun for coyotes and plinking. What is the advantage to a 2 stage trigger. I believe my stock trigger is 2 stage, and I hate the creep. Do all 2 stage triggers have the creep? hence the 2 stage. I have never heard of geissele, but after doing a little online research, they look like great triggers. Tons of options. -

Whole video is about his 2014 hunt!!! Idiot! I do not think he speaks English either, not sure what language it was. -
Cool looking wide buck. Nice!

Man... You guys are grilling him...

I am with original poster, I think he got Euro mount mixed up. Looks like used a few camo banana hammocks and stuffed em'.

The buck is " on the menu" for all. I do not hunt in Tucson, and your situation really sucks, but it is not fair to the buck to take the time to call you and have you come out to finish it off if it is wounded bad. He is obviously either dead or suffering a tremendous long agonizing death. IMO, anyone who finds him should dispatch of him ASAP and sort out the horns later... Good luck in your search, and I hope you find him before others do, thinking it is wrong of anyone else to dispatch of him is not an ethical thought process.

There is no way you tan a hide and get the mount done in 6 months!!! Not possible, Atleast that is what most taxidermists want you to believe. The truth is they hunt themselves, wait until they get a big batch of fur in, and then send them all to the tannery at the same time. I am constantly messing with my taxi about how long it takes a guy to complete a job that could be done in the half the time!!!

So I have a rifle sitting in my safe that has never been fired. I am planning to do a build on it, and was wanting some opinions and why on barrel contour. I see that most guys that build longer range rifles, use a heavy barrel. My last build I used a sporter barrel and it is very accurate. What are the pro's to using a heavier barrel? I know they do not heat up as fast, but this will be a hunting rifle, and if it heats up, chances are I am hotter than the barrel. I tend to hike away from crowds, and carrying the extra weight needs to be justified. Please tell me your reasoning for shooting a heavy barrel vs. a standard contour.

I have always understood it to be: You can use a dog to retrieve downed game. If at any point you discover the animal is not deceased, you must immediately pull the dogs off the trail and cease the pursuit using dogs.

That's awesome. As a game warden told me once... Ravens fly and Crows die!!! Easiest way to tell the difference.
-
It is the standard barrel contour and just the factory stock that came on the gun. The gun it came off of was a Howa 1500 in 300 WSM.

I used a vortex ranger once... I was not impressed. VERY hard to see the display when looking anywhere near the sun, and the distance ranging was non-existant past 600. Optics were dark. I know lots of people like to buy new, but used Leica's blow most of the new rangefinders out of the water. Even the LRF's are nice. My only complaint with them is the button is hard to push and thus makes it hard to range one handed while bowhunting. The CRF Leica's can be found for less than $400.

I appreciate the responses. So, would I be correct in saying the accuracy of a barrel will not be different for the first shot or 2 from a bull barrel to a sporter barrel. I understand the length needs to be there, but the diameter is basically an aid for the barrel not to heat up as quickly. I will use this gun for backpack hunts, so weight is an issue, but I do not want to sacrifice accuracy for a pound or 2.

From my experience, calling is one thing, make sure to email. This puts everything in writing, and leaves a paper trail. Hog hunts are big business, and they will say anything to get you there. I had an outfitter try to not include processing, even though it was clearly listed on the hunt we purchased.

Having set up numerous Texas hog hunts for myself and buddies, I will tell you that you will NOT make everyone happy. Easiest way to do it is gather best dates consensus, determine archery only or guns, and approximate spending limit. Narrow it down a ranch with available dates and then see who is really in... I know these are CWT members, but people will say they are in and have demands, and it will drag your process out further than it needs to drag. Another thing is get deposits from those going. It is inevitable that a guy will crap out last minute.
