finally first lion with a bow

Good job. Always good to have a guy in your pocket with dogs. Most that have never trailed dogs, do not understand what kind of hiking takes place. I swear those dogs do not know the meaning of TOO FAR!!. Another deer eater out of the desert!

    Jim White Head Question

It isn't just an adapter to convert a window mount to the jim white plate system is it? I use something similar on my manfrotto set up. Is the bottom threaded? If so, it should screw onto ballheads to give a detachable plate.

    Expired

I must admit, I shot the no camo HTR today, and I was kind of impressed. Super smooth draw with a very forgiving valley. Little to no hand shock after the shot. While it does not impress with speed, it is as fast as most of their other bows, and is pretty dang smooth. It will not make me switch over from my Monster Chill, but it impressed me a lot more than I thought it would!

    Asking for a progress pic?

3 months???? He must have tanned the hide himself? Average turn around time is 9-12 months. Most taxidermists wait until they get enough hides to send them all to the tannery at the same time.

    Turret Question

I just re- ran my numbers, and I come up with 9.2" drop difference from phoenix to 7000 ft. @ 700 yards. Maybe my software is wrong, but I know the elk did not think so. LOL As I said in our pm's Deserttacoma, Kenton turrets are load specific, but they do work for that given load. I know that this particular gun will be used 90% time where my turret is set up for, and it is spot on! If you are a little off while practicing, it is not a big deal so long as you group together. Lancetkenyon- I think you had one of your calculators on a 100 yard 0 instead of 200. Your drop differences for most of what you posted do not seem to jive with any calculator I try. I assure you, there is not 15" difference from phoenix to flag with a 270WSM @ 500.

    Mathews Monster Wake

I do not think this bow will make any "wake" Pun intended. Hmmm.. what a disappointment. I heard they were going to release this bow, and I expected something better than a 5" brace height. 355 fps. Well duh, I am pretty confident all bows with a 5" brace will go 355. LOL

    decision made. thx

Cz's with the set trigger are awesome! They sure do make some nice firearms. I love their semi auto 22lr. Super smooth and a nice piece of wood to boot!

    Turret Question

I have Kenton turrets for both wind and elevation. I find them to be plenty accurate enough both in the valley and up north. If you shoot out past 700 yards is when I notice a difference. But even then, it is manageable. In all of my calculations and testing, I find that my bullet drop is 5 inches different at 700. The windage turret from Kenton is awesome. I highly recommend it for quick windage adjustments. It is set for a 10 mile cross wind and you adjust according to the current conditions. We just knocked down 3 bulls all using the Kenton turret and all 3 were smoked. Farthest was 590 yards with an 8 mph crosswind.
  18. I think it is really easy for a guy with money to say double the price of tags. This is NOT a good solution. I have never had a problem paying for my tag, and I feel fortunate to not have had that problem. There are many, many families that do have problems getting their family's out to hunt because of funds. So, does this mean that only people with money should be able to hunt? heck NO, that will be the demise of hunting. I am from the belief of more trophy hunts vs. opportunity hunts. I know I am in the minority for sure. Let's get serious, most guys that go online to discuss hunting, probably take their hunting more serious than the average joe. Not aimed at you Average Joe. LOL. With that being said, the majority of the hunters in this state would rather hunt every other year than wait 8 years for a tag. A tag is exactly what you make it. Trophy caliber animals can be taken on ANY hunt. Do you homework, put your time in, and the results will speak for themselves. Look at some of the more well known guides. Is it a coincidence that they seem to take trophy animals on their own tags? I guess I am just sick of everyone saying to increase tag prices and cut tags. I wish AzGFD would do this and watch those same guys piss and moan until year's end. You think not having a tag every 10 years is bad, well, if they reduce tags, it will be every 15 years. In an average healthy life, you MIGHT get in 4 bull elk hunts. Those who complain, keep putting in for the top 10% tags in the state, and then wonder why they never get drawn..... It is not rocket science, look at Tjhunt2, he hunts elk darn near every year. Go to commission meetings and actually speak up if you have a problem with the current guidelines. Too many keyboard cowboys with the solution to all the wildlife problems.

0 restrictions on ML hunts in AZ. Game and fish usually alternate every other year on the 12AE ml deer hunt.
  22. Does anyone have a link? The pre-archery muzzleloader sounds like a good tag for the bow hunters. Let the muzzy guys chase them when they are pre-rut..

Firestone Load range E tires Updated W/ pics and price

Firestone TransForce Ht Size: 275/70/R18 Dimensions are: 33.2" tall and 10.83" wide.
  24. I have decided to upgrade my tires to some more aggressive mud terrain tires, so these must go. They came off of a 2014 ram 2500 and have 4k miles on them. They still look pretty much new with no signs of wear. The cheapest I have found them are on tirerack.com. New, tirerack sells 4 for $719.99 + $75.00. Tire spec is 275/70/R18 Load range E. I will sell them for $500.00 Reduced to $450.00, and trades considered. Tire dimensions are: 33.2" tall x 10.83" wide.

Thoughts and opinions needed / wanted

I would much rather have a sportsman's warehouse gift card vs. cabelas or basspro. Prices are considerably lower at sportsmans. But yes, a giftcard would work too.
