I am with you on that Lance. I found about the same results 50/50 split. I am going to load them, use them for practice and ditch them as soon as they start showing any signs.

Nice offer TJ. Hoss, you need to take him up on this, a tripod will really make a huge difference. You will find more game with the vortex diamondbacks on a tripod than you will with a pair of Swarovski's hand holding.

They are nice guns, for my preference, I would take my glocks over a polymer sig. The metal frame Sigs are awesome guns, and a step above their polymers. Grip is not comfortable for me.

I shoot a 300 wsm for my long range gun, and I love it! Having said that, I think you will, as I did run into problems shooting a 215gr bullet out of it. Not enough case capacity to get a good burn. My bullets were well into the cartridge and had powder around it. I settled on the 185 VLD and have had some great success with it. Good luck on your build, it looks like you are building a nice rig!

That makes sense. That would explain why there is so much m885 ammo around. Tooling is there and now is not being used for it's original intended purpose. The M885A1 ammo sounds like some serious stuff! Making the M16 relevant thru any type of barrier is tough to do. I am a huge fan of 7.62 x 39 over 5.56. I love my AR, but give me one weapon to take into battle, and I am grabbing my AK every time.

Standard issue to M&P. I understand that the average guy can buy this stuff, but it was really intended for M&P. Why does a target shooter or hunter really have a need for this particular round? Plenty of FMJ or HP or soft point ammo for plinking, and numerous bullet types for hunting. I understand the ideology behind give an inch and they take a mile, but this seems like pretty common sense stuff. My point in the above post was to understand why this ammo is made? Without using any angle on why it is made, just give facts. Was the reason this steel tipped ammo was manufactured to penetrate Kevlar? If so, keep it in the hands of M&P, and you and I have plenty of other ammo that will do the same thing, just not be manufactured with this intent. Buy bigger guns, and the bullet is irrelevant when going up against standard Kevlar!!

Ammo made for armor piercing is already banned, isn't it? So, I guess if this is designed to do that, I see no reason why anyone would need it other than M&P. I am usually against anything this administration does, but this might be something I finally understand. You and I both know that all of our high power rifles penetrate most Kevlar.

What is the point of the steel tip on the ammo? I am trying to understand why this ammo is even made? Most ammo is either FMJ or hollow point for plinking. Why the Steel?

FWIW, I had this same decision a few months ago and went with the ram 2500 with the new 6.4l Gas Hemi. Good power, decent gas mileage great truck so far! I drive a chevy 6.0 gas for work, IMO, that thing is a dog. The ram gets out of it's own way when I hit the gas pedal unlike the work truck!!

goinhuntn- NR can not draw a tag for early archery in 8 unless they are in the bonus point pass. Over the last 5 years, the bonus point pass has been 8-9 points. All non-res tags are allocated thru the bonus pass for early archery in this unit. As far as late archery, I doubt there will ever be any left over permits for 8 after bonus and 1-2 pass, so NR have 0% chance of drawing in your first scenario. your dad- had about a 22% chance of drawing the late rifle bull hunt in 8 last year. So should be close to that again this year. Again, probably no left overs to consider his 3rd, 4th and 5th.

The reason some guys put the same # for the 1st and 2nd, is because that is the hunt they want, and maybe their 3rd choice falls in the BP phase. If their 3rd falls in bonus point, and their 1st. doesn't, then their 1st would not even be looked at had he of put it down as his second choice. By putting it as 3rd, it is not considered in the bonus point pass. In the rare event, their are left over tags from the 1st and 2nd pass, he still has a chance at drawing it on the 3,4,5 pass. Hopefully this makes sense.

Marc is a top notch Taxidermists. I too have an antelope @ the Taxi with the same question. I looked all over online for habitat with a wall pedestal, but I personally think they all look weird. I think I am going to go with just the pedestal and no habitat. All the habitat I have found that I liked, are all floor pedestals. Your buck is a stud, and you should definitely keep the ear tag. Goes with the story and history of the animal. I will watch this thread to get ideas for mine as well. PS. That African antelope wall pedestal is awesome!! Too bad my pronghorn wasn't from Africa, those spears and shield make that mount POP!
