I'd definitely be game to meet a bunch of you guys. I haven't seen any stickers on my side of town yet.

Just seeing if anybody else had any luck with an elk tag. I finally shot my first elk and my first kill with a bow!
-
It might have been my truck in 6A north. I have a sticker on a gold Toyota Tacoma. I also live in Gilbert.(Greenfield and Baseline).

I hear that the WB wear the vanes out quickly. Would the blazer vanes help? How do those work with broadheads? I talked to a guy that shot his new bow three times and the vanes looked horrible from the WB.

I use an API stand. I've been using it for years and it is easy to climb, quiet, and light. The shoulder straps suck so you'd want to get the padded ones from sportsman's warehouse or cabelas.

Here is the pic of the cow I shot
-
I shot my cow on opening morning at about 30 yds. My buddy called in a small bull with the Hoochie Mama at about 6:15. He got within about 50 yds and winded him and bolted. About 5 min later the cow came from the opposite way and he was facing the other way in his tree stand. We were spaced about 100 yds apart. She came in as silent as a mouse and I drew. She stayed behind a tree for what seemed like 30 minutes (more like 45 sec or so) and as my bicep started cramping she finally stepped out. She only gave me a shot of her neck and shoulders. Another step and she would have made my buddy in the tree. I shot and hit where her neck meets her shoulder. SHE DROPPED IN HER TRACKS! Talk about an easy tracking job! She weighed about 500 LBS. I think she was a lead cow cause she was huge! We were able to get the quad with the winch down but she was heavier than the quad! The whole front end of the quad came off the ground as we tried to winch her up.

My best day was when I took my first coues buck 3 years ago. The next best day will be when I shoot my first elk and get my first kill with my bow in a week!!!

The guys I hunt with had their camp set on fire in 6A on the archery elk hunt by some of these yahoos. It was several years ago and I'm not sure on the details but they never caught who did it, but those idiots were out there giving all the hunters a hard time. -
That has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. It makes me sick. I wonder if the guy from Montgomery Gentry put a bid on that "hunt"!

Hey Buddy, can you spare some change?

az4life, good luck with everything and make sure to send us some pics of those big carp in WY! -
I live in Gibert and my spot up north is about 2 1/2 hrs and my coues spot down south is over 4

Awesome coues buck man! My elk hunt is 2 weeks away and I'm already losing sleep thinking about it!

Oh my God!!!!! Great , now I have to clean off my computer screen. Got me a little exited there. It's hard to type with one hand!
-
Congrats on the lopers! Man I can't wait to get out there and hunt!
-
My Buddy and the 3 other guys in his party pulled 4 record book bears out of San Carlos. Guess those $1000 tags were worth it! I think he said his measured 21"
-
Redbeard, You couldn't have said it better. I guess what you have to ask yourself is whether you would rather brag about killing a 100" coues buck at 90 yds, or brag about being a good enough hunter to get within 15 yds? For me, I'd rather be closer to an animal like that.
-
You don't like the rack she has? Since you put it that way...
-
I think the Paris Hilton idea would be great! If we could just put some antlers on her.....
-
I got a drop away rest for my bow, as well as a new peep and arrows. Close to buying a rangefinder and of course some more clothes to add to my collection.

Anybody have advice on a spotting scope that doesn't weigh as much as a truck tire? Those swaros are great, the best of the best, but they are about 3 ft long and weigh 10 lbs. Maybe a compact scope of some kind.

I have always concentrated on finding deer in or around the shin daggers. Coues like to bed down in them for some reason. Glass and watch the deer til they bed in the daggers, then plan your stalk.

Awesome link! Its funny how a couple of little things can have a substantial impact on consistency.

If anyone would like to go to Usery Pass, I'm usually there every Sunday early morning or Friday afternoons.
