I took my elk in to Coconino Meats in Flagstaff this year and I had it back in two weeks and he did a great job as far as I can tell.

I just bought the 2200 with some Christmas money as well. Its my first backpack of any size. I love it and it carries just about everything I need for the day. I will be putting it to the test this month with my javi hunt.

I thought they looked familiar. I've hunted the west side of the galiuros off of Gamez road. That particular mountain looks like where I killed my first buck. Great pics! -
Let's see some pics and here the story! Congrats. Sounds like a unique buck.

That's a sweet buck! Without giving too much info, what part of 6A did you get it in? North, South?
-
We could call it " The Ulmer"
-
That's a great buck. I hope I get an oportunity to try and scare off a deer like that!
-
I have yet to arrow a deer as well. I've got a pig tag for Jan, ( actually deer hunting, but if I cross a pig, he's gonna git it. ) I just got my first kill with a bow, a cow elk this past september, so if I see as so much as a nuckle on a deer's head, I'm flingin an arrow!
-
That's a boomer for sure! Congrats on an awesome trophy!
-
I hope they wait til january to start ruttin cuz that'll give me glimmer of hope to get close enough to scare one off!
-
If you want to shoot a spike, shoot a spike. If you want to hold out for a 110" boomer, then hold out. To each his own.
-
Hey Parothead, I think thats a pretty good idea. Make a Dec hunt a "trophy" hunt, and the oct nov hunts with no restrictions For the people who want some meat for the freezer.
-
I don't know any facts about what science has proven, but I believe that it comes down to what limits you put on yourself. If someone wants to go out and kill a spike or 2 point, they taste better anyway. If someone wants to hold out for a 110" monster, they look better on the wall. I have enough cow elk and deer meat in my freezer to feed a small country, but nothing on my wall. Bring on the big 'inz.

Well, I used to hunt the Mount Ord area about ten years ago, and just within the last few months have been back there scouting for my pig hunt. I've gotten to know the area pretty well. Let me know if you're gonna be up there in January, maybe we can meet up to chat. I've never hunted down towards Tonto Basin. How is the coues population there? I've thought about checking things out over that way, but just haven't had the time.
