What size is the hunter safety system?

Thanks for all the comments. Found this buck on opening day of the Utah archery season and hunted him every chance I got since. Got a shot at him with my bow a couple of weeks ago but nerves kicked in and shot right over his back. He became almost nocturnal and wouldn't feed out until right at dark. Made numerous attempts to get into bow range on him after glassing him up in the evening but could never get from up high where I could glass him up to him before it got dark. There was never a sign of him in the morning. Finally resorted to carrying the rifle and shot him last Saturday evening from 513 yards. He is 29" wide. It is amazing that he hadn't rubbed yet. His velvet is in perfect shape.

Spent every spare minute hunting this guy since August 20th. It all came together last night.

Anyone hunt Bears in Alaska?
PCHunter replied to Big Browns's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I did it last year. We used a "transporter" that had an 80' boat we stayed on and a smaller boat he ran us around on. We hunted Prince William Sound. It was a great trip and very reasonable. The guy we used sold his boat this spring though. I'll PM you my number. Feel free to give me a call. -
Got the rug back. Stephan Woolstenhulme at Summit Taxidermy did an outstanding job!

Any good tag is a draw although there are several extended archery areas that have a long season and are over the counter. This was a landowner tag so I was able to start bow hunting mid-August and hunt through the end of October.

It was DIY non-resident but I have a buddy who lives in Anchorage that I went with. Flew into Anchorage the Thursday before Memorial Day and spent the night. My buddy and his son picked me up Friday morning and we drove down to Whittier where we met up with a "transporter" who had a large boat we stayed on and a small boat he hauled us around on. As a transporter, he is not allowed to guide or give advice to hunters. He only housed us and took us where we asked to go. He would drop us off about 7 AM and pick us up about 9:30 PM. Glassed this guy up about a mile away around 2:00 PM on Monday. He was feeding in an avalanche chute. Hustled down there and took me a while to find him again as he had moved up the canyon into another chute. Got across the canyon from him and made a 454 yard shot on him. He ran about 20 yards and went down. Got him back to where the boat picked us up at 11:30 that night. Went back in there the next day and glassed up two bears in different spots right at the snow line in the same drainage. We got within 375 yards of one of them and my buddy's son shot at him but couldn't hit him. Went to a different spot on Wednesday and glassed up 3 more bears but they were moving and we couldn't get in in on them. Transporter hauled us back to Whittier on Thursday and flew home that evening. It was a blast. That is awesome country.

Prince William Sound bear killed on Memorial Day.

Shot the bull in my avatar with a rage last fall. He was quartering toward me and arrow went in behind the shoulder and exited just in front of the hip, completely passing through at 55 yards? He didn't go 100 yards.

Congratulations! Your life will never be the same again in a very good way!

Any idea exactly where it is? Our cabin is SE of Luna Lake!

I'm jealous. Now that I'm not an AZ resident anymore it will probably take me years to draw another archery bull tag. You'll find bulls like that on your hunt.

You never know. I drew a rocky tag 5 years after the desert tag.
