Anyone have one of these?

I may not necessarily agree with you but I like your attitude.

I use www.hunterstrailhead.com $24.95 per year There are other places as well

Well then they must have done it right because they didn't turn in their tags. Against my advice, they held on to their tags (2) and did not hunt at all. These were older gentlemen in their sixties & seventies each had 5 points.
-
What about if you blow your engine the day before thanksgiving pulling your trailer up sunset point on the way to 5B late rifle elk hunt? Is it ok to turn your tag in then?

Never talk ethics, religion and politics in mixed company.

Because I am not the most mechanically inclined person all my fixes look and sound like what has been described so far. Maybe I have some hidden talent and didn't even know it? My dad was from Arkansas and mom West Virginia so you might say I have some red neck in me.

This year is unit 5B south and next year is unit 22 again. I was hoping they would rotate more units but it looks like it is unit 22, 7, 3a3c and 5B.

azgfd payson meeting dec 4th as told by "payson round up"
knothead replied to JLW's topic in The Campfire
Hunting around homes and buildings is kind of like road hunting to me. I don't look forward to hunting all year long so I can drive around, set the beer down, hop out of the truck and shoot something with my bow & arrow. Hunting around homes and where people live would be too anti-climatic. I want to be in the outdoors and hopefully not see any sign of civilization instead of dodging dog walkers. Do people really want to kill something so bad they would shoot it with some of grannies annuals hanging out the side of it's mouth? To each their own I guess but that is not my idea of hunting. I was also told the straw that broke the camels back and why they put the 1/4 mile rule in was because of the archers killing deer and antelope around Prescott Valley homes & businesses. Something about an antelope killed right next to a children's playground if memory serves me. All these G&F meetings are really for show IMO. Game and Fish has a budget and expenses. They know they need to sell so many tags, application fees, point guards and licenses to pay those bills. The only changes or recommendations they would ever consider are things that add $ to their bottom line or things that don't take from their bottom line. The world is run by bean counters. -
In the late 70's a good friend of mine growing up father was BWM. His full time job was a Lieutenant on the PHX PD. He would always take his vacation time leading up to this ride from Williams to Phoenix so he could grow his beard out. These were some of the craziest yet coolest guys you could ever be around. These guys we so honorable and truthful that they made a HUGE impression on me at such and early age. My HS friend told me in order to get in you had to be invited by a current member. If the other members did not like and approve of the new guy being recommended then the guy that made the recommendation would be removed. This made the selection process very limited and kept the ranks filled with guys like themselves with same values and sense of service.

You chose the peoples republic of Kalifornia over Wyoming and Gods country?! Now I'm really suspicious. Any relation to Chuck Schwiebert that used to teach marketing at Greenway HS here in AZ?

One of the things on your list is what I'm looking for and you are probably a great guy but I've been burned before. Without history or the ability to view in person I am going to pass.

The picture of your girls with the buck is a classic. Congratulations for what looks like a great family.

They have been doing this for about 3 years now. They rotate one unit each year to have a early muzzy hunt one week before an archery hunt. This year it was 3a/3c, last year 7w and I believe the year before it was unit 22. I noticed the 2021 season it is unit 22 again. It is tempting but my wife's b-day is 9/28 and that is an argument I would rather not have.

Pretty sad really. I'm afraid to say it but antelope is going to become a once in a lifetime species like bighorn sheep and buffalo. The odds of drawing are about like sheep anyway.

I recently purchased a 2018 Polaris General 4 that had 325 miles on it and really like it so far. If I had to describe one thing I wish I could change about it, I wish it was a little more quiet. To the people that say negative things about Polaris reliability I say just the opposite. I still have a sportsman 400 that I bought new in 2001 and I just sold my 2005 Ranger 500 in order to buy this General. Other than regular maintenance I have never had to buy anything to keep them going. They never left me stranded and have always been very dependable. I do all the maintenance myself except for replacing the belts and just put new ball joints on the Ranger before I sold it. I use my stuff but I don't abuse it. Always store in garage. Happy Trails!

My son just bought a very clean 2015 4 door prerunner with 75k miles and paid 22K. Every dealership we talked to said they are the hottest used vehicle on the market. They will not budge on their asking price because they know they will get what they are asking. Son shopped for about two months before he found this one. Good luck with your search.

Worked at Smitty's for 4 1/2 years 1981-85 while going to college. It was a great place to work and I learned so much about people and customer service. Some of my best friends I made while working there and we are still very close 35 years later. Marvin Zieser aka "stickflicker" and I worked together at Smitty's store #6 on 35th ave and Peoria. Even met my wife at store #8 83rd ave and Peoria. My all time favorite day to work was Christmas Eve. We had so much fun selling guns and other sporting goods. The lines were long and people were in the holiday spirit. Smitty's would have some great sales on guns. Was not uncommon to have sales of 33% off all guns in stock. Was definitely a more friendlier & simpler time. Good luck with the gun sale. Free bump

Used to sale the heck out of those things when I worked at Smitty's in the sporting goods dept. I have the mark II bull barrel. Great guns!

My son drew this same hunt but had to turn tag in to game & fish because he had a work change. I scouted it a couple weeks ago and my experience was much like yours. In 2 1/2 days I saw a total of two deer. A single spike along walnut creek jumped across the road in front of me as I was leaving to head home and a quick glimps of a deer in those private pastures along walnut creek. All the real fresh sign I found was right along the creek. This unit is my old stomping grounds and where I cut my teeth deer hunting back in the late 70's. 17a was our go to unit thoughout 80's and 90's. Very disappointed in what it has become even with the new management plan in place. See way more bear & elk sign than I ever used to. I have walked up top to juniper mesa from the south and from the north but I never knew there was a road you could drive on to get up top. I thought it was wilderness and no motorized vehicles allowed? The first two elk I ever saw in 17a was around 1986 on top of the mesa. A calf elk had gotten in one of the cattle catch pens and couldn't figure how to get out. Mamma was pacing on the other side trying to get it to come over two her. We were on horses and rode right up to them. Good Luck!

Finally drew another spring turkey tag after not drawing for last 3 years. Also drew my 1st choice HAM Javelina. Son applied separately and drew the same hunts. Should be a good spring.
