Worked at Smitty's for 4 1/2 years 1981-85 while going to college. It was a great place to work and I learned so much about people and customer service. Some of my best friends I made while working there and we are still very close 35 years later. Marvin Zieser aka "stickflicker" and I worked together at Smitty's store #6 on 35th ave and Peoria. Even met my wife at store #8 83rd ave and Peoria. My all time favorite day to work was Christmas Eve. We had so much fun selling guns and other sporting goods. The lines were long and people were in the holiday spirit. Smitty's would have some great sales on guns. Was not uncommon to have sales of 33% off all guns in stock. Was definitely a more friendlier & simpler time. Good luck with the gun sale. Free bump

Used to sale the heck out of those things when I worked at Smitty's in the sporting goods dept. I have the mark II bull barrel. Great guns!

My son drew this same hunt but had to turn tag in to game & fish because he had a work change. I scouted it a couple weeks ago and my experience was much like yours. In 2 1/2 days I saw a total of two deer. A single spike along walnut creek jumped across the road in front of me as I was leaving to head home and a quick glimps of a deer in those private pastures along walnut creek. All the real fresh sign I found was right along the creek. This unit is my old stomping grounds and where I cut my teeth deer hunting back in the late 70's. 17a was our go to unit thoughout 80's and 90's. Very disappointed in what it has become even with the new management plan in place. See way more bear & elk sign than I ever used to. I have walked up top to juniper mesa from the south and from the north but I never knew there was a road you could drive on to get up top. I thought it was wilderness and no motorized vehicles allowed? The first two elk I ever saw in 17a was around 1986 on top of the mesa. A calf elk had gotten in one of the cattle catch pens and couldn't figure how to get out. Mamma was pacing on the other side trying to get it to come over two her. We were on horses and rode right up to them. Good Luck!

Finally drew another spring turkey tag after not drawing for last 3 years. Also drew my 1st choice HAM Javelina. Son applied separately and drew the same hunts. Should be a good spring.

Of all the ford trucks, this is my favorite year and model. -
Reminds me of the old kachina archery league days of late 70's.

Not sure if I am reaching for the stars here but I am looking for a half windshield, in good condition, for my 2005 Polaris Ranger 500. If you have one you are interested in selling, give me a text message. John 623-680-4458 North Peoria

Somebody buy this gun and then trade it for my 12ga 1100. I prefer shooting 20 guages.

G&F has expenses. They need to sell enough tags, licenses, point guards to pay those expenses. Remember, they get no $ from the states general fund.

Start by cutting all cow hunt permits by 1/2. While we are on the subject cut the Jr. only doe hunts in 12A in half also. Stop killing the baby makers.

Don't want to hijack thread but every time I think I want to buy a diesel I read something like this and have 2nd thoughts. The auto teacher at the school I work at used to be a ford diesel mechanic at a dealership in southern AZ. He told me the average repair job of a diesel was $5,500. I have always wanted a dodge 2500 cummins in 2003-10 years. Good luck with the fix. Vehicle mechanical problems suck.

This will be the best thing for the habitat and deer when it is all said and done. I'm hoping more of 17a burns. -

Much respect for the guys that do it old school and without the help of pros. I look forward to the reports back. Good Luck! -
I switched to these last year and have been very impressed with their comfort and durability. I would not consider these a cold weather boot.

I live in Peoria and prefer to go through Bagdad when I go to that part of the unit. A lot less traffic and congestion compared to the I-17/prescott valley/prescott route.

2003 Starcraft Starblazer overhead pop-up truck camper

Everything worked when I bought it 4 years ago but to be honest I have never used the heater or fridge/freezer. I only used the camper for short 1 or 2 night trips in warm to mild temps. The stove is a 3 burner and the camper comes stocked with pots, pans and dishes. All ready to. It does not have a toilet. -
Even if you buy your tires someplace other than discount they will sell you certificates for them as long as it is a tire they sell and it has a certain amount of tread on them. They tried to sell me certs on some two year old BFG KO2's a while back. If you shop at discount, ask for the friends and family discount. I'm in the market for tires right now so this topic is useful.

I just won this bow over the weekend at the Mormon Lake shoot. It is brand new and has never been shot. This is a RH Quest Storm 30-60 lb, 23-27.5 draw, 31 inches in length and 3.3 lbs. The bow is probably better suited for a Teen, woman or a smaller man. $275. John Peoria 623-680-4458
