Fruit usually doesn't fall far from the tree.

Dave, Something tells me Lindy is looking forward to you going turkey hunting in 12A as much as you are....... maybe more. Don't let Dave fool you. His wife is very laid back. Good Luck

I have the 2nd hunt so I'm hoping a miracle vaccine drops down upon us before April 11th. As far as getting a refund or at least a tag next year goes I sent in my 2021 spring turkey money back in February. So San Carlos Apache Tribe has $480 of mine already. No name calling or hard feelings I just want to call turkeys & hunt.

I guess I need to start playing golf again because it is still allowed. I can only afford one expensive habit.

Well that sucks. My question is what is the their rationing when they made this decision? Being out in nature is what we should all be doing. What's up with their website? It's been down for months.

Not sure if it is open now but when my boys were hunting the Jr. OTC turkey hunts they used to open the road the day before the season started on Thursday morning. Many years we were the first ones in our hunting area.

I haven't heard anything but I have the 2nd hunt that opens April 11th. Not sure why they would close it because I rarely see a soul when I am on the res. They have social distancing down to a science.

Anyone been around lake Mary or Ashurst lake in the last day or two? How much snow is still on the ground or has much of it melted already?

You have a much better chance of keeping your feet dry if you wear gaiters. When your pant legs get wet, the moisture seeps down your socks into your feet. Believe me, gaiters are great in snow, rain, or walking in talk grass with dew.

Using salt and cameras to locate a specific buck
knothead replied to LonePineOutdoors_AZ's topic in Coues Biology
Don't really want to change subject but this kind of relates. How close do you put salt licks to one another? Is 1/4 mile to close. I would rather have one good salt lick location than 3 or 4 so so locations. Strictly archery most likely from a double bull blind. Thanks for replies. -
I agree turkeys are everywhere in the unit but I think I see more in the lower country that has draws with roosting trees. I once counted a flock of 47 turkeys and drove about 3/4 mile further and saw another flock with 20+ birds. Mind you, this was in the fall and not spring.

I have a couple leaks and need a roofer. Do we have a ph#? I live in North Peoria.

I have a NR relative with 9 points that accidentally put 5a antlerless instead of 5a bull. Low and behold, he got drawn. He is going to be using his point guard turning tag back in so somebody is going to get to go hunting but just doesn't know it yet.

I think there are a number of things they could do to make it more user friendly. The first thing I would change is the redundancy of having to enter the same info in multiple times. I thought one of the purposes of the portal account was so they have an electronic record of each hunter? The portal accounts are rather useless in my opinion because you can just call G&F 24/7 and get all your point info. A back up credit card number would be the second thing I would change. Never have had a need for it but I would be pissed if something ever happened due to a compromised card. The drop box idea sounds like a good idea. I don't and have not applied for many other states but Wyoming's online application system is much less cumbersome than AZ's. Nevada's was a piece of cake too.

All cards are processed on the same day however some cards do not show up as charges for 2-3 days. This has more to do with card company & not G&F. You can always call your card Co. and ask if you have any pending charges. You will also hear about some people getting "hits" over the next week or so. These people are the lucky recipients of a tag that was forfeited by some poor bloat(s) whose card was rejected. Lastly, It would be wise to call your card company 2-3 days before G&F charges cards and tell them you are expecting charges from AZ G&F and to let them charge your card. They will put an electronic note in your account folder. Good luck to everyone that drew a tag this year.

My son will be graduating from UofA in the next 9 months and I was thinking of getting him an AR for a graduation gift. I was considering a build but not sure what I am getting into. I'm thinking my budget will be around $800. Is it reasonable to even consider this? The gun will be used more for varmint calling so I want the .223. As a person who is primarily an archer, I need some guidance and help as I have no idea what is involved. Anyone that has experience building guns want to chime in?

With regard to mule deer and 6a my experience has been the closer you are to cabins, homes or civilization the high number of deer you will see. I've often thought it was odd the further I get away from people and civilization the more mule deer I should see but I don't. Like already mentioned, I usually see less mule deer in remote places.

Love my sportsman 400 that I got brand new on fathers day 2001. Zero issues ever just regular maintenance. Good luck with the sale

Restrictions on hunting over water and trail camera use.
knothead replied to azhunter23's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
First I heard of this but I know quite a few hunters who would support a game camera ban from July 31st - Dec. 31st. -
I told my son's that Colt Pythons were like fraternities. The only people who say anything negative about them are the people who never owned one or were in one.

There were only 4 of us that worked in the sporting goods department. Tim was the manager, a full timer named Carl and two part timers of which I was one. I'm sure we would have met because being PT I closed almost every Friday, Saturday night and worked Sunday because it was time and half. We had so many regulars back then that we new more than half of our customers by first name or we new something about them. If you find one of those receipts and see the name John Hay on it then I sold you that gun. That was something like 37-38 years ago. Crazy stuff

Yes, I worked in the sporting goods dept at 83rd ave and grand from 81-83, 35th ave and peoria from 84-85 and I finished my last 6 months at main office. Smitty's was very good to me and made a lot of very good friends while working there. You are right, we used to special order all kinds of guns/merchandise for people at the grand ave store. The manager, Tim Tekulve, used to love special orders and he encouraged all of us to help the customers get whatever they wanted. Tim was and still is a great salesman and he taught me a ton about people and how to treat them to make them a loyal customer. Good guy.

I had a 6" blue python that I bought in 1983 at Smitty's for $305 or something near there. When I was in college I needed money for rent and I sold it for $450. Listed it in az republic classifieds for Saturday and Sunday and the phone started ringing at 5:00 am. First guy bought it and I have always regretted selling it and that is why I'm happy to see they are making it again. Besides looking bad butt they were always the smoothest action revolver made straight from factory. I got my name on the wait list this time. I'm guessing since Colt stopped making the AR's they are bringing back something they never should have stopped making to begin with.
