I posted in the classified section, but thought I would post here as well..... Anyone know of any feed stores or other places in the valley that sell mature quail (most likely bobwhites) that can be used for training purposes? I have found online retailers that sell day old chicks and eggs, but would prefer not to raise them if I don't have to.

Wondering if there is any water that you guys would stay away from even with a hand pump purifier? I have come across some stock tanks that look pretty disturbing.

Unit 5B Volunteer Opportunity
AmericanThunder replied to AmericanThunder's topic in Conservation Group Events
I am not very familiar with the area, so I am not sure. -
The Arizona chapter of the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers is helping out the AZGFD with a volunteer project on July 12th. Read the info below and let us know if you can make it out. We would love to have you! We could use assistance from a few volunteers on Tuesday, July 12th near Happy Jack (GMU 5B). Some years ago, 5,700 acres around Tremaine and Hay Lakes were designated a road-less area to protect the wetland habitat. There have been issues with people driving into the foot-access-only area. USFS, AGFD, and the rancher believe improving the signs and gates at 6 sites will make a big difference. On Tuesday, July 12th, we will shoot for getting up to 3 of the sites done. The project will involve replacing the wire “cowboy” gates with 5-rail swinging gates, installing walk-thru gates, and installing related signs to better inform the public of the access restrictions. Although there are existing posts which we can work off of, each site will require pounding in a small number of fence/sign posts, digging a few post holes, mixing concrete, and stringing very short stretches of fence wire. I should have all the required tools, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own if they want. The plan is to start at 8:00 am at the first site. Directions: Take State Route 87 to milepost 299 (which is northeast of Clint’s Well). Turn north onto FS 211 (as if heading to Long Lake) and take that 3 miles. Turn right onto FS 82 and take that 7.7 miles. The old sign and gate will be visible on the left with a little 2-track road leading to it. For this project, we probably only need up to 4 volunteers. Contact Jarrett Babincscak for more info. 602-540-3130 jarrett@backcountryhunters.org

The best "diet" is the one you can stick to. Paleo, South Beach, Mediterranean, etc. are all the same S@#$ just different toilet. If you just use some common sense and stick to what you know is good for you and eat in moderation you will see results. Also, don't fall for the natural is always better mantra being preached nowadays. Organic is a marketing term nothing else.

Great video!

Probably right.

Haven't got it yet. I never hunt alone and have friends with other GPS's as a back up so I think i'm still good with the SE.

I think I am convinced enough to get one. I settled on the SE version because I already have a Rhino that I use for topos and way points. jp - How has the battery life been on yours?
-
heck yeah.

That would be awesome. Thank you! Do you pay for the whole year, or just when you think you will need to use it? From what I could tell on their website it looks like you can pay for 30 days of service at a time for a higher monthly fee. I just wonder in the long term how that breaks down and what is more cost effective?

Banquets Raffles Banquets Raffles Banquets Raffles
AmericanThunder replied to elkaholic's topic in The Campfire
I know the mule deer foundation is thinking about combining some of their chapter banquets so there aren't so many individual ones to help with this exact issue. -
I have a dog from TKO and would recommend them as well. They are great! http://topknotoutfitters.myshopify.com/

You are missing out on some good eating if you don't pluck dove and quail. Skin gets so crispy. Tedious, but worth it.
