O trust me I know where the deer are out there. Been watching a few bucks for the last 2 to 3 months. I was just curious if anyone had luck and....... one of the bucks I was watching seem to disappeare lol. Maybe a member on here took him.Are you seeing any rut activity yet? Getting ready for January archery in another unit

I did the same thing this year. Had bucks all over. Clean up close shot and I totally missed lol. Cried the entire mile walk back to the truck. So embarassing

Worth buying a pellet gun or hold out for a shotgun?
khmer6 replied to cwnova's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I picked up some HR pumps (870 clones) at Walmart for 88 dollars ealier this year. Worth it over a pellet gun -
Also if you are looking at budget guns don't count out the Remington 700 ADL. Heck of a gun for the price and still a 700 action. Remington is doing a 50 rebate on top of the low price. Walmart usually does 20% off for the three days after Thanksgiving. Comes out to about 250 for a Remington 700 with cheap but usable scope :-O

Great rifles for the money. Dicks has it for 199 after rebates for black Friday. A couple of months ago my walmart had the axis II with accutrigger for only 199 and then a 50 rebate on top of that. 150 bucks for a savage with accutrigger and weaver kaspa scope pretty good deal but it was in 243. Not a caliber I need

Depends when they get sent to retailers. If I remember 2 years ago it was a huge FIASCO because a lot of the changes and the license restructure. People had to go to the office to get their tags, and very few places had the books even in the new year most were small town places. I was thinking the same thing since I want to get out Dec 31 for the first light! Anyone remember if last year (2015) tags were available to purchase in 2014 at major retailers?

Stick on wheel weights are soft enough. Good luck getting any though. What you want is roofing lead or plumbing lead. Some xray lead is good for ml too. I have rolls of soft lead for making the front stuffer. Wheel weights go to the pistols and rifles

The "gutless method" could still have a lot of the hide and guts intact. But I guess they forgot to take the back straps & tenderloins? That sucks. Best eating. I came across a butchered cow this weekend in 21 by the smell. I was glassing and kept getting a whiff of "death". Followed it to the source. Been there for a couple weeks it looks like. Literally millions, if not billions of maggots. I have a pretty strong stomach, but whew! Whoever did it took the quarters and back straps/tenderloins, and the head. Just like a game animal. Smaller black cow, but still way bigger than any deer. I did not probe around for a bullet hole. Yeah that's what I was hoping. But they left all the best meat still there :-( I thought it was quite strange. Then I realized it was right by a road too, so no reason for them to not have come back for it

I came across 2 yeah carcass in another unit last week. One was opening day. Head and quarters taken. Hide intact. Guts still there. They left the steaks ??? I went back the next day in hopes they were still packing it,out when I first came across it. Nope still there. Another was a frahly expired button buck took a bullet to their rear hind. Its a shame people leave meat to waste

Wowzers. Great buck Mike. I'm here in one of the units we've talked about before. Saw some bucks the first 2 days and now it's getting a bit rough. All the quads and road hunters seem to have left and so did the deer
-
Not unusual to see them out in the open scrub/sage brush if they aren't feeling pressured. Lots of big deer will stay in the flat lands. If they know how to hide and stay hidden when need be and bolt after the danger is gone, the flats are a good spot.

162gr SST and bthp have worked great. Also 160gr Bonded boat tail bullet of "Un named" manufacture has done me good too. Using winchester LRM and surplus wc860

They definitely not where they have been the last few years. Finally had to change it up a bit this year after last year's epic fail :-) -

I'm having dove withdrawals. Lots of people rag on eating dove but it's not the eating part that's the most exciting! They are ok, but it sure is fun and always thinking of new ways. Been wanting to gather a few limits for some jerky -
Thanks for the clarification. Neat idea for sure. Love it when people come out and explain things and reach out to the community they are tailoring to. I hope it works out well and drums up business for your team and Arizona as a whole. Money into our economy is always welcome :-D

The legend ultra HDs 10x went for like 110$ last year with easy rebate. Wide FOV

Looking for advice on raising a child into a hunter
khmer6 replied to TonyC's topic in Youth Hunters
Tony. Get them involved with events and others as age permits. Remember don't push them pass their limits on the first few trips. When they call it quits. It's time to quit. It may be frustrating but after the first couple of times you can stretch it out longer. The last thing you want to do is drive them away by forcing them to hunt/hike/fish harder their first time. And don't let some JA play the heavy recoil trick on them. Nothing ruins someone nerves worse than getting a shoulder full of bruises or getting tagged by the scope. For son's fourth birthday he asked to go scouting and climb mountains. Music to my ears -
Kind of like a life insurance plan or something
