Sounds like a great hunt. If you don't mind me asking how many points did it take you to draw the goulds tag?

Looks like there is gonna be showers opening day in the payson area. How will this affect the turkeys? We will be heading up thursday and hoping to set up camp before it gets to wet. Do turkeys seem to stay put when it rains? Or is it worth being out there still calling? Any turkey hunting tips in the rain?

We had a hard time this weekend. Friday we had some good opportunities but couldn't capitalize, the turkeys were there though. Saturday and today they were silent. Couldn't get a single response. Our game plan was to sit some water we found Friday with tons of fresh turkey sign but with all the rain and snow we decided not to. So to answer my own question now the turkeys stay more quiet with rain and wind. We had a small window of opportunity in the mornings

Not sure what good the downloaded photos are going to do you. How are you gonna prove there isn't a road 1 ft to the right where we can't see and he just barely pulled off the road. Now that's probably not the case just saying to many people trying to police on here.

I will have to try this next time. Another thing to try is pour a little water in the dirt and cover ur hands with the mud and scrub then rinse works really well. Luckily this year I killed my pig right on a creek!

Might think about investing in a float tube and some decent waders. Shouldn't cost you that much and I don't know about a pedal boat but a float tube it's great to fish from

Not sure if you have ever considered the retractable tether but it is what I use for my rangefinder and GPS and love it. Many companies make them I just use the nikon one its $20 had it for about 5 years now. Clip it on my belt loop and it's silent pull and easy when I need it.
