How Do We Make Changes in AG&FD?????
crazy4COUES replied to m77's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I would look at it from the perspective that who is going to get voted in? The majority of the voting public is "NON hunting." They will have the power to vote in a tree huggin', no animal eatin', anti-huntin' individual. -
24A sucks don't go there, you will never find anything there.

Draw for Archery Deer from now on....
crazy4COUES replied to muley's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Do you think the G&F did enough homework on archery statistics for hunters in any particular unit, let alone the actual hunter success rates? Do you think the rifle hunt numbers in any of these particular units are going down? Do you think the affects of this "draw" system will affect the deer heard in a positive way? If so will the rifle hunt numbers go up? Also will it allow the archery tags to go up accordingly? We will have to wait and see. Point is, too many questions, not enough answers. Basically majority rules guys and gals. Majority of people hunt with rifles, they are catering to the majority. MAJORITY=MONEY hands down! -
NICE JOB! Antelope with a bow is a great accomplishment.
-
Start off going uphill, it will be tough but you can do it, especially with use of 4 legged friends. Once you are starting downhill, STOP! Sit on your ^$$ and glass. GOOD LUCK.

Great Antelope, great story, great job involving the kids.....awesome! I appreciate your efforts and story, thanks. Keep up the good work, we CWT members enjoy it.

TRAIL CAMERA
crazy4COUES replied to GameHauler's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
It is actually quite a fun hobby if you like photography, hiking etc. I have never "hunted" a cam location myself, I use it more as a tool to let me know what is going on in the area. The kids really love it too! It gives us a chance to go hike in to a cam location and look at the latest pictures. Personally there are alot of gadgets out there that take the hunt out of hunting, if you allow them to. An individual is supposed to use ethics to draw thier own line on how far to take it. Some folks push everything to the limit. -
Survey: Hunting Archery and Rifle Seasons

You have mis-understood what "OPPORTUNITY" I am referring to. It is the G&F term that they want to use to screw up everything just as you mentioned. I am using it with some sarcasim, because they have used what we consider "opportunity" to screw with us. The first time I heard this phrase was when they had a meeting about the archery elk hunts. They asked what we, the hunting public, wanted? The majority wanted an increased opportunity to draw an elk tag. The G&F turn that around to restructure the hunts for more "opportunity" and less quality. This created a uprising among the hunting public. People spoke up and defended what they had. Most hunters are tired of having no elk tags while others have multiple tags within a couple years, sometimes back to back. One suggestion was after drawing an elk tag the person would have to "sit out" of the draw for two years. Thus allowing someone else an "increased opportunity" to draw a tag. To say the least nothing has been done. By the way I am not talking about elk down south. Now they want to take our OTC deer hunts that account for 6% of harvest objectives and make them a draw. Meanwhile the rifle tags can account for 2/3 rds the objective with no changes. Why don't they look at it like this: total harvest objective 20%, right? Archery hunters (OTC) 6%, rifle hunters 17%. OOPs we need to reduce the rifle tags because our harvest objective was exceeded. Get it? It is because of money! -

No, I read the whole thing. "They see tags as revenue, we see tags as opportunity" ...that told me all I needed to know. cmc LIKE I SAID BEFORE NOTHING MENTIONED ABOUT ELK DOWN SOUTH....what am I missing that you are getting? -

crazy4COUES replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Umm. There aren't any elk down south... so I fail see your point? cmc You failed to read the entire post as well...I was referring to UNIT 1! As this is one of the units that have been put on the table for ending the OTC archery deer tags. Nothing mentioned about elk down south. -
Survey: Hunting Archery and Rifle Seasons
crazy4COUES replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Good point Packer but look at it this way, even though there seems to be thousands of archers in unit 1 and 6% can add up to be quite a few. How many rifle tags were cut because of this 6% of thousands that archery hunt? Personally I feel the G&F manages unit 1, as well as most of the rim country, for elk and could care less about the deer populations. Just as they manage the kaibab for deer, not elk. They are managed that way for MONEY. That is the problem I have is the G&F manages for MONEY PERIOD. If they want to help arizona residents with increased hunter opportunity then eliminate more non-resident hunts. Oh wait that takes from the MONEY! They see tags as revenue, we see tags as opportunity. Until both side can see the same picture it will continue to get worse. And I will bet you IF the game and fish takes the archery deer to a draw. Somewhere us sportsmen are going to pay for it. Cause it will hurt the amount of MONEY they recieve! -

WELL SAID donniedent! If they would honestly give it a try and see the benefits. They need to incorporate quality game managment mentality and get rid of the "lets manipulate the whole system for $$$" mentality. -

I AGREE TOTALLY! Additionally, if a unit has high success rate (>20%) that means it has a good population of deer, right? So putting it to a draw is not to help archers or deer. The G&F will then be able to increase rifle tags. Meanwhile the deer populations in other units (<20%) are going to stay low with OTC. If they are going to have a draw for archery deer then an individual should choose a weapon of choice. In other words when you put in for a draw you can only hunt with a bow that year or a rifle that year not both. That will eliminate all the "closet" bowhunters and some of the revenue for the greedy G&F. -
I couldn't agree more. Glancing arrows is a whole different scenerio than Kenetic Energy. If you are well practiced and wait for the correct broadside shot they should work GREAT. GOOD LUCK
-
I prefer fixed blades as well as cut on contact broadheads. I just need to ask one question? If the opening of the blades is so much a loss of energy then why do they open? The cutting action obviously has more drag than the opening of the blades. If not the blades would continue to cut while closed. The increased drag is from the increased cutting diameter that mechanicals are built for, make sense? So if the cutting diameter is the same on a mechanical as a fixed blade it will require the same amount of KE to penetrate. The benefit is to have less of a flying mass on the front that will create drag through the air in flight. Therefore allowing more KE downrange for deeper penetration, right? So where are your gains and where are your losses as far as KE is concerned?

I have seen damage the VORTEX can produce, the first word that comes to mind is DEVASTATING! They Wards are good people with products that really work. Also, IMO there is no need to go with a heavier head. You want a head that will help "tune" your arrow. Use the correct FOC, 8-12% of total arrow weight is the goal. Use this to compliment your total arrow package. With the 35-55 you should be fine in the 75-85 grain broadhead.

I agree.......WE NEED SOME PICS!

Oh, OK, sure thing!

I had a buddy of mine call up last night saying someone had shot a 400"+ bull in velvet near his house. Anyone have any more info? truth or rumor?
-
Yes I agree, it took me one time in the stand having to take a piss and no where to do it. I carry a small plastic can in my pack now. it works great, the mouth of it is large enough to just tuck it in and let her rip.
-
When i do use it i use the scent shield earth scent, it works good. Recently i have used c'meer deer in the spray bottle to spray on the ground blind etc. as a cover scent. Otherwise keep the wind in my face.

having trouble in the unit i hunt need HELP!!!!!
crazy4COUES replied to easymoney's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
What is your deal? People come to ths site to gain info about coues not hear you talkin bout your OPINION the way you are. What information are you basing OPINION on about archers killing just as many deer as rifle hunters? How many deer do you know of that have been killed EATING salt? BLA BLA BLAH!! The guy wants to know about salt licks big effin deal. Now to respond to THE question, too much salt in an area is useless. I would refrain from establishing any new salt lick (were you can SLAUGHTER a deer from... LOL) and utilize what is already there. Also move around explore new areas you may be suprised. -
yes sir.

The "next year" tag starts then. The preceeding years tag is the one he filled. The bull was harvested two days before it expired. Make sense?
