    Leupold TBC range finders

I think the rangefinder is geared mainly towards rifle...which at longer distances on steep slopes etc. I think it could possibly be helpful. For archery I think its a waist. They do not have alot of options to set it up for your bow unlike the rifle. From what the instructions say inside the box if you are at a 40 degree angle shooting at 40 yards there will be a 4 yard difference so the rangefinder will tell you to aim as if it were 36 yards... Casey since you already spent the money on the Duovids I would go and buy any of the Leica Rf's/ i love them, I think they are great. The Lrf 900 dropped to $400 I believe and the 1200 is down to $500. The one I recommend is the CRF 1200...its a sweet rangefinder..it goes for $600. Its really compact and just like the other leica rf's the bright red read out is awesome.... by the way how much did you get for your Duovids...they dropped down to $2095 brand new I think that tilt compansating range finders are far more important for archery than rifle..... especially in steep conditions...... I see your point...but I guess I was trying to say that they made the rf geared more towards rifle...they did not put a lot of effort into making it for archery. Look at the directions they have a bunch of stuff for rifle but one litte paragraph for the archery side. I can see it benefiting tree stand hunters just a little bit. but like I said for how my pins are setup ...that yard difference wont make a huge difference in shot placement

    16A ELK TAG

I just went on the game and fish website...which im sure one of you guys already have looks like its gonna be very limited....best time to go is in Sep. or Oct TJ are you getting closer to being able to pull that bow back? Elk "Overview: The Unit 16A elk herd is unique in that it is located on a sky island, the Hualapai Mountains. It is estimated there are 40-to-60 elk in the range with approximately 20-to-25 bulls. A number of elk reside in the Pine Lake subdivision or within Mohave County Park lands where they cannot be hunted, but many elk avoid the subdivision and are available to hunters. The terrain inhabited by elk in the Hualapai Mountains is steep, rugged, and unforgiving. Vegetation is very thick and if the elk are not calling they can be difficult to locate. Anyone drawing a 16A elk tag should be prepared to work hard on both scouting and hunting trips. This unit is not known for producing large bulls, though elk in the 300-inch or larger range are occasionally taken. Hunt success in 16A, especially for archers, depends greatly on the timing and intensity of the rut. Due to the thick vegetation, spot and stalk hunting are not generally effective, as it is impossible to move quietly. If bulls are not responding to calls the next best thing is to set up on a water source or a well-used trail. Areas: It is important to note that hunting is strictly prohibited on Mohave County Park lands. Park maps and boundaries can be obtained from the ranger station on Hualapai Mountain Road in the park or by calling (928)-757-3859. Dean’s Peak: This is actually a series of peaks just north of the county park. Access is directly across from the park entrance or via two access roads which come off Blake Ranch Road on the east side of the mountains. The road across from the park entrance is blocked part way up so it is necessary to walk the last mile or so. Once to the top, hunters will find a large stand of Ponderosa pine interspersed with open meadows. There are also trails that drop off to the east toward Yellow Pine Spring. Wild Cow: This area southeast of the park on Flag Mine Road has a large Ponderosa Pine stand and a couple of water sources often used by elk. There is a large open area, the result of a fire a couple of years ago, where elk are occasionally seen. The thick vegetation above the fire is also a good place to locate elk. Sugarbowl Tank: This tank lies in upper Timber Wash and is generally a reliable place to locate elk. Access is via New Year’s Cabin Spring and Antelope Wash roads. Unit 16A tag holders should be prepared to do a lot of scouting. The areas above are just starting points. Elk are spread in low densities throughout the Hualapai Mountains and hunters should look for sign in and around any of the Ponderosa stands."

Unique Way To Save A Deers Life!

that is sweet...I have to laugh a little at that one
  19. I do see your concern about the people who might have the physical limitations. It does suck that they might not be able to hunt the wilderness areas....but I think in general it would be better in the long run. I do agree with you that a majority road hunt the kiabab and that there is not a significant amount of deer taking....does anyone know what the average harvest for deer on the archery kiabab hunt? anyways, If they added some more archery hunts for deer i.e like DB said... late kiabab archery hunt or a early or late archery strip hunt. I do not see any harm in that. It is probably inevitable that archery will go to draw we will have to make the best of it. I would say if archery deer hunts do go to a draw system then I would hope they would do the draw by regions instead of particular units.

    Hey Younghunter

ill just step in.....christian did quit his job mainly due to an a$$hole manager and he would not have giving christian off the time for all his hunts this year...its a good reason to me. he'll make more guiding this year then he would there. the skater kid you mean napolean dynamite
  21. I do care if all the other units do go to a draw for archery I would be pissed off and would raise heck..which is a contradiction to my last post. Which is not how I wanted to say it....but to me making an archery draw for the kaibab is ok...any other units no...that way half the state will not be up there once sep 14th comes around.....except those with early elk tags. also making parts of 36b more wilderness area is a great idea....although I will never hunt that unit I think wilderness areas are the funnest to hunt in...especially if you are willing to do the work which most people on this site are. I can deal with walking or hiking in...instead of everyone else driving roads....I actually hate when I walk up a huge hill and think there are not gonna be roads on the other side...but it never happens that way...there is always an easier alternative. I'd rather walk. we can take it private if you want...
  22. I like the looks of everything....still think there are too many javelina tags. I dont mind those units for archery deer going to a draw....I support it
  23. Just thought I would share some pics of the beautiful scenery of az These pics are from a couple of years back and during the trail, there was a big ol' thunderstorm that we went through It is probably one of my favorite trails to go on for a little day drive...and its close to home some pics looking towards Montana Mtn A little natural waterfall The farther up the trail the mor the storm built up It hailed a good amount and it looked like it had snowed Looking out into a part of the superstition wilderness It is a great drive. That day was especially fun with all the rain and all the creeks flowing.
