Anyone ever buy their own dermestid colony and let them clean the skulls? I have four skulls in the freezer and it seems MUCH cheaper to just buy a colony, let them eat for a few days on each skull, then simply get rid of the beetles. Any experience?

$35 and I will give you GPS coordinates to a random stock tank in the middle of the desert that may someday see a duck or two. Now that, my friends, is a deal! -
Coues whitetail snacks!

Honestly, that is only the second time I have smoked homemade sausage. It has been a learning experience, but the product is so much better than I thought. I will be doing this a ton more!!! In fact, my feeling is that now the product is in a state where if power went out for a period of time or something worse happened, at least the meat is already processed and if kept cool, would last a LONG time. Much longer than if frozen raw. -
Yesterday I made 5 pounds of taco meat (AWESOME!), 5 pounds of smoked snack sticks using mesquite and cherry wood and apple juice and 5 pounds of smoked summer sausage using the same method. Vacuum sealed and put away already!!!

Yes, after you let the stuffed casings sit overnight in the fridge to let the meat cure, then I stick it in the smoker/grill with wet wood chips and juice. The smoke lasts only about 20 minutes or so, which is needed on the front end, but then does not overwhelm throughout the process. -

I wish there was a secret recipe. Store bought recipe, home ground very fine multiple times with 20% pork and 10% beef. That is why the texture is so fine and not chunky or grisly. Stuffed with the grinder stuffer attachment, let sit overnight. Smoked in three batches yesterday. Turned out INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!! Shocked at how well everything came out and tasted. -

The A-10s at 100 feet off the ground right over you is crazy! When you can see the teeth of the pilot when he smiles at you, you know you are close. -
Where to buy used or rebuilt engine for 1988 Toyota 4x4?
My Rights As An American replied to 1uglydude's topic in Classified Ads
NO FREAKIN WAY! I finally had that thing running nice again! I had NO idea it would do that. That concerns me, sorry. Very sorry. I guarantee there were less than 10,000 miles on that rebuild. In fact, I think it was closer to 5,000. -
How about summer sausage? I just did some for the first time this last weekend and it turned out incredible!

Where to buy used or rebuilt engine for 1988 Toyota 4x4?
My Rights As An American replied to 1uglydude's topic in Classified Ads
Had my 1988 Toyota 4x4 engine rebuilt in downtown Phoenix, but they screwed it up. Wishing I had put a crate motor in after that. Took a while to get everything right again. Was a HUGE waste of money in the end. -
Dermestids and skulls
My Rights As An American replied to My Rights As An American's topic in Taxidermy
Know someone who does it fairly reasonably priced? I can get an entire colony for about the price of one skull cleaning. I only need to keep them alive for about 1-2 weeks. That cannot be that hard, can it? -
Part of your problem was that you did not go far enough west of that fence. When you do, you will find the Singing Bush. Chant the special words and the Invisible Swordsman will appear. He will point the way to the big ones in 36c. Not sure why you accidentally put in for this unit. Nothing but 2 legged coyotes, sugar and spice transporters and laborers searching for work among the mesquites. Now Unit 49D, that is best unit in the state for 100" deer!

Dove hunting--Salt River area, Mesa
My Rights As An American replied to My Rights As An American's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Tried a popular area, and no birds flying. Kicked up about 15 birds roosting in dead trees, but the heat became too much for me. Out by 11:30. -
Dove hunting--Salt River area, Mesa
My Rights As An American posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Anybody dove hunt near the Salt River in NE Mesa? I need a place to take the kids (5 and 4) to get their first dove hunt. Live near BassPro and need a place close enough to keep the kids excited, and Florence or Buckeye are just too far. Any hints? Not looking for the greatest secret spots anywhere, just hoping for a place to take the kids close by and pick up a few birds now and then. THANKS!!!!!! -

Thanks. I will check out some maps and see if I can find something. Any waterholes around there? thanks! -
So are you prohibited from even walking down the Bushnell Tanks road? The sign says prohibited entry to everyone. Or is the entry prohibited to motor vehicles? I do not get it. I see people parked there all the time, meaning they must have walked in. What gives?
-
Any dove hunting available walking that road? Want to take my 5 year old hunting tomorrow for the first time and thought that is the best, closest option available. Thanks!!!
-
Can I ask what you paid for it? Interested to know because I am looking at getting the M77 in 7mm Rem Mag and was not sure if it is a good deal.
