When I drove down in oct for my 35b hunt, I saw about a dozen antelope just east of the 83 just north of town. They were in the same spot whe. I drove by again the following Tuesday. But those have been the first ones in a long time! Used to see them all the time when I was a kid

My first archery kill!
coatimundi01 posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Pardon my derpface... Lol Well, not what I expected for my first archery kill, but I'll take it! These dove landed right next to me and coueskid this morning, one actually almost hit me in the face as it flew by. Saw two of them walking at about 12 yards and let one fly! About 15 mins before this we had a whole covey of quail walk to within 10 feet of us while we were glassing. They spooked as I went for my bow. We got up, started walking and spotted them. Drew back and had one on the run moving left to right and just grazed the tail... Almost had a dove and a quail with a bow on the same morning! -
Me yesterday: only if I turned my ringer back off... Ugh Closest I've been so far with my bow. 63 yards of a bedded forkie mule deer... Him and two does stood up, kind of thought something was up but still were quartering towards me getting closer. Then the phone went off... I used it as an excuse to my wife, "if I had a newer bow that can shoot that far I'd have gotten the job done already!" Lol. He stood up broadside at 63...

This guy was the complete opposite! Never once rattled and only struck once at the stick I used to pick it up and move it off of Redington Rd. They are a killer looking snake though! -

This is my first year hunting TMP, and really the only thing that really irks me is the gigantic areas around Old Tucson. That's a huge area to cut off. I glassed a decent fork or a little 3x3 from way off with about a dozen does/fawns and I could see they were right on the fence that says no hunting! These deer are no dummies, lol. I've been there 3 times since last wed and have seen over 40 deer, but really only a few 2x1, a spike, and that bigger buck I couldn't make out from afar. I've put a couple stalks on and have closed to about 75-80yds but still too far for me... Wed and Friday the hunter traffic was low, it was nice. Figured it would be good today too. Wrong lots of hunters. I guess everybody has Xmas week off and is hunting. We did see one little buck today though. Got spooked and headed for the houses and the no hunting zone... Grrr...

That would be perfect. I might be going to TMP to chase some muleys, but not sure yet. Even if I go I'll be done around noon, barring a kill! I'll PM you my number and we can plan things out. Thanks!

We can cruise down there tomorrow if not. I'm by country club and benson so not too far of a drive.
-
I'll take it! Are you available tomorrow afternoon and are you willing to meet?

Broadhead tuning help please!
coatimundi01 replied to coatimundi01's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Yeah, I was stressing out way too much and running out of time before archery started so I just took my block out to the range and sighted in for y BHs... As long as I can put one where it matters, that's all that matters! I'll just re-sight in for FPs after javelina season. I've already convinced my wife I'm going to get my own newer bow for my birthday this summer! -
Nice and tall! Good buck, congrats!

Big congrats! Can't wait to see the big ole boy!

I LOVE the Ironclad brand of gloves and bought a pair of these, but unfortunately the thumb hole is just a bit too tight. These are the Striker model with the duraclad reinforcements which is super durable. The thumb, index, middle fingers are half-fingers for extra dexterity and trigger feel. They are size Med and usually mediums fit me perfect in full finger gloves but the cut out for the thumb is a little tight for me. I guess I have big knuckles! These are msrp $28, but can be had for $21 on the ironclad.com outlet plus shipping. Great pair of gloves, $18 shipped tyd or $15 for pickup/meet in Tucson. Here are a couple pics:

Santa Catalina Bighorn Restoration Project

As far as the lions go, maybe they'll implement the multiple lion bag limit of 3/year like they have down in the SW units. -
^i think I just bought a pair of the russell pants you're describing. Apxg2 Zepher pant I think. Black Friday sale at sportsman's for $55 bucks! I also have a pair of core4 pants lighter weight than the russells, the switchback pant. They are auper comfy but didn't hold up too well to catclaw. They come with foam knee pads though, and like I said super comfy.
