Who else saw that and got excited and then disappointed when it was just a reminder to update your CC info...Arrgh! At least it means we're getting close!

Man, that guy has some big chompers! Congrats!

You can get the .10 pins directly from blackgoldsights.com not sure how easy it would be to replace them though. Couldn't be too bad.

my 2013 Southern AZ Borderland coues deer.
coatimundi01 replied to Coues Kid's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I'll also add that we were a ways from camp on a hot oct day. I'd rather keep that water bottle I'm my pack to drink on the hump out over 2 ridges then clean off a little blood. Trust me this deer wasn't disrespected at all, and we worked out butts off getting to him and getting him out. And yes, sitting on an elk with a foot propped up on the antlers is way worse. That's all I'll say on this. This thread is about congrats nick! Have you finished your skull yet? -
Cost of new PSE Revenge (2013 model)
coatimundi01 replied to PelaPapas's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Closest I found on AT was a new with tags unregistered but it has a stabilizer, G5 optix xr 4 pin, and octane rest. They want $625 so def less than that for bare bow. Some of the bare bows but have been shot listed for between $350 and $450ish. Good luck! -
Good stuff guys, keep it coming! Some reading I've been doing has me perplexed. People asking if certain bows needed a sidebar. "No because I only hunt" I'm for getting the most accurate hunting rig. If it needs a sidebar to help accuracy, I think it's more important on a live animal than it is on that foam animal. Now I just need to keep stuffing my bowfund jar!

Congrats! Did you do your own skulls? Look like they came out great!

I agree above and say that I usually don't pack my dslr in my pack even though it's a smaller Canon T1i. If I were to get a camera for hiking and hunting, I would look into the micro 4/3 or mirror less cameras. You still can have interchangeable lenses for getting the shot style you want and overall a much smaller package.

Beige newer F-150 in the parking lot also with a realtree AP sticker.

Good story man! We've all been pretty familiar with those challenges, but that's what makes it satisfying!

Sweet! I'm gonna head out this weekend with a couple buddies to give calling a try!

Ya know canelo's dogs don't really do it for me. My fav place has always been el parro loco's cart on country club and 36th. Get it chipilon style with the toasted cheesy bun... Mmm Mmm!

Great story man! You're absolutely right, it's all about the hunt and the harvest is just icing on the cake if it happens! Good luck!

Nice, I only have 10x right now, so that's what I was planning on using for. Looking forward to your review on the new legs!

Sweet looking little tripod. I've also been looking for something smaller and lighter (I have a full size vanguard alta pro that I use. Super solid, but big and heavy) and I found this from slik. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1014333-REG/slik_613_337_pro_340dx_tripod_legs.html folds down to 16" which is 8" shorter than mine and it's like 1.8lb lighter than mine. At only $90 I may have to give it a shot. Also, if you check camofire often, they have a Vanguard carbon fiber tripod with pan head for under $200

I have the Modern Call Products javelina call. I like that they're based right here in AZ in Buckeye. I've used it twice on pigs, first time was a single boar running 20 yards off the road. Hopped out, grabbed my bow, and tried the call. Kept running, didn't want anything to do with it. The second time was when we walked up on a herd. They got spooked and started trotting off and we grunted and wailed on the call. They stopped, we blew on the call again, and they came running and grunting right back to us. Talk about exciting! Shot my pig at 10 yards, what a rush! I think it worked better on the herd rather than the single pig due to they probably feel safer in numbers to come in and investigate/protect the 'hurt pig' that they think they hear.

Brady Miller's Giant Archery Coues Deer with Colburn and Scott Outfitters
coatimundi01 replied to Jay Scott's topic in Jay Scott Outdoors/Colburn and Scott Outfitters
If I had a drink in my mouth it would've been completely spit out... WOW! -
Well, after eating my oct WT tag by missing a forkie, eating an archery tag after many days hitting the hills in Dec, I had already gone out pig hunting three days and had only seen a single javi. Me and coues kid went out yesterday late morning and drove around to a few spots just exploring 34a and wasn't seeing much, We decide to run back to the Rosemont/gunsight pass area for the afternoon. Found a really good glassing spot on the backside of Fagan and had lunch but anything we saw was gonna be a far, far hike and the wind was whipping on the east side. We run up and over the pass, hit a little glassing area we found Thursday morning, and made the ultimate decicion to head back to the Santa Rita flats where we know there's pig sign everywhere, it's just a matter of finding them. Tried a new area in the experimental range, and saw deer track after deer track. Some big ones too! FINALLY we start seeing some fresh looking pig tracks. We track and lose them multiple times so we start heading down a wash at about 4pm. We get on some more fresh looking tracks and Nick is following some in the wash and I'm following some on the side and right as I'm about to tell him "hey these look really fresh..." he stops and whispers "PIGS!" We walked up on them at 40 yards which is easy to do in the flats with all that prickly pear. We see one pop out, and another, and another. I was full draw on one at 30 yards, but there were too many branches in the way. After a few tense seconds, they start trotting off. I tell Nick "hey wail on my javi call..." Sure enough, they stop, start grunting, and trotting right back towards us. The first pig that gave me a shot was a sow at 10 yards with a big ole boar behind a tree. Being new, and the fact they were kind of pissed off and grunting at us at 10 yards, I rushed a shot and watched it hit right in the middle of the hind quarter. The blood started good, but was very faint at times. We jumped her once, and then caught up to her again at 70 yards. We were sneaking in to put a finishing shot on and she gets up again. As we walk up to where she was, another big boar runs away. I'm thinking bad thoughts at this time, as I gut shot my first ever animal I've ever flung an arrow at and we've already tracked a couple hundred yards and the blood was getting real faint. Sure enough though, she didn't run far. Tried at 20 yards for a kill shot, but my arrow wasn't on the rest correctly and missed horribly. She ran off again! Now its getting real late in the day and we're running out of light. But this time luckily she only ran 10 more yards behind a paloverde and started raising her back hair and snapping her tusks at us. I walked up to 3 yards and tried to get an arrow through the little branches but missed over the top. Got on my knees, got around the tree to TWO yards of a PO'd gut shot pig, and smoked one through the lungs. After that she stood up, snapped her tusks some more, and faked lunged at us all while I'm still kneeling on the ground TWO yards from her. I yelped "OH $###!" and jumped back a few yards, but you could hear her labored breathing and it was just a waiting game for a few minutes after that! I shot her at about 4:20pm, tracked for a few hundred yards thinking we would lose her as it was getting dark, and finally got my hands on her at about 5:30. Field dressed it, slung her over my shoulders, and we started the 2 mile packout by moonlight. Right now, the skull is in the freeezer and the quarters and back straps are in ziplocs on ice in a cooler to be taken to WGP today! Big thanks to Nick (coues kid) for going out with me and helping find these elusive little buggers and for literally giving me the shirt off his back so I wouldnt get my bloody stinky shirt all over my truck seat!. Thanks to all you forum members offering help and advice with that old ancient barnett bow when I was trying to get it up and running. And thank you thank you for letting us find that pig last night! I really was afraid we were gonna lose it to the yotes overnight... And now for the good stuff... PICS! (disclaimer they were all on cellphone as we were losing light, so clarity isn't great but the memories are there!) Blood! The sunset as we were waiting for her to take her last breaths Nick and me as we were waiting Success at last!

I skinned quartered and washed. Saved the backstraps and sliced and chicken fried them; amazing. I saved one front shoulder in the freezer to either crockpot BBQ or crockpot green chili tacos or something. The rest went to wgp for 1/2 chorizo and 1/2 maple sausage. I would've done something with the tenderloins, but I accidentally gut shot her and one of them was trash... Oh well!

After getting him a kid's king's camo set and some cheapie 8x21s for Xmas, my 5 year old got to go on his very first hunt today! We didn't see anything, but we got out and he had fun. We got on some pretty fresh looking sign right away and I showed him the tracks and let him follow them for a while. Showed him where the deer and pigs were rooting, the chomped ears of prickly pear, and the barrel cactus fruits that were eaten off. Did a little yote calling and saw some of the biggest mule deer tracks I've ever seen so I guess I better grab my '14 archery tag, lol! I wear a size 10 boot for size reference on the pic of the deer track.

Watch out for the guys from Deliverance in 21 Ian... Lol! Have fun man.

Awesome! How cool is that. He'll probably keep reminding you of the fact that he has the bigger javelina for a while too! Great job!

Seven players in double figures, lead wire to wire, I think the only stay asu was better in was they shot and made more free throws.

Took the backstraps from the piggie I got on Sunday evening and decided to chicken fry them. Really simple, came out really good! Pretty much any old chicken fried recipe should work. Make sure you cut off that silvery muscle film, a fillet knife worked perfectly. Then I cut the straps into about 1/2" slices and pound them to about 1/4" thick. Soak the pieces in milk (I used oat milk as my 5 year old is allergic to dairy) while you get the eggs and breading ready. Crack 3 eggs and best with some milk. Get a couple cups of flour on a plate and season to taste. I stayed simple and used salt, pepper, garlic powder, a little paprika, and a little cayenne pepper powder. Drain the backstrap cutlets, toss them in the flour, dip in the egg, and then toss in the flour again. Fry to a golden crisp and that's it! From this: To this:
