Recent Jaguar Pics and other critters down south

This turned from clearly a pic of a bobcat to one heck of a discussion! Good stuff IA Born! I hope to one day glass up a jaguar, and not at the dealer lot in Tucson!

Got talked to in oct, the rule is if it has hide, you can't take it.

    Calling Elk, Good/bad Idea???

If you do call, I would use a different call than the ones you'll have during the hunt. Like said above, don't wise them up anymore than they are!

    Called in a goulds yesterday!

Went for a hike yesterday in the Catalinas to check out the plane wreck at the bottom of Butterfly trail. Took my call with me just for fun and as I'm sitting at the bottom of the canyon in the shade I let out a couple cuts. Immediately a bird up the hill gobbles back. A couple more calls and a couple more gobbles! Move into position, get my phone ready, and I see him coming in full strut! I've never tried calling for them or hunted them so this was pretty cool! Gonna go try OTC this weekend. Hope I have this kind of luck! http://instagram.com/p/nmnIkAN40M/

    Luna/Big lake

A buddy of mine was there last weekend said the bite was off. I think it's hit or miss right now. Gotta be there on a good day!

    Salt river fishing

Nice. The only time I've tried that the river was flowing pretty good and it was hard to swim. With the dry winter it's probably nice now. There's a back road out of Globe I've wanted to drive and try out that goes even more upstream. Maybe this summer...

    Salt river fishing

Good luck! Are you fishing in between the 288 bridge and the lake?

    Stabilizer setups

As much as I like having all my stuff match, I saw a Shrewd side bar mount with quick disconnect that seemed to be an upgrade for a good price. I think I'll go that route when I try a side bar.

    Suggestions

Yup, a quick hike from anybody the foothills area hotels and you could see some deer in those canyons. Javelina all over as well like LD said. Could take a drive up Catalina Hwy to the top and see everything from deer, bear, javelina, to Gould's turkey. Plus you'll get out of the June Tucson heat!

    battery lanterns

Coleman has a sweet one that has 4 led panels, and you can remove any one to walk around with and leave the main part where it is.

    self inflating sleeping pads

x2 on the Alps Mountaineering stuff. I have one of their lightweight pads and the wife has the thick comfort pad that I steal when car camping and she doesn't cone with, lol. That being said, for backpacking I have a Big Agnes insulated air core pad. It's not self-inflating, but blows up to 3" thick and rolls up to 4"x4"x7" so it's tiny.
  24. Ran into an older gentleman in 34a with a recurve and a ghillie suit. He had almost got a big muley but hadn't sealed the deal yet.

    Called in a goulds yesterday!

Especially down where he was... He's no doubt seen tons of hikers, but probably never a hunter in his life!
