This isn’t a bad deal with the scope, case and ammo. I’m a lefty so unfortunately I can’t use it or I would consider it very much. This is one of those guns that can’t get any more manly.

It might be a good idea to get less than lethal weapons if you are the type of person that has a victim complex or otherwise can’t seem to avoid situations like this. It might actually be fun to taze someone, blast them with bean bags or douse them with mace. Although sometimes that turns deadly and that wouldn’t be fun at all.

There has to be video of this somewhere, post it if you find it before it gets deleted. We never miss an opportunity to film drama or trauma.

It’s hard to have sympathy for the dead dude. He was 37 and should have known better. I’ve been there plenty where both drivers are mad. I usually make the next turn and get away from it. I’m usually armed when driving although not every time. It’s nice to go home at the end of the day. It feels good when you don’t have to waste someone over something stupid too.

They have a hard time with scores. I’ve seen plenty where they talk about the buck being 180 or bigger and that’s from them looking at it and not measuring it. Elk are much more inflatable to the point you need to subtract 20” right away from what some of these guides are claiming. A 180 Net typical is a very big deer. Many times it can gross over 180 and the net is much lower than that. I have a set of antlers from NM from 1974 and it grosses 191 and nets just over 180 officially. When it comes to the final score after drying, that’s something that you usually never see or ever hear about unless it actually makes the book, then they most certainly post about that, but a lot fall short and they never mention that again. It’s human nature to overestimate things and whenever I hear a score I’m skeptical unless I see a score sheet with an offical scorer’s name after the 90 day drying time. That is probably what we see a lot of, the overuse 180. From a guides point of view, it doesn’t hurt to claim being around lots of 180 deer.

Weaver low rings. These rings are a good alternative to what’s out there and should provide you with much enjoyment. $99.99 and you pay for shipping.

Willing to consider partial trade for left handed rifles like Cooper, Anschutz, Sako or Dakota. Or Nightforce rifle scope or other comparable optics.
-
Dang it. I wish you were looking for 69 grain HPBT. I have Sierra and Nosler I would love to trade for some of what you have.
-
No motivation except maybe enthusiasm for others. These would make great starter rings for a kid and something that their parent or guardian can both enjoy together.
-
Not sure about their rareness or anything like that. I just know I got a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment from having these on a rifle and I would love for someone else to have the same opportunity I had.

New price: $149.00 + shipping

I usually watch what they have available. Too bad I missed this. I might have needed H1000 in the 20 or so days it takes to get powder you ordered from them. I will use other powder for now.

I’m about to buy one. Anyone have one that can comment on it? It’s been a year of thinking about it and trying to decide on this one or the Bench Source and the talk is that this one is better.
-
Thanks. I bought the Bench Source. It’s my first one and it looks like it might be the one to go with to learn. I’m sure I will end up with the AMP unit later as that’s how my equipment usually goes. I just bought the Matchmaster dispenser after I got used to the Charge Master 1500 and I look at it as a positive to have two or more pieces of equipment to do what I need in case one fails on a Saturday afternoon that would otherwise leave me stuck.

Another good thing is you won’t need to lap these rings.

It doesn’t matter if it’s illegal or not, it’s whatever the person feels is right. Just look at the thread from a few months ago and see how many people wouldn’t pull over and let someone by. It’s how our culture is now. It’s not about right or wrong or ethical or not, it’s about freedom and what I want to do.

Get used to it. This is normal now. We live in a free country and everyone will tell you about their rights and forget about their responsibilities. I can just imagine confronting someone out there and letting them know that off road travel is wrong or at least irresponsible. That will not go well for me. Just look at how bad things have gotten in the last ten years. I see roads that branch off of main roads to a nice and convenient glassing spot because it’s easier to drive the 600’ than to walk over there. That’s normal now, just like being able to drive when and where you want. Calling the law on them won’t get any reaction unless they happen to be minutes away. The report that’s given if they cannot respond will be a cheap report that’s not worth the paper it’s written on because of the stack of complaints in the file these reports go.

I guess this could be a good thing. I always thought sighting in a gun was one of the fundamental things you must know if you plan on any serious shooting. One step below this and you’re better off renting a gun if that’s the effort and respect you have for guns. I hope whoever does this is not doing it out of laziness and actually watches and learns something. I would be totally ok with that. I am one that loves guns and accumulate hordes of items devoted to making me better. Things like scope leveling and mounting tools and reloading items that can fill up this page. Some of those items I have two or more of because it makes sense to me to have more than one wrench or other measuring tool when more than one allows for better cross checks and consistency. It’s taken me a lifetime to get everything and I don’t think I’m close to done yet. I learned recently that not everyone has that passion and aren’t interested in going that far with firearms. As difficult as it is to see something like this, I have to not let it bug me.

Out of all on the list, I only met hoghntr. I traded PMs with biglakejake plenty of times but never met him. He was one I was sure I either knew or met somewhere before. All of his posts mention places I’ve been and people I know. It was like he was in my head. He seemed like a real good guy.
