Lots of good recommendations above! A few years ago I wanted to try something different. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/54014-from-the-hills-to-the-table/ Ended up the whole chunk up bacon and all and making bbq pork style with some provolone and a pickle if it suits you. I'd do it again!

Congrats on your first!

Would you support a bunch of granolas banning 850 yd animal hunting? How do you feel about big cats? Some of you guys get all bunched up looking down your nose at other disciplines. Guess what... The crunchies hate us all and will take whatever angle we give them. They'd be happy to chip away at us a bit at a time. Regarding the poll, go sit active water or a worn trail in the pines for a few days in August with a good wind and your chances at a 12 yd fork might look pretty favorable compared to finding a 110" and hitting him at 850. Plenty bashing the technology of a long shot but forget to discuss the merits of pouring "stuff" from a bag or placing the ambiguous block onto the soil before hanging a 10+ megapixel digital camera equipped with modern day Passive Infrared sensors to trigger a photograph with a time/date/temp/moon phase stamp enabling them to primitively pattern their quarry before repeating this at 5 or 6 more undisclosed locations after using satellite imagery and high resolution topographic maps on their cellular phones to primitively search the land for the best spots allowing them to leverage their primitive 85% let off, CNC machined riser, wind/elev adjustable sight, sound and vibration stabilized bow shooting +/- 0.001" straight, weight sorted woven carbon projectiles tipped with surgical stainless steel blades on a trophy fork. Regardless of implement forks aren't my thing, but if it blows your skirt up I hope you have your fill and share the outdoors with your kids! I respect the passion for your own game but we need to be passionate about others' right to hunt as we please. I will use as many weapon platforms, specific seasons, and target species as I can to keep my rear in the field as many days as possible throughout the year and use whatever technology I can afford to maximize opportunity at intended targets... Except Mtn Ops, I wont use Mtn Ops. Seriously though the holier than thou BS is nothing but divisive.

Best of luck to you and your crew. I'll be checking back for pics!

I may regret this someday and I could probably sell bits and pieces off easier but some fine Austrian glass is calling my name. This is an entire set of fly fishing and tying equipment. Ready to fish and tie immediately. If you ever wanted to get on the water, this is top notch gear in near mint condition and at a smoking price. This was a stash I built up and things never panned out for their intended use. Asking $2,000 for everything shipped to your door. I may break this up later but for now someone could possibly get an amazing deal on a pile of gear so I don't have to mess with ebay. Near $3K worth of gear. Ross Reels - Colorado LT - 0-3 (Near mint, I cannot find an imperfection on it) Loaded with Cortland 444 "peach" DT 3wt (cut in half and only half is on the reel, other half is new on spool) Ross Reels - Animas - 5-6 (New in box, unused) Have new Scientific Angler Mastery "MPX" WF 5wt that will go with it. Rods Orvis Superfine Carbon 7'6" 3wt full flex (this rod belongs on the Black!) Aluminum Tube Orvis Recon 9' 5wt (very similar to the Helios line, cork lightly cleaned) Aluminum Tube (decals on tube are slightly damaged from transport) Tying Equipment and additional gear - Net with magnet catch, fishpond waist pack with assorted forceps, nippers, zingers, floatant, indicators, splitshot, and leaders. Vise - Wolff rotary (Apex) Fur - Calf's tail, Hares mask, pine squirrel, fine elk hair, assorted dubbing and chenilles Hooks - over 700 in popular sizes (10-18). Both Dry and Nymphs varieties Synthetics - Antron, larvae lace, scud back, wiggle worm, and a variety of Black, brass, and tungsten beads. Thread, Lead Wire, Hopper/Ant Foam, Rubber Legs Feathers - 5 popular hackles, peacock herl, hungarian partridge cape, CDC, goose biots, golden/amherst pheasant tips, pheasant tails in a tube.

I have tried many different systems for mounting bino's to a tripod and hands down my favorite is the Outdoorsman's bino adapter system. It has one trait that drives me crazy as it would be perfect if I could fix it. It's really a tiny problem but I want to eliminate it. The design of the system allows the binos to pivot, or swing, or wobble back and forth around the axis of the stud. Has anyone ever figured out a way to "snug" them up when mounted?
-
I believe it will. The website I checked says the Rino 650T excepts the microSD card. If that is the case it should work no problem.
-
Thanks Jake, I torqued it down and it significantly helped. Also looked into the guts a bit and see that I was wrong about the mechanics of the adapter and knurled adjustment. I always just ran it down till it touched the bottom as I thought it only kept the adapter from depressing to release the stud. I may try the O-ring idea to lock it up even more too.

I vote for mules, campfires, and a single action army replica! A long colt Javie is on my list.

Wow! That completed the story. Love it when a plan come together. Congrats!

Awesome story and write up. Congrats! -
Very cool you helped him break the curse. I have been researching for a CO muley hunt for a but the options are a bit overwhelming with out being able to put boots on the ground scouting. Congrats on two successful trips to the field. Especially that bomber Coues!

Tightening the "nut" prevents the ball detents from being depressed. It applies zero tension to the stud inside of the adapter. I adjust the pan tension to hold steady but light enough to bump over to the next field of view with the bridge of my nose when glassing. Occasionally it pivots the binos. Not the end of the world just wondering if someone found an easy fix.

Swarovski SLC Bino Adapter $75 shipped to your door. (pick up not an option) Complete with (1) stud. This is not a new unit and has been used in the field. Locks up tight and still 100% functional. I tried to capture it's imperfections in the photos.

Another bump before I turn it loose on fleabay.

Bump for a reasonable offer.

Up for the weekend.

Up for the weekend. Shoot me a reasonable offer. I'd seperate but the rods would need to go first. Tying gear can go on it's own.
