If a proven design is what you are after, I can highly recommend a CZ chambered in 17 Hornet over the 17WSM. Incedibly accurate and reloadable if you fancy that. I have found it to be plenty-o-medicine for my purposes as well. I posted about mine in the predator forum a while back.

That is not exactly accurate. (pun intended) Coriolis is pretty complicated when it comes to figuring exact displacement of a shot. For example... it has more of an effect near the equator than it would near a pole (North or South), a shot directly north or south will print substantially more movement then one fired directly east or west. Spin drift is more of a constant, but can change with altitude/air density. I feel when speaking about the vast majority of "long range shooters" .3 MOA deviation at ranges of or exceeding 1000 yds would be EXTREMELY hard to pin down to one culprit or eliminate. An even slightly canted scope or rifle could easily be responsible for 1/2 MOA deviation, not to mention the multitude of other factors like wind, mirage, air density, spin drift, etc, or a loose nut behind the trigger. If a guy controls what he can, and coriolis was the only thing unaccounted for then he will likely hit close enough in any hunting situation. I watch lots of long range hunting shots being made (youtube, DVDs, and TV) where coriolis is the least of the guys worries. I guess what I am trying to say is if you do your due diligence at the range and at the loading bench, coriolis will not effect anything but serious extreme range shooting. BIGBROWNS, Thanks for posting. I hope you get that last little bit worked out and put the hammer on a bear!

I will take $2300 $2200 for Swaro's only or $2600 $2550 for everything in pictures.

Interested as well.

Amazing what a different experience seeing those can be for different people at different times. Such a cool critter to stumble across until you are training at 29 Palms. You will loath the desert tortoise and the CA hippies who are paid to halt training and make a huge scene in the name of "science". Great pic and thanks for sharing. I've only ever seen one in the wild near Yuma.

Unfluted fan here. One thing is for sure, once you cut those flutes into it you can't put the material back. If you build a rifle and have it fluted before assembly, you will never know what kind of shooter the stick was prior to the cuts. In this case you will know because it's already assembled. The weight savings is negligible (talking a mere ounces) . The cooling ability of the increased surface area would also be hard to quantify with so many variables. They will look cool though.

Bobcat Trapping Banned in California Today
WampusCat replied to Hyperwrx's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
It's scary to think what that many emotional hippies can accomplish together. Never mind the drought issues, drug problems, or homeless, the important thing is emotional rulings on wildcats without any scientific research. The only good thing about that state is it draws all those hippies to one place and the can be corralled a little easier. Heres hoping they all stay over there. What will they focus their weak minds and strong hearts on next? I remember when the professional activist Tom O'key found that trap. So sad it ended this way. That dang cecil didn't help this case at all. I believe that O'Key goofball was the same guy calling the police on his neighbors for "light pollution". Said he couldn't see the stars well enough when they left their lights on. -

Best way to find seating depth of the lands
WampusCat replied to couesfreak23's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Lots of ways to skin this cat, but IMHO the best is to use a Hornady (formerly Stoney Point) Overall Length gauge and a modified case for your specific caliber. This will let you remove the bolt and insert the device directly into the chamber with the bullet of your choice. Set your bullet in the case mouth and slide the rod forward until the bullet contacts the rifling. The sliding rod will stop and you can tighten a thumb screw to lock it down. Then remove and measure. I would also recommend measuring off the ogive rather than the bullet tip. You will be much more consistent off the ogive. Eliminating variables is the name of the game. You should do this several times using consistent pressure with different bullets from the lot to be certain. -
I'd have to ask how when shot placement was? shot placement was good but i think he was closer than what he says. What meat was damaged?

Thanks Rage. I also appreciate all the interest but I'm not looking for any trades.

All of the rounds mentioned will certainly flatten a clues. My vote would be to try a few of the ones you fancy and let your rifle decide which one to shoot. (the one it shoots best) The SST's have a thin jacket and occasionally get a bad rap from guys shooting them real fast at real close ranges and complaining when they hit a shoulder blade that detonates the bullet on impact. Stay off the shoulders and you won't be hitting enough meat to matter how much it tears up. I love the Scirroco's. They were one of the first bonded bullets with good ballistic coefficients. Their weak link is the jacket material has a tendency to copper foul a barrel pretty quick and lose accuracy. If you are only worried about Minute of Coues then you will be fine. Let us know what you pick and your results.

Thanks. I knew it was loud but didn't know how it compared. I thought you were cookin up some monster caller with your frankenstein. I see now that what it doesn't have in volume is made up with cash savings.

Still for sale and all PM's returned

Scott, very cool. What would a guy gain by putting something like this together vs running my CS-24 from 2011?

Ghost, Any particular model that has been the most reliable for you? Ive had some decent cams from different brands but something always seems to go wrong after the first season.

Great mount. Those little devils sure can buzz the decoys fast. You will only ever try to eat one once. lol

Don't let anyone get under you skin. Post what you like. If someone doesn't like it, well that their problem. I like looking at pics of bulls!

+1 I was skeptical at first on the repeatability but I love that Borka kit
