    Up for the weekend.
  3. It's scary to think what that many emotional hippies can accomplish together. Never mind the drought issues, drug problems, or homeless, the important thing is emotional rulings on wildcats without any scientific research. The only good thing about that state is it draws all those hippies to one place and the can be corralled a little easier. Heres hoping they all stay over there. What will they focus their weak minds and strong hearts on next? I remember when the professional activist Tom O'key found that trap. So sad it ended this way. That dang cecil didn't help this case at all. I believe that O'Key goofball was the same guy calling the police on his neighbors for "light pollution". Said he couldn't see the stars well enough when they left their lights on.

  5. Lots of ways to skin this cat, but IMHO the best is to use a Hornady (formerly Stoney Point) Overall Length gauge and a modified case for your specific caliber. This will let you remove the bolt and insert the device directly into the chamber with the bullet of your choice. Set your bullet in the case mouth and slide the rod forward until the bullet contacts the rifling. The sliding rod will stop and you can tighten a thumb screw to lock it down. Then remove and measure. I would also recommend measuring off the ogive rather than the bullet tip. You will be much more consistent off the ogive. Eliminating variables is the name of the game. You should do this several times using consistent pressure with different bullets from the lot to be certain.

    Bullet selection

I'd have to ask how when shot placement was? shot placement was good but i think he was closer than what he says. What meat was damaged?

Thanks Rage. I also appreciate all the interest but I'm not looking for any trades.

    Bullet selection

All of the rounds mentioned will certainly flatten a clues. My vote would be to try a few of the ones you fancy and let your rifle decide which one to shoot. (the one it shoots best) The SST's have a thin jacket and occasionally get a bad rap from guys shooting them real fast at real close ranges and complaining when they hit a shoulder blade that detonates the bullet on impact. Stay off the shoulders and you won't be hitting enough meat to matter how much it tears up. I love the Scirroco's. They were one of the first bonded bullets with good ballistic coefficients. Their weak link is the jacket material has a tendency to copper foul a barrel pretty quick and lose accuracy. If you are only worried about Minute of Coues then you will be fine. Let us know what you pick and your results.

Thanks. I knew it was loud but didn't know how it compared. I thought you were cookin up some monster caller with your frankenstein. I see now that what it doesn't have in volume is made up with cash savings.

Scott, very cool. What would a guy gain by putting something like this together vs running my CS-24 from 2011?

    Looking for a new cam...

Ghost, Any particular model that has been the most reliable for you? Ive had some decent cams from different brands but something always seems to go wrong after the first season.

Should we be using ear protection?

Absolutely wear them. My ears are toast and there is no one to blame but me. My deployments and a demolition job coupled with a bad shooting habit has ran it's course. I wear muffs with micro phones while at the range or duck hunting and try to put something on before other hunting shots as best I can. This is one of those things that rely 100% on prevention measures. Once it is gone, you will not get it back. One Mil doc described it to me like this... The little hairs on the inside of your ear have a life expectancy. They have the ability to absorb a certain amount of noise through out your life. The louder the noise you are exposed to and the longer duration you are exposed for is proportionate to the speed the hairs are used up. When they are used up, well... You are up the creek. Apparently I used up 80 years with of ears in about 15.

12x50 vs 15x56-help me make my purchase

I have the 12x now and feel they are the most versatile, all around binocular. Similar to 10x but a bit better. The 15x are perfect when you are glassing big country but struggle pulling double duty at closer ranges.
  21. My luck is really consistent. Just not in the way I would like. Congrats to the winners.

    Zeroing your scopes!!!!

Sounds simple enough. Never heard of the mirror technique. I have rolled them along sloped arrow shafts supporting the main tube. If the crosshairs are not centered in their adjustments, they will appear to wobble.

    Cecil the Lion

I think the general opinion is the outrage was/is not proportionate to the events. Dead Marines / selling baby parts / potentially enabling an aggresive nuclear power vs. an old cat in a foreign land killed by an alleged poacher pumping hundreds of thousands of dollars into that foreign economy regardless of his intentions. Maybe it's just concern for a nations priorities. Do you think the guy that paid big money for a Desert Sheep tag with Sonoran Outfitters is a poacher after he killed the sheep and found out the actual tag was never purchased by the outfitter. I am neither judge nor jury but see a lot of strong judgement about a guy and a lion in a scenario we really don't know much about. What did the shooter actually know regarding the legality? Did you see the dentist trying to destroy the collar?
