Not going to try to sell anyone a safe even though i am a dealer and have been a safe technician for 30 years. If its just a gun locker your looking for Costco safes are cheap and you get a lot of storage for your money. If its true security your looking for then stay away from Costco or SAMs club. Anyone who knows what they are doing can open those safes in a few minutes. There is a reason that a good safe that size will cost around $1500-$2000 and their safe is $600 Look at weight, fire rating and if the safe has hard plates and relockers. A lot depends on what your trying to protect. I wouldn't put 10K worth of guns in a $600 safe but if you only have a couple grand in firearms then your insurance will cover that much and a cheap safe will keep the honest people honest. Also keeps the kids from getting their hands on them. Not beating up anyone who has a Costco safe just stating facts. Try to stay with at least a 1 hour fire rating and ask if the safe is burglary rated. You would be surprised that most cheap gun safes do not have a burglary rating. Just my professional opinion Good luck

I have that tag this year. This is a good example that 400 class bulls can be found in almost any unit in Arizona. I've hunted there a lot but never seen one that big yet. Have seen a few bruisers but that is truly a beauty. I will probably never kill anything that big cause i won't pass up a solid 330 bull for archery. Good job and congrats on a great bull. Your living the dream

How to bring about a consistent draw result release date
1shot replied to Xnt's topic in Elk Hunting
Not to be a butt but if you grade your hunt by the size of your animal that is extremely sad to me. Would I love to kill a giant if I had a 9 10 or another great units tag...... sure but if it worked out and I shot a raghorn I would be just as happy. I love the hunt just as much as I love to spend time in camp, cutting firewood for camp playing cards or spending a few hours in the afternoon fishing at a near by lake with be it with my wife and two little girls or my hunting partners. To me 50% of the hunt is the comrade of your buddy's screwing off or telling jokes or hunting stories or maybe sipping on a beer or nice cocktail telling everyone about your adventures that day......... So just remember that guy that shot that 2 point on the hallowed "strip" probably loved....... and has that story to tell his kids or grandkids. So please don't put people down for shooting something small because it may be small to you but that is a Trophy to them....... that is all amen brother. The size of breast don't make the woman The bigger you are dont make you a man And the size of the rack doesn't make the trophy It's all about the experience -

i sure agree with unit 21 I had the opportunity to help a buddy on his hunt there. Didnt see great numbers but the smallest bull we saw was in the 380 class. My buddy killed a 387 and i saw 2 others killed that were pushing 400 They usually stagger the hunts there with rifle one year, archery the next and then muzzy the 3rd year and then back to a rifle hunt. Usually only 5 tags and every bull we saw only had 1 or 2 cows with him. Great hunt if you can get lucky enough to draw the tag. Elevations are pretty low so expect extremely hot weather but well worth waiting for the tag. I don't mind sharing this info since i don't put in there.

i don't get it. If you apply by paper how do you know yea or nay right then and there? Maybe i misunderstood your point but you still have to wait to find out like anyone else.

Explain this please. If my gun comes out of its holster it will only be to protect my life or the life of my family in a self defense situation and i doubt if I'm going to take time to warn anyone that i have a gun. Your right about being tried in court but if its truly justified you shouldn't be convicted. Nowhere in the law does it state you must warn first. Letter M explains this

Anyone recognize this tree stand and Camera?
1shot replied to Bownut98's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I guess that's what makes us all different. I surely didnt need the generator by any means and can and always will fend for myself but we surely disagree with the way things are going in this great sport we all love. The invitation still stands if you change your mind. -

If anyone has a gererator stolen 1shot has it is pretty specific to me. And then your statement about folks these are our trail camera thieves applied to my post so don't try to backtrack now. Sounds like you called me a thief. But worse than that you referred to me as a liberal and that was a low blow. The name is Jim Anderson and I'm at 38256 N. 136 St in Scottsdale. Come by and see me if you need to discuss this any further or I would be glad to meet for coffee somewhere -

read the post. Forest service gave it to me and I have never screwed with anyone's property. You may not like what I have to say but facts are facts. You only know half the facts. Forest service put out notices in the area and knew about the generator being there and no one claimed it so they chose to give it to me and if someone can tell me what make and model and where they left it i would gladly get to the owner so get your facts straight before you start name calling and threatening people. If you leave your shoot there i will have it removed the legal way. -

I think what we are forgetting is that it is NATIONAL FOREST-PUBLIC LAND and it does not belong to anyone. it does not matter how much work you put into hanging your stand or mounting you camera if you show up at your special spot at 5AM And someone is already there then leave and get up tomorrow earlier and beat them there if you want to hunt there. i do believe that G&F and forest service says if its left there for a certain amount of time its considered abandoned and i think that time is or use to be 72 hours. a good example is 10 years ago i found a generator chained to a tree that had been there for 6 months that i knew of so i called forest service and they cut the chain and gave me the generator. one pull of the rope and it started which tells me they were probably using it to cut and split wood and didn't want to load it up every time they left so they chose to leave it there. shame on them. many times i have hunted certain tanks over the past 30 years and built ground blinds then would show up at that tank the following year and there would be a trail camera and tree stand there(am i suppose to leave because someone put a lot of time and effort into their work) I DONT THINK SO. Its all about first come first serve. if you haul it in then haul it out when you leave for the season. we have all seen chains that have been imbedded in trees because they have been there so long and could eventually kill the tree. KEEP YOUR FOREST CLEAN AND YOUR POWDER DRY -
The last thing I would add is specific to your last comment. Cameras, I have learned in the last 4 weeks, improves a hunters education dramatically about the environment. There is so many things to learn from looking at the pictures you have captured. If we are all being true to improving the animal population, taking mature animals, etc. than what better way than to let a 280" bull walk because you are "educated" to the fact that there are more mature animals to harvest? Likewise, if you learn an area is under populated, make a decision not to hunt there and move on....your analogy suggests cameras are responsible for harvesting big animals as if it a bad thing? How about the twenty or so 2 and 3 year old animals that get to live another year because of the education a camera provided? Lastly, a camera is not a substitution for scouting, etc. I still think this is essential as well. wow you really took that personal. I received a lot of likes for that post so I'm not alone in my thoughts. I'm sure I'm from another generation of hunters and we did it all on our own I'm jumping in on this one...you did it all on your own? What'd u choke your game to death? You never bought a better performing rifle or a nicer set of glass? All of us hunters do things to improve our odds. Cams are no different. GreenMachine you hit it on the money. 1shot if you are claiming that cameras are the reason that more big trophy animals are being killed then why don't we also look at the fact that technology has made better equipment that everyone uses and not just focus on cameras alone. What about high powered rifles and scope by which "hunters" shot there game at further distances (up to 1000 yards)? Ever think about this? How about the increased use of high powered optics and GPS gadgets? How about the increase in dedicated, passionate and hardworking hunters that go the extra mile to harvest a mature animal? How about that fact that some ppl are LUCKY, and the fact that there has been an increased use of outfitters to harvest trophy animals. You make it sound like trail cameras ALONE are the reason for the increase trophy harvest, which by the way how are you coming up with this information that more trophies are being killed?? Some of the biggest trophy animals were killed 50 plus years ago, and they were killed all the time. What has changed is how information spreads. Whenever someone kills a trophy now a days, everyone hears about it so it may seem as if more trophies are being killed. Are there more trophy animals being taken now compared to previous years? Perhaps...but there are also more hunters now then before. If there indeed are more trophies being killed each year, trust me its not because of cameras, its due to a huge combination of factors. Cameras are a tool, just like 15x56 swarovskis, vortex scopes, GPS, quads, maps, high powered rifles, compound bows... they are all tools that help us reach a higher potential as hunters. As mklong40 said, there is EXTREME Ignorance when it comes to people talking about the use of trail cameras. Do ppl really believe that just by putting a camera out you are going to have immediate results and a trophy buck is just going to appear? Most of the time you get nothing. People don't realize the amount of work that goes into utilizing a camera. You have to scout the area first and locate the game before you even put the camera out. I am no one to say that one mans style of hunting is better then the next; as long as it is ethical and legal. Last I checked, camera are still legal. Therefore, please respect the hard work and hunting methods that others use even if they do not aline with yours. 1shot this is not an attack nor do I take it personal, just making a point based on your arguments. P.S. Your comment of "I received a lot of likes for that post so I'm not alone in my thoughts." You only had 1 like when I checked. Yup sounds like a lot to me. not once in my post did i say that cameras were the only reason that trophy animals were being taken i only stated that more are being taken because of the cameras so please read before you start ripping someone for something they did not say. You yourself said that first you locate the game before you put your cameras out and my point was that if you had to pattern that buck yourself instead of watching them on film and knowing when and how often the are hitting certain tanks you might not be as successful. And yes a lot of the biggest trophies were taken years ago and again my post stated 110 inch deer and 380 inch elk which are a far cry from the biggest. It's funny that i also referred to the question about baiting the animal but no one had much to say about that and it seems a lot of times when you see a camera you also see salt blocks, deer candy, corn and anything else that works(and I'm not saying always) but this is a huge issue in my opinion. I myself have talked to outfitters that will tell you they have 3,4 or even more 110 inch bucks hitting tanks and waiting for clients to shoot those bucks because they know that deer are creatures of habit so i just suggested that if they had to spend time to pattern those bucks instead of letting the camera do it for them they wouldn't be as successful. As far as the 1000 yard shots there aren't one tenth of one percent of hunters that could even make a 1000 yard shot. also a lot of my likes were sent by personal friends that are members through text and phone calls so next time i post i will take into consideration that the CWT Police are watching. And last but most important the member that posted the question was not offended at all. we have spoken on the phone with each other in the past and I'm actually helping him to learn a specific unit and have plans to hunt with him this fall. it just seems odd that so many people took this personal and it wasn't intended to attack anyone it is my opinion and i will continue to do everything i can to see that they become illegal to use.
