TUCSON BUTCHER RUINS DEER MEET
SilentButDeadly replied to whisper's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I had an error in my last order of meat that I picked up from them (they gave me two sausage varieties that I didn't order). Otherwise, never had any problem with them. Although, I could have guessed at their volatility from the '$25 dollar a$$-hole removal charge,' and 'listening to your hunting story costs extra' signs they have hanging behind the counter..... The Bionic Buck......'07 Late Hunt
SilentButDeadly replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
hope you leaked the info to somebody who is still out there, better that a 2-legs gets him instead of a 4-legs..... -
Yeah he claimed he found it in a brush thicket theres a few good weather cracks in it though lucky guy... I found a shed a couple weeks ago jammed into a bush, it was brown (some bleaching on the pedicle - the buck jammed it upside down into it) and even had some blood on it still.
-
monsterous, pretty brown for having laid out all summer though,

I hike in trail runners, I stalk in 2-3 pairs of socks, the outside pair is a heavy wool boot sock that I put on after I take my shoes off. Stalking in socks means that you have to pay attention to where you put your feet! I keep an extra large zip-lock bag in my pack to put my shoes in when I take them off (what good is scent lock if you are wafting a pair of hot sweaty shoes with you??)

Anyone Heard From The Super 80
SilentButDeadly replied to GameHauler's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Seriously, Grong, that pic makes me sick. I looked up 'zit from heck' on youtube and honestly threw up. I'm going to stop reading any threads I think you might have posted in just so I don't have to look at that thing. Tyson -
What is the best hunting show on TV
SilentButDeadly posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Which one is your favorite? If I skipped your favorite let me know and I'll can add it in. I'm not making a poll for the WORST SHOW- you can if you've got the time... My vote for worst is 'Huntin with the Judge,' - I watched one show (and that was enough); where (all in Texas) 1.) they shoot a black buck less than 300 yards from a barn; 2.) A guy shoots the wrong Axis deer, than shoots the right one (the deer were still standing there after his first shot, watching their fallen brother) - and as he walks up to the bigger buck you can still see the first one twitching on the ground (dead yet?); 3.) A 'hero returned from Iraq' arrows a monster bull elk eating out of a feed bucket from a blind - hits it high and back (like above the spine high and the last rib back) the elk runs out to 80 yards, he skips an arrow off the ground at it, and after the commercial break they come back to show them 'finding' the dead bull in a completely different forest than the one they were just sitting in. Sorry about the rant but that show was an &$#%ing travesty - poll on! -
Buy the most expensive pair of high power binoculars and a spotting scope you can afford, find a 400-1000 ft mountain, climb up it before sunrise every day for the entire hunt, and GLASS GLASS GLASS! If there are does there are bucks, but you've got to find them. Welcome to Coue's country!

13 months? My Zeiss only took 7 phone calls and 15 emails to get back in 6 months (for a measly broken eye piece)....

Possession of lead ammo prohibited in condor range

We've already got a moat out there, assuming that Las Vegas doesn't drink it first. -
how many of you make your own sausage?
SilentButDeadly replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Get off the I-10 at Prince Rd, go east, it is on the south side of the road, 1015 w Prince Rd, if you go through the light at Fairview you've gone too far. The guys there are very quirky, fun, but quirky - Tyson -

You can buy seasonings pre-mixed from the Sausage Shop here in Tucson -

Smells like an opportunity for some capitalist market growth, 1st to specialize in non-lead ammunition wins the prize. -
We've been having some major winter storm weather the last week. Cold, dark, and rainy down in the valleys. Any thoughts as to whether the weather might force the rut on these deer earlier this year?
-
With a name like DesertBull what are you doing hanging out in the snow? That stuff is cold! I've been seeing fresh rubs the last two weeks... Guess I'll have to start looking for scrapes now too.
-
This is Briggs, and his nose is priceless, so far he has helped locate: By surprise - 3 lion killed deer, 3 winter killed elk, multiple sheds (Coues, Mule, Elk), and about 20 Desert Tortoises (his personal favorite). On purpose - 1 Rifle killed Coue's (saved us hours of searching)

more on Calif. condor issue
SilentButDeadly replied to billrquimby's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Its too bad this has happened in CA, I doubt any non-hunter will look past the headline 'SCI opposes lead ban,' to actually read about the case, leading to further mis-conception in the non-hunting community about hunters. Maybe California will become populated by crack archers now that the gun shooters are going to go away... -
