nopers, haven't seen him since that day 1/1/08 - I think he's dead in a draw somewhere , or at a local taxidermist - maybe I'd be better off scouting those than the hills.... T -

hmm, I guess between 2700-3100ft msl, I'd guess that these particular bucks go as high as 4500 though, depending on their mood/season/etc. -
1 HD HDD camera with super zoomy lenses so I can get better footage of the bone I see running around. 1 70lb Howard Hill Longbow, left handed. 1 E3 Tent Trailer 1 Hybrid 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup truck that gets 60 mpg in town. 1 Tripod that weighs <2lbs but holds my zeiss like it weighs 10. 1 copy of GoogleCoues that can tell me where the bucks are in real time (okay and 1 more copy of GoogleElk, i guess)

Yikes! Thanks for that, I've never hunted turkey before, and there are oodles up there!! I'm fantasizing about the trifecta (deer, turkey, elk!) right now!!! -
Elk Impacting Your Coues Hunts?

I might go up to my elk unit an extra couple days early, and see if I can spot a nice velvet buck while I'm pinning down where the elk are hanging! -
Reading Jim's post about shed hunter quad tracks running around everywhere off-road got me thinking. Why don't we have a pinned thread, a Wall of Shame, of sorts where you can post all of the terrible things you see out there - that way we permanently raise awareness of the kinds of things that ultimately are reflected back upon the hunting community. When you are out and about and you see some yahoo on his quad, take his picture, a headshot, his truck, his quad, and then post it on here. Whadayall think?

I guess I see where you are coming from as far as libeling people - but this is not a newspaper, or televised news program or even a court room - I wonder what the legal ramifications are?

I was telling Casey today - I get my luck from my wife (unfortunately luck swings both good and bad). You are also wise though, Golden Buddha, yes finding antlers is more about persistence and hard work - but by gosh every time I'm out there walking I swear it is dumb luck that helps me kick a shed out of the dirt before I step over it.

2007 Buck Pics..Fresh from the Taxi

I thought Dean did a good job on my Coues too. -
No wonder you didn't get drawn this year, you blew all of your luck on finding those things, from your truck, going 70mph!?!! Unbelievable! Maybe you should learn to meditate and focus your inner Chi - I bet you could levitate or something one day if you practice enough. Shoot, just look at those 400 inch bulls you helped on last year, then glassing a fricking Jaguar -- more evidence of your inner luck charm, Heck, I'm going to call you the 'Golden Buddha' from now on.

Yikes, you are a lucky man. Awesome finds as to what made that bull die, I can only guess...

help me focus on which new bows to try

I've got a Unit 8 tag too, so maybe you shouldn't listen to my advice IMO, go with the new PSE X-Force Long Draw, ya its a barn burner, but its designed for a long draw shooter such as yourself. http://www.pse-archery.com/prod.php?k=57248&u=0810HF -

For everyone who believes dreams can come true: Lady Luck has visited me, 1 bonus point draw for Unit 8 Archery!!! And now the months of cursing the tag begin: ....appeasing the wife into letting me go for two weeks.... .....paying $$$$ for gas and missed wages going on scouting trips..... ....sleepless nights.... ....finally getting out there and having everything go wrong. Ha! I don't care! I'm going AZ BULL ELK HUNTIN!!!

9/12-9/25 8 ARCHERY BULL GOOD LUCK you saved my life, thank you good sir... I'm still quivering like a 6 year old girl looking at bigfoot!

interesting to see the mules still packing -- did you get a good look at those does to see if any had bloody stumps on top? Tyson

So I had an interesting afternoon yesterday. I went out to my parent's house for dinner and thought I'd drive up to the local trailhead and do some glassing before dark. Near the parking area is a little knoll, so I figured I'd climb that (less than 100 yards) and glass since all I had on were flip-flops. As I left the vehicle I thought 'ehh, I'll leave the fanny pack w/ video camera here - I've never seen any bucks out here anyway,' No sooner than I got to the top of the hill I saw 2 deer going up the other side of the next drainage, I put my binos on them and saw that one was a buck, and he was missing an antler! I thought wow - muley's and one of them is dropping his antlers right now! Well, then the buck lifted his tail up and I about sh#$ myself. What I thought was a nice size 3x muley was actually the biggest Coue's I've ever seen! AND HE WAS MISSING ONE SIDE!!! Anywho, they went over the ridge before I could get my tripod set up. I gave them a few minutes and then went running down the hill, across the drainage, and up the other side (in flip flops). I spotted them again and got a good look that time. The antler was actually broken off at the G1, so no he wasn't shedding - however he was still in the 110-120 range if he'd had both sides (I guessed him at 110 w no eye guard - busted off). Thats when I got really upset that I'd decided to leave my camera in the truck, and wear flip-flops. So, the poll question is: Do you always see the big ones when you are unprepared?

draw results? were we supposed to put in for elk and antelope already? Oh @#$%!!
