I'd say post it IF you know it is him -- is the picture of him with bolt cutters, camera in hand? I've got a few photos of unsuspecting hikers on my cams... Didn't GRONG get a camera ripped off; and when he found the guy he stood with one hand on the pumper truck hose and the other on the reverse pump lever and asked him to please return it??? Now that is leverage!!

I've got a non-HD Fujinon and it sucks compared to their HD version. My father-in-law runs a Zeiss 85 diascope and it knocks my socks off every time i use it. go on ebay, wait and watch for an HD and get it w/o sales tax for less.

Seasonal Differences on Hunt Success

I'd like to see the error bars on those numbers... They could be + or - 10% which blows the statistical significance -
Sweet!

Personally I'm afraid of a high success rate late hunt for muleys (come on, they're DUMB during the rut)... The quality of SOAZ mules is good (but rare), if you add a late hunt you'd be preferentially taking better animals out, lowering quality on an already depleted population. I'd be for a decrease or temporary end to rifle muley tags across SO AZ to increase numbers and quality (for example, the Tucson Mountain Hunt Area is teeming with older deer due to the limited Archery only season). I think the greatest issue with muleys is #1 development and fragmentation of habitat; #2 prolonged drought -- I heard a talk here at the UA the other day that climatologists are predicting the current drought to go on into 2013; #3 competition from these darn Coue's deer that have decided they can live in the desert too -- a recent census of deer on the loop road in Saguaro National Park East found that Coue's have replaced the Desert Muleys at low elevations (likely a product of issues #1 and #2). Tyson ps, the current drought is likely not a product of human induced climate change, it is within the historic range of variability of long term (+25 year) drought cycles...

I got sick of carrying my Zeiss 15x60 on my chest, under my arm, with a chest harness, or strapped into my pack waist belt... The weight of them pulls down on your neck, they bounce around, and are at risk of damage when you trip and fall. I put them in my pack now with the tripod, and wear a pair of 8x40 leitz trinovids on my chest, super light, super clear, and easy to see the horns on any animal I jump up. If you're gonna wear um on the outside, use a basic neck strap, lengthen them up and insert them between you and your waist belt on your pack, the pressure of your gut on them keeps um put, and the weight totally off your neck, and they are instantly available to spot jumped game. Another guessing game!
SilentButDeadly replied to soazarcher's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I'm gonna guess that he dropped his other horn on his way to or from water. It's been hot lately. Figure out which way his fav' water hole is and keep those boots and eyes moving. -
interesting to see that broken beamed buck - it looks like he broke it recently - I saw the same thing on a buck last year around this time. Makes me wonder about really late rutting activity. T

pretty much the most awesome use of 10 minutes at work today (or any day really)! Any more details about that other dead bull??? Who ever shot him was probably desperate to find him. T

One of the worst types of posts to make...

Gaggers!! I'd have to say you can't do the h3 between the extra tines; it looks like one point erupting from the beam, so you'd have to do 2 out on the end... Who cares though!!??

better than 95% of what I see on TV!

good stuff Bill, looks like a Jemez bull!

2-3 years older? Is Gail's shed all ashy and worn? It looks fairly recent, at least as recent as your pick-up. Can't you be happy thinking that this might be the son-of-a-buck??

No problems for me yesterday... But I guess I am using the UofA's T1 ethernet connection. -
10 5/8th? That's as big as the Big G2!! I'm gonna have to go remeasure! 51 2/8ths? That's way bigger than the Big G2!! I guess I'll call this one 'The Bigger G2 Buck!'

To be brief, I call him the Big G2 because his G2's are over 11 inches. I found a matched set of his sheds last year. I thought he might have been the buck I killed in September, but he wasn't. I saw him in February and took some photos. This morning I found one of his sheds from 2 years ago while out searching for this year's rack (which has thus far eluded me). Last year's rack February This mornings 2 year old shed.

"Its definitely not the best footage out there..." ---- No, probably just the best self-filmed footage i've ever seen, frickin awesome... How did you anchor the camera? To your waist? Here's a link to my 2008 Bull hunt (father-in-law cameraman in tow) T

He looked pretty poor last January ('08) with the big tumor on his face, looked bad in September ('08), didn't see him again until February ('09), thats when I noticed how white his coat is getting and how his ribs are poking out. He still walks okay, not too gimpy. I'm gonna keep an eye out for him, who knows if he's gonna make it through this summer.

Went out and got the pics off the trail cam this morning. I've been seeing him at night on it, but these are the first day time images. White fur, ribs showing, regressed rack.... He's been getting smaller in the horn for the last 3 years. So how old is he???
