It was commercially made, not hand forged. It's even stamped I R for inside right. I doubt they've been made commercially since driving ox fell out of favor over a century ago. Ox often pulled ore wagons in AZ where trains didn't operate.

That's a terrible picture, did you take the rock home and clean it up? Looks like a possible piece of flowstone, calcium carbonate. If it is, put some vinegar on it and there will be a reaction. Slight possibility of asbestos, any loose fibers? Better pics please.
