If you hunt there, pick up a lion tag too and the reservoir above town is great for trout, Recapture between Blanding and Monticello holds great pike and bass.

If you go to CO go thru Monticello on the way. I lived on a little farm east of town. Was common to see 150 deer each day. I returned from town one fall afternoon around 2008, to see 69 bucks and a spike elk in my front pasture. Yeah there's deer there and the farmers and town folk are having a tough time dealing with them. We called them Swift forest rats.

I lived in this unit 9 years. There are more deer in this area than nearly anywhere ive ever seen. They've built deer crossings along the Hiway with motion activated signs to let motorists know when the deer are crossing. Monticello itself is brimming with deer and the town folk are sick of them, even considering sharpshooters at night to cull the herds. Abajo Range

I enlisted under Carter but was proud of the Reagan's. I'm sad to hear of her passing.

You're too kind. I was just a dumb kid The NCO that night came back in and I told him I just talked to Air Force One and he screamed with laughter. That is until he read the log. Later, our fearless leaders advised us Nancy Reagan's mother lived in the valley(?) and we could expect more chats with AF1 and there better not be any lowly airman answering the radio.

Christmas Eve, 1981; I was the lowest ranking enlisted man in the unit. I was paired up with the lowest ranking NCO to work the night shift at Luke AFB WX. Even the surprise visit of base commander Brig. Gen Canterbury wearing a Santa cap and bearing homemade Christmas cookies couldn't diminish my depression from being away from family and home over the holidays. How many more holidays would I be screwed out of till I could stick it to the next new guy? Routinely, pilots would call us via radio for landing data and it was up to the ranking man to answer. On that night, my NCO had just stepped out for a cigarette when the radio crackled, "Air Force One to Luke Metro, come in please." I about crapped my dress blues. I looked down the halls, no NCO. I picked up the mic. "Luke Metro, Amn Morrison." "Air Force One requesting landing weather, Sky Harbor Airport?" I read off the data to the pilot with undoubtedly the most important cargo imagineable, President Reagan and the First Lady. I reached for the call log expecting to next hear only Air Force One, out. But instead a moment later the pilot came back over the radio. "The President and First Lady have asked me to wish you a Merry Christmas and thank you for your service. Air Force One, out." Do I think the Reagan's asked the pilot to convey this message? I certainly do.

can we narrow that down to say, cross streets?

YOU are on the east side?

He didn't brush you or pick out your hooves? I can see pack animals coming back into vogue. The way these lib Presidents are trying to stake their legacy is cutting out monuments and Wilderness Areas. Selling a guided hunt on horseback and back into primitive areas in the sw has to be more about the experience, not the trophy's in my opinion if you can't be out there weekly finding the record breakers. I also wish AZ could recognize the difference between guides and outfitters.

http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/64163-pack-in-scouting-trip/ As was stated in this thread, ∆ Im willing to help anyone with a genuine want to learn. Leaving Tuesday with a hunter from Coueswhitetail that wants to learn packing. Several years ago, I got fed up sleeping on the ground while my buddies packed in cots, chairs, tents and all the accoutrements that makes a great camp, splendid. I asked a buddy to learn me. Went packing a minimum 3 days a week for several months. He put me on his green colts to school them while I learned packing from him. Guide schools cannot teach you horsemanship in an abbreviated course. They mainly concentrate on Decker and sawbuck pack saddle tacking and fit, filling panniers and building top packs and different lash hitches. It's what you need to know but if you are like me, you have to do it repeatedly after school is out or you'll forget. Come along on a pack trip and see if it's still something you want to do... Got everything on this big boy for two hunters to be very comfortable a week or more. Tying the double diamond hitch. Stringing two

Sorry, what's an "SD?"

Used to go there as a kid. We polished them all up and made jewelry. Poor Mom got a lot of tacky obsidian jewelry for years! That's funny Wink! My granddad had a rock tumbler. We had so many Apache Tears and geodes they were placed in rock gardens and made great slingshot ammo, too.

One reason AZ has so many meteorites is our arid climate. Most meteorites are iron, iron rusts away. Best place to find some is in Franconia, AZ using a metal detector.http://www.meteorite-times.com/bobs-findings/franconia-before-the-gold-rush/"]
