If ya know where Magee Jr high is, there is or was a meteor tracking station on the property west of the campus. They use radar to lock on to falling objects and triangulate with other stations to estimate impact locations. Local meteorite hunters use slow, fixed wing aircraft to hunt meteorite impacts. They show up well on dry lake beds. I think I may have found an unknown impact crater 90 minutes west of town using Google Earth. When I go varmit calling this week, taking the metal detector.

How do you become a crack shot and accomplished hunter? For one boy growing up in an East Texas sharecroppers farm, it was a necessity. After a day of brutal farm chores were through there was still the need to put some meat on the table for the family. The boy would hold out his hand as his mother dropped the lone .22 cartridge into his, it was all the ammo the family could ration per day back in the height of the Depression. If the boy missed his quarry, he'd have to watch that night at the dinner table as his brothers, sisters and mother went to bed hungry, unnourished. In a short time that boy would grow up to become this nations highest decorated soldier.
