How do you become a crack shot and accomplished hunter? For one boy growing up in an East Texas sharecroppers farm, it was a necessity. After a day of brutal farm chores were through there was still the need to put some meat on the table for the family. The boy would hold out his hand as his mother dropped the lone .22 cartridge into his, it was all the ammo the family could ration per day back in the height of the Depression. If the boy missed his quarry, he'd have to watch that night at the dinner table as his brothers, sisters and mother went to bed hungry, unnourished. In a short time that boy would grow up to become this nations highest decorated soldier. Forty five years ago today, he and several others died when the plane they were in crashed into a foggy Virginia mountain side. R I P 28 May 1971 Audie Murphy

I really enjoyed last year's banquet and like to go again. Think I'll get a room this year so I can take full advantage of the beer specials. The following day is Father's Day, I can run cross town over to the old bull's for a visit. -
I'd like to read the article but Wash Post said I've read enough. Please copy and paste.

Sweet Chibi. My old Ford does wheelies too, every time my mother in law sits on the tailgate.

What a life of spectacular highs and lows. If I remember correctly, he lost his quarter horse ranch in Pima County, in a poker game. While dead broke he continued to refuse liquor and cigarette endorsements that would have paid him $100,000s, due to how his young fans like me might have been adversely affected.

It's been a few years since me and the posse rode thru the keyhole. Bruce at top pic is mostly Chiricuahua Apache. Just saw him on Legends of Billy the Kid a few nights ago.The director even gave him some lines. But if you head down towards Turkey Creek, take a swig of bourbon for ol Johnny Ringo. Have a great trip, take lots of pics of those beautiful mtns.

Why Airedale? They have a tough coat to care for don't they? I have two imposing Boxers, one bites me if the gf says to. -

The dog thing really worked for us last year. At least gave them a heads up we were there before they got too close. But its unnerving when you're a mile from camp and you hear your dog off in the distance going beserk. When taking animals on hunts or scouting, I find myself tethered to them anyway. Most of my horses can break their lead or halter if they wanted to and my only mule is an escape artist. High lined with hobbles on, I still try and keep the animals in sight and I don't think I venture more than 500 yards away. The critters seem to find trouble from tangled lines, broken gear to skunks. -

Keeps crows out of the garden, should keep illegals and libtards out of Camp too. And with him in the truck on the drive down, I can use the carpool lane! -

When packing in the border units, I've worried about an impatient or desperate dope runner stealing one or all of my animals off the picket line while I sleep. Having a watch dog in camp might be the ticket. -
exactly, get em most every time I'm down to T town (and an eegee) but the steak fingers were even better 40+ years ago.
