Yeah, I didn't want to waste any meat. JKHe was running thru some brush and only gave me a head shot. Bullet entered below that ear and came out between his eyes. What color were his eyes? One blew right and one blew left? Funny. Pretty sure he didn't suffer. The exit wound made it a lot easier to remove his skull cap cuz I had only packed in a pocket saw. Mike took in his wicked alien saw but it was so sharp it could take your limb off if you just looked at it wrong.

Sweet rifle. Which maker stamp is on it? I had a Winchester 1917 sporterized and improved to .300 H&H. Rifle was a thumper, can't believe I let it go. I didn't even mind the $2-3 per round but ammo availability was lacking.

Mike, that rifle has taken down 4 species of deer, and a couple antelope. One year back in the 90s, we both took elk with it in seperate hunts. Dad semi-retired it in '75 but after trying a Weatherby 7mm and a Rem 7600, only to go back to the ol Meatpole in the last years he hunted. It was handed down to me 15 years ago. Here's a shout out to pops, a WWII vet and my personal hero. He turns 90 in a couple weeks. He taught me how to hunt, appreciate nature and sit quiet.

He's probably at the clinic receiving treatment now...

One of the vets I took elk hunting has become a close family friend. And although he lives 4 hours away, he's brought his family over for camping, fishing, horseback riding and enjoying the Superbowl. He's of Italian descent and we love how he takes over the kitchen on his visits. Was a great chance to give back to some great guys. -
UPDATE: Hoghntr Jr has arrived and we couldnt be happier. :)

We've always eaten healthy but now the ol lady is counting the calories too. Now she's realizing why I rolled my eyes each time she heaped the food on. Smaller servings and 30 minutes of intense workouts daily has equalled 8 pounds of weight loss per week.

I heard about Silver Creek for the first time last night.

I spent yesterday in Wickenburg visiting friends and getting stuck in traffic jams. The little town is suffering from urban sprawl. Heard there were plans to build 40,000 more homes. The town was founded in the old West and the horse dung is right where it belongs, under the heels of cowboys.

I've met your sisters and they reminded me of sushi.

My first deer tag was metal. Way to make a guy feel old, Cliff.

The only thing missing is a good sushi bar.

Excellent post and a selfless act.

31 years ago today... One of Reagan's most memorable and healing speeches.

The Challenger trajedy was exactly 19 years and a day following the Apollo 1 fire which claimed 3 astronauts. Both accidents could have easily been avoided had NASA higher ups listened to their engineers. Some of you may not have known that Luke AFB was an alternative landing strip for the shuttle program. I watched the lift off and explosion live while sending NASA landing data. It was a heart breaking day. After 9 previous Challenger missions, I think Americans became a little complacent about the dangers of space flight.

Glad you can take good advice. I just finished working on my electric box for my shop. Some anxious moments with my screwdriver for sure..
