Just now found this. Great bulls and awesome story as always. But I'd have a veterinarian look at them pack mules, something odd there.

I don't. The 1860 just needs a new wedge spring, simple fix and they're available . The hand spring breaking or weakening is so common I can't find a replacement from Uberti. I'm going to try a heat treatment on it and see if I can't breath some new life into it.

Glad you're OK. Two of theses pistols I have pictured are often out of battery., or timing. It's duets a weak finger spring in the .45 Peacemaker and a poorly fitted barrel wedge in the 1860 army. Cleaning day for the ol timey guns.

No idea, not a movie I've seen. Supposedly they were packing these with up to 60gr. That's more than the 45-70 carbine cartridges. I can tell you 50gr is a hoot.

Lonesome Dove? I.know a lot of them did blow up due to 19th century metallurgy and also panicked combatants loading the conicals backwards.

Here's an obvious clone. The Texas Rangers approached Colt, wanted a revolver capable of killing man or horse at 50 yards, one shot. They got this pistol capable of killing man or horse at 100 yards

Correct. The rifle that saved Remington after the Civil War. I believe this was made overseas as it was made in 45-70 and I don't believe they were built domestically in that caliber. At least not built for Uncle Sam.

Haha +10 Great service guys. A buddy used yall a year or two ago when he couldn't find time to zero in a new rifle before a late elk hunt. Apparently the RSOs have time to watch the movements of visitors using the vending machines. Last time I went to Ben Avery, I was screamed at for eating an M&M with peanuts near the shooting line lol. Yup, I'm a rebel. 3 years later, I'm the RSO. Have had to ask one individual I saw drawing from the hip to holster his weapon and put it away since he wanted to argue. Still, I didn't need to scream. Dang good thing he didn't compound the infraction with an M&M.

I dated this machine to 8July1926.

Would you spend this much on a Benchmade knife?

I'm at the local Goodwill searching for props for my new acting gig... And all of a sudden I see a 1/4 scale M1857 12 pounder cannon and caisson being put.out for sale, $7.59 later, I have an artillery piece. I do my research, it's a 50 year old, functional, black powder cannon made in Spain. Although it's called a .70 cal, she fires a .680" ball with a max 85gr charge. Can't wait to touch her.off The balls or mold are kind.of spendy online Ever heard of grape shot?. .177 BBs will work. Come to find out these are available in a 1 1/4" bore, too.
-
The mold I recall is $120, I do a lot of casting for black powder, or can get the .68cal balls online for about $1 ea. Till I decide which route to take, I'll keep working with grapeshot. Need to video more toys vs cannons. Was thinking woke toys would be a 'blast.' Ya know, Woody, Buzz, Bert and Earnie. Any requests?
