Ammo manufacturers were producing cartridges at peak numbers prior to the Covid lockdowns. Then you had disruptions in manpower, supply lines and distribution. It's an election year and you have a major political party promising its followers to take the citizens guns away. Add to that the annual attacks on guns and ammo each time there's a shooting and the opposition's results are predictable. Those opposed to buying up stores of ammo call it hoarding. Those buying up the available ammo believe they are either hedging or preparing. Next came the civil unrest which always causes weapons and ammo to fly off the shelves. But unlike the previous years of ammo shortages, the riots have driven first time gun buyers into the market. 40% of the guns sold this summer went into the hands of first time firearm buyers. With those guns went the ammo to feed them. Not only does the newbie gun buyer put a strain on supplies, the fledgling shooters think the higher prices on ammo are the norm and are perfectly content to shell out the extra money needed to protect themselves and family. One thing the major ammo makers are agreeing on is the current situation isn't ending anytime soon. Some cartridge manufacturers say that even with a pro gun presidential win this November to help normalize the market, it could be 2022 before we see shelves stocked back to 2019 levels. But even so, don't look for 2019 prices.

I had a similar experience when Fletcher's was in town. They were supposed to do a complete fluids change on my truck but they failed to replace the rear end grease. I made it up to San Juan County, Ut. loaded up the truck and trailer with hay bales and made it about 70 miles back, breaking down near Mexican Water on the Navajo Res. Not a drop of oil in the rear end/axle. Cost me several days broke down along the road, before the only bright spot in the misadventure, a sympathetic Navajo family took me in. Meanwhile my ol lady in Phoenix searched for an affordable axle. In all I spent two weeks with the Begay family. They shared everything they had with me out there in the middle of nowhere and they didn't have a lot. I have tried to repay them again and again. I filled their barn with hay, paid for help replacing the axle and still drop in with groceries.

Oh yeah, all the agencies were buying millions of rounds. Did Obammer think he was depriving us?

I hear ya. Ever since Kev sent me that hyper link redirecting me to the NAMBLA homepage, I be careful too.

Strictly private. Hint, careful with the table dances. They just don't build them like they used to. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/09/09/nationwide-ammo-shortage-as-americans-stock-up-amid-civil-unrest/

Yes and no, he's a rabid Trump supporter but knows too well the opposition's ability to cheat, steal and lie.

Testing the waters here... I may be putting 1500 rounds of 556, 55gr PMC up for sale for a friend. Would there be any interest at .45 -.50¢ a round, 500rd minimum?
-
The dude with the PMC has decided to sit on it through the election. He doesn't want Sleepy Joe to win but speculates what a Biden win will do to ammo prices and availability..

The ol lady wants a divorce, the kids are hers. They take a hike, time to learn what a great guy they had. There's no cell service cuz the ol lady went with Cricket so her little terrors could be on the family plan. The gal stopping to offer me gas is a successful stripper with sell out shows in Vegas, 40 miles ahead. She suddenly realized we dated in high school and she still carries a torch. She slides over and we exit the chit show in her 3LT Vette convertible hoping to make the Excalibur buffet before her next show. As we hit 140 on hwy 93, she asks if I'd have any interest in managing her 30000 acre private hunting ranch in ñorthern Idaho...

If it becomes available ill let you know.

When I was working as a commercial fisherman in AK I used to love having the union dock workers sit in their heated, enclosed forklifts with stereos blasting. They would drink coffee and eat bologna sandwiches while we deckhands built pallets of fish or crab. It was sometimes -20F and snowing horizontally as we busted butt with no sleep, building these pallets, anxious to get back fishing. Once built, the union dock workers picked up a pallet and moved it a couple hundred feet into a container. This took the forklift operator about 30 seconds. Took us about 15 minutes to build a pallet. Thank goodness there were three forklift operators there (sarcasm) cause at least once an hour each forkie roared into action.

My dad was a Teamster nearly 30 years. 70 years ago his union negotiated a contract with the mining company's to give the nitro glycerin delivery drivers like dad an extra couple bucks a week as hazardous driving pay. Woohoo. When it came time to consider retirement, the union rep blatantly lied about dad's vestment costing dad thousands in annual retirement dollars. When called into question, the rep vanished into the unions folds like that car salesman at the lot promising you AC or a power sliding rear window but putting nothing in writing before vanishing at the sale managers behest. The union was notoriously corrupt and got powerful off the backs of their members. All while filling the coffers of equally corrupt DNC war chests. You can thank the auto workers union for a $10000 car costing $30000.
