  1. Funny and interesting trail cam pictures / videos are in demand... Here is your chance

If you have a good picture you might get a replacement cam for one you lost....

Cabela’s Memories in the Field television show will be airing a new segment this fall.

This segment will feature trail-camera photos and videos sent in by viewers.

If Memories in the Field uses one of your images or video clips on a show, you will receive a trail camera from

Bushnell OutdoorProducts, the sponsor of the segment. And don’t think you have to capture animage of the

trophy of a lifetime to be eligible to win the weekly prize. Producer Tyler Dallmann will be looking

for a variety of interesting, funny and unique photos and video clips to encourage viewer participation.

“Trail cameras have become such a big part of scouting and hunting. Seeing the critters that roam the

woods while we’re at work, or asleep, gives us added incentive and confidence when hunting season

finally gets here. And hunters seem to enjoy sharing and comparing their trail-camera pictures, so this seems like a

natural fit for Memories in the Field, the show that allows outdoors enthusiasts to share their hunting and fishing video

    memories with the world.”

Only original trail camera images and video, submitted by the camera owner, will be accepted. Winners will be required to

sign a letter of ownership of the image or clip before it can be aired. You may send all trail camera images and

    video clips to trailcam@cabelas.com

    Good Luck!

  2. Ethical, Legal, moral, are definitely subjective.... a lot like politics. Opinions are that way also. Everyone has one and someone else will think it stinks.

When I look at this rule, or others, I try to determine if what I am doing meets the "Spirit of the law" if not the letter of the law.

I view the "attractant" and "Advantage" points to be from an "interactive" angle. Using radios or cameras for example should not be a problem before a season, while scouting, but communicating real time info During a hunt would not meet the "spirit" of what the law intended.... at least to me.

Someone else might use radios and some code words to avoid breaking the law, but they certainly are breaking the spirit of the law even though they never say one word about game, they manipulate the situation to meet their own lack of ethics.

Great topic, Sure wish I showed up to this topic sooner but I guess it's better late than never.

  3. I read a story recently about a company in TX I think that has a battery that is supposed to replace lead acid designed ones we all use now. This is made for electric cars and will run for 200 miles or more and recharges in 45 minutes. It acts more like a capacitor that delivers and larger units of power in short intervals.

At this rate, they may be giving gas away soon sonce no one will need it. Livin the dream....

  4. Hey Scottyboy,

Sounds like the next 6-10 years I will be covering your southern border for a change down here in Wyoming... LOL

I am coming up on a year now being away from my lifelong home in AZ, and I have not regretted the move at all.

Lots of new experiences to have, jobs to do and people to meet.

I found the Cold isn't that tough to get used to.... Its the darned cold WIND that makes it miserable at times.

Enjoy your new home and Job and know that there is probably no better place to raise a family than in a small town.

Share some of your new sights and hunts with us when you get settled.

Now we have a couple CWT stickered vehicles in this part of the country maybe we'll get some new sightings.

    Travel safe!

  5. Wiley Bucks know when you are there and just sit tight. If you move around a lot, they will pick you out and you'll never catch them. I think only seeing a couple bucks and that many does says you have some bucks that are trying to stay out of sight.

I'd agree that waiting a few weeks more then scouting hard for a couple days in that area might be worth your time.

Get high, get comfy, plan to stay the whole day and you'll likely find them if you glass hard enough and long enough.

    Good Luck

  6. I do a lot more highway driving and although my comment is related more to light truck and SUV for primarily street use, I thought you might be interested in this.

In the last 5 weeks I have had 2 highway speed blowouts (1 rear, 1 front) on my truck, with less than 20k miles and less than 2 years old all season tires. Dunlop GT Qualifiers. Won't ever buy Dunlops again. Both blewout after running about 90 miles at 65-75mph on good roads. About 18 months ago I had 1 other of the same tires replaced due to a sidewall cut driving on the street in glendale AZ. 3 out of 4 dunlop tires failed in less than 2 years. There's something to put on your advertisements.

Oh, Road hazard warranties by the way, generally are good for no more than 3 years. If you don't drive a lot and tires last more than 3 years, consider if the RH will be worth it for you.

I also replaced 4 Hankook tires HRO3 I think on the wife's SUV which were rated for 60k but we only got about 30k on them, all on road driving.

Our driving is primarily highway speeds with 30-40 miles minimum between stops, and I can't afford to chance bad tires.

Big O tires always wore super fast on my vehicles and since I have no discount tire near me, I find that some of the best information on choosing tires can be found at www.tirerack.com . Lots of MFR information, specs, weather and speed ratings, revs per mile etc.. plus a vast library of actual customer user ratings and comments. I also find them to have very good pricing and quick delivery.

So far, I have bought 2 full sets of tires from them and think they will be my main source from here out.

  7. Nohoch,

After you get out and do some personal get aquainted groundwork, shoot me a PM and once we compare notes, I will share some areas that I used to use that consistently produce good, (not great, but good) deer.

I will tell you now though, you better be ready to hike!

  8. Wimpified people produced by years in public education have been indoctrinated to the liberal way of thinking that weapons, hunting and any form of "violence" is bad. Private land owned by anti- hunters, Higher license and fees associated with the sport, and couch potato kids that would rather play with a game cube than set foot outdoors to see real game are just part of the problems. Chronic Wasting Disease associated with game animals also makes people not want to risk exposure to the disease.

Lots of real reasons, so pick one. 10% is a lot though. Maybe we should look at it like AGFD does. The decline in those that do hunt, will give the remaining hunters more opportunity. I see it now... AGFD was right afterall !

  9. Yeah, Wyoming is suiting me just fine. Nice people and great country. I'm going to check into getting my general Elk, antelope and deer tags in a few weeks since that will mark my 1 year residency in Wyoming.

Mike, I think the unit was 22?

The bloody drag marks were more "slide marks" as this ram pumped out most of his blood 200 yards uphill before he fel and wedged into that crevice.

We pried him out and what you see is where he finally ended up.

Great experience, but lots of work, without horses or quads.

  10. Thanks for all the comments, I'll pass them on.

This ram obviously had a close call with death previously so it gives it a lot of character too. If you look closely at the left Horn, and note how it appears broomed a bit more and shorter than the right one. That horn has a bullet hole right through it and we cannot see for any way how it could not have hit this Ram before passing through it. Amazing stuff.

He is a bit more than a full curl on the right and about 7/8 on the left. Aged to about 7+ .

Yeah it was super rugged but really quite beautiful too. The first 200 yards made this one of the toughest game recovery scenarios I have ever been involved in. Not for the weak of heart or spirit. 60 degree loose sandy and rocky slopes, A real Fear of personal injury and such keeps you respectful of nature.

Here's another picture of the area for rugged reference.

  11. I'm beat.... I though AZ had some tough hunting but Badlands in Wyoming are incredibly tough. Beautiful but tough.

With me "guiding" Ha ha, and packing, My brother in law took a really nice sheep today. The spot an stalk went great with a 2 hour wait him out before he stood up and presented a clear shot from 350 yards. Enjoy the Pics... Oh I'm trying to show my very first digi-scope pic from 800 yards too. It's a bit fuzzy but shows 3 legal rams and the one we took is on the far left. (biggest one we saw)

  12. Ya know, You all seem to take for granted these are illegals carrying drugs to the US. How do you know which direction they were headed or if they actually have drugs in them backpacks. It might be they have all their gear for a hunting trip for the week. I am surprised at everyone .. . Oh, the guy with the gun... he may be protecting the rest of them from cats with a water gun.

    OK, Back to reality....

You all be careful out there. I'm heading out to spot point and pack for a sheep hunt... Later

  13. Wooo Hooo Scottyboy

Glad to hear you got your wish. Again!

Montana will love you and you and your family will love it back I am sure. It will be a big culture shock for you but it is not in a bad way.

You'll have to find time to learn to speak "Canuk" Eh,. Cause those northern border jumpers don't usually speak spanish.

Remember, Cabela's ships anywhere so when you need to update the family in warm outerwear, keep the catalog handy.

I think we should hold a raffle before you leave . A good plan might be to Raffle off some of your honey holes along the border. that oughta get you some traveling cash!

Take care and look me up if you get to Sidney, NE or Southeastern Wyoming!

    I

  14. Thanks for the image. I forgot what them critters looked like. I'll be heading out to help spot one for my brother-in-law next weekend in north central Wyoming. He drew a tag after 16 years of trying. Only 2 tags in the unit too! Should be fun, and moreso now that I know what they look like!

  15. Dang... I'm late for the party again!

Being Politically Correct is a liberal's way of invoking their ideas on everyone else. I don't like it.

Fact is, you can say something a lot of different ways, and if there are 100 people in a room, someone will take offense no matter how you put it.

Just call em like you see um.

Say what you mean, Mean what you say and have common sense about who your audience is.

When you go to tell a joke, I would guess you don't tell it the same way for adults and children, or men or women.

God gave us brains and concience to help keep us out of trouble. If you don't use em, you will wish you had.
