I may have to take a trip back to 6A to get a shot at a lion. Just so happens that is the unit where one almost had me for lunch in 2001! Seriously, aside from my encounter, the entire hunt trip we saw lion tracks several times in the same general area. I might have to go up and try to call one in. 6a might be a good unit to put in for coues too! maybe bag a lion during scouting and a nice buck later. OK.. I know I know... But a guy has to set his sights high, right?

Wetmule Funny thing is while my wife was in the waiting room and then in the treatment room, she said she felt bad that I was going to miss the meeting. She said to go ahead and go. Yeah right. You folks probably would have questioned my sanity if I did that! Okay, you might question that anyway... Not sharing a lot of details now, but she has been to the several times this year and this week was a particularly bad week. 6 hours waiting in an ER Monday night plus 3 hours in the exam room started things off wrong. Wen to a different ER and spent 2 hours waiting and 4 hours in exam. She had more tests and DR appts Today and Friday but no one can pin down the real problem. Major furstrating for both of us! Anyway I will look for the minutes on the site. Okay, I just found them but only through Feb 2005.? Lots of good info and insight into the core members and the issues as a recap for someone interested. God willing, I will make it to a future meeting!

Josh just has the midas touch when it comes to sheds. Comes from sleepless nights counting sheds, not sheep!

I REALLY planned to attend the meeting tonight but spent the evening in the Emergency Room with my wife for the 2nd time in 3 days. 2 visits, for 15 hours combined! Anyway I am sure you all would agree, Family first, so I will have to make the next meeting. Looks like they hold board meetings monthly, but the meeting tonight was an annual meeting. Are the board meetings open to other than board members? Are the minutes of the meeitngs published? What did I miss besides dinner?

I agree, this is a great topic. When I have scouted an area and in a few regular areas I hunt, there seem to be a few spots that almost always have does in them. Like it is their "Home". Findings of .073 miles that Amanda mentioned definitley fit in with what I have seen. As far as bucks home range, I think we all know if they are in a spot one time, it is only a matter of time till they are back. That is one reason why we use trail cams and set up in the same places frequently. Great information! thanks

Looking forward to meeting some CWD members at the ADA meeting tomorrow night. It is time to put in some payback for the enjoyment I have received from the sport. Talked to my usual hunting partner and he will be there too. LATER.

Very interesting pictures. I guess we all can add another thing to the list of things that "CAN" happen. If we only had tags and time to be there like the camera.

Destroyed Trail Cam

Is that the same spot you had it when you snapped shots of that nice buck a while back? If is is one of the 35mm cameras, maybe he smelled the film and thought it was a snack! Cool pictures though. I assume he tore up the housing but the camera was okay since you got the film out of it? Sounds like a stronger camera housing and go to digital. The spot looks good! Thanks for sharing the pics -
I plan to attend an ADA meeting in the near future but before I do... I am curious about the ADA and yes, I have read much of their site including previous newsletters, but did not see any info on how many members the ADA has? After the small amount of research, one thing puzzles me. So many posts about the ADA ask for new members and new board members. Is the ADA desperate for just anyone to fill a board position or is the goal to find good people who are well qualified? I am not trying to slam the organization as it is obvious they do a lot of good, but with so many posts suggesting people join and serve on the board makes me feel like walking into a church for the first time and being asked to preach the sermon or teach a class. I think that recruiting so forcefully can turn peopla away before they get their feet wet. PM reply from ADA members welcome on this topic or we can chat on the phone about it. thanks

24B 24A 21 22 6A are some of my favorites but i might toss in one of those border hot spots with all the chatter about them. Waiting to see the hard copies of the regs to decide for sure. \

Lark Take a breath !!! Looks like you held in your thoughts until they exploded on the screen. LOL Your typing all ran together and I cannot read that fast. Another fine perspective to add to the fray. Some of the old timers reall did and a few probably still do know a lot. Experience taught them and unfortunately we "younguns" don't learn to listen and watch and ask about those things untill it is too late. -
Congratulations! Nice Bull! Is there a good story to go with the pictures?

"permanent" Tree stands legal advise
az4life replied to BASS's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I would probably remove it so no other hunter gets the same idea. Better yet, move it a low quality spot and the other hunters who might find it will think they found someone's great spot. Wait a minute... maybe that is what someone did for the spot you found? -
I have read about "funnels" for years in hunting magazines and generally they describe natural or man made barriors or geologic structures, thick brush, fencelines or even scrapes etc, that cause deer to take a particular route through an area. In most of these articles, they talk mainly about flatter land, with slight draws or washes but the theme is all the same with flat land or mountains. The deer do have patterns and generally follow them pretty consistently. Lots of articles talk about using Topo maps and arial pictures to locate natural funnels before foot scouting. I apply some of the map funnel theory too. Before I go into an area I always have a topo map and photos from terraserver if possible. You may not see the deer on a trail using the maps, but it gives you a start of a plan when you get to the area. Long story, but funnels are real, but they are different in every area so looking for a varity of the possible funnel sides is the key.

Great posts from several mambers. I agree with the post from Lee, so please post information on ADA needs and activities. I have a lot on my plate like most of us, but these posts have encouraged me to participate as more than an echo in the crowd. I want to enjoy AZ wildlife and leave something better for the next generations too.

Congratulations! You should know what the next question is going to be... It is almost always the first question... ANY PICTURES?

Just to let everyone know what is seen when a person on your "Ignore" list posts something, it looks like this... You have chosen to ignore CHD. View this post ? Un-ignore CHD Pretty cool feature this "Ignore member" option . I see that note 2 times tonight so he must be upset. Being a creature of habit, he is probably critical of those who try to hold him accountable, and to a level of civility, and ranting about how he is right and his opinions are more valuable than other members because of his monetary donations and his worldly experience and that his posts are more valuable because they have so many hits (views). He may also be complaining that he is being picked on unfairly. IF I am correct, and he is following his usual tactics, he will likely calm down and fly straight in a few weeks. That said, I have patterned him like a big buck and the ignore button is the perfect option as I already know what he has to say. I almost want to click the "view this post" option but will resist the temptations. Good night all!

Lee Thanks for the tip. I am not sure I looked since Amanda switched servers though. I do recall that series of posts from last year now that you mention it. I seem to recall a brief absence then a return with civil posts. I don't generally support use of "time outs" for misbehaving children as there is not a tangible loss for them. In the case of misbehaving forum members, maybe a "time out" will work. Anyway, with your help, I can now say " BEEN THERE, DONE THAT " if you know what I mean. And In this case I hope others do the same. Sorry this thread was temporarily diverted. We now return you to the 2005 Regulations thread....

Josh Your handling of these attacks is just another indication of how Truly fine this forum is! Members make the forum special. The vast majority of information and discussions shared are top notch with quality comments and insightful perspectives and even some good natured humor on topics important to sportsmen and sportswomen. It is rare when personal attacks happen here and even more rare when they are responded to which in the "anonymous internet" is the norm. Praises now aired, use of any forum requires restraint to keep from "feeding Trolls". I would like to suggest, that another more automatic way is to add an "ignore" option which I have seen on some other boards. I am not sure if it is possible to add this feature on the server, but I am sure it would help keep the peace even more. This "ignore" option would keep you from seeing posts from members who consistently flame others or generally post items of little interest to you. As more and more people "ignore" a member, there is less feedback "food" and as a direct result, the "trolls" move on to another feeding ground. Food for thought.

nice find Amanda! Details? Owl survey, Elk sheds, Whitetail sheds.... Below the rim?

Bill You have some interesting points... I never thougt about the indians and pictographs. However Antlers and bones found in the wild (not on a cabin wall) would likely not last even decades let alone a century. I think elk have done so well in AZ since their "re-introduction" it is likely they would have done well previous so they were probably here before they were "gone". It could be that there were just not that many pioneers were here to see them. Thanks for your perspective. But what about the mogollon monster? -
younghunter Nice finds! thanks for the pictures
