Hey everyone! I got an email back from Ernesto, and he says to say Hi to everyone on the forum. He said he will stop back when he has some free time but he is going to be pretty busy for the next month or so. A little time off can do everyone some good from time to time don'tcha know.... I think he would be happy to see all of the encouragement he is getting from everyone. Anyway, thats the news! Later

Hunting Vanity Plates
az4life replied to grizzly's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
L O L Lark... Do you need some help firrerin one out. Lots of us probably know you well enough to help ya some. -
I think the tag had to be given to a relative child in the past, but now they allow us to pass one on to any qualifying charitable organization. I think the Make-a-wish group is pretty good, and the "hunt of a lifetime" group is an offshoot of them, after the tree huggers complained about letting the teenager go to AK on a Polar Bear Hunt. Get that paperwork going Lark, and you might be a qualifying organization.

Read about this in the AZ Repugnant today. It is now legal to donate your tag to certain charitable organizations. 3 Younsters are already preparing to hunt in AZ this year on donated tags. Good thing I believe! Here is the link to the story. New AZ Laws

why are digitals so expensive?
az4life replied to coues7's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
coues7, I don't want to infringe on your business, but Wally world has one now for 98 bucks. It is digital with expandable memory up to 256mb. variable on pic quality and video capable. No camo but hey some tape can fix that up! I did note the battery life was something like 2 weeks on a 6v battery so that is not all that hot! Sure I am comparing a hummer to a yugo, but if you are on a tight budget, only 2 -3 rolls of film from a 35mm and you'd have this one paid for. FYI -
Ernesto, Hey, I agree with everyone else. If your comments about Jesus offend someone, that problem is with them, not you. As a Christian, it is not our "jpb" to force them into your belief, but it is our "job" to live and share Him by example. Your example here has always been one that others can see Jesus in you. Stay on here, and stay true. You never know who might benefit from your comments!

AWESOME DUDE! Sure would like to find that guy in season with a tag!

No personal experience, but I read an article about them and sounded pretty good.

Biggest 5x5 Elk ever!

257stw here is the link to that commercial. http://www.snickers.com/advertising.asp -
She is a whack job. The minute she feels threatened, she goes to those that she is holding hostage to protect her. Is there ANYONE who is siding with her? Her neighbors, Friends, Family? I doubt it. I would not wish bad luck on anyone, but in her case I will think about making an exception.

Finally reached me in Peoria a few minutes ago. Blew in dust and then BIG OL drops in buckets! We sure need it. Nice to get the rain after putting up with the humid days!

Echo the positive comments above, Amanda!

Wonder if he got that big cause of eating all the Snickers candy bars the hunters were throwing at the deer in that commercial? What a monster! -
Hunters with Snickers
az4life replied to KGAINES's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I look at the commercial, and laugh! It is only a ploy to sell candy bars. Pretty funny but if you look superficially, as a tree hugger would, I see the point of making hunters look like idiots. I will keep carrying my paydays to show my support (lack of) for snickers! -
Broke your bottle... now that is funny! I hunted in 6a back in 2001. My buddy got a 334 6x6 that year. It bout liked to kill me, and I wanted to kill him. Gave him a piece of my mind since he popped the bull right at dusk. He was so close to dark, I was back at the truck. Heard a shot and went to see what was up. Found him dazed from Scope Eye! Said he saw a big one and had his eye to clsoe to the scope to get a good look. We hunted for that bull for 30 minutes all over that hill. Then we foudn him uphill, across a fence and behind a tree only 150 yds fromwhere he thought he shot at him. Took us until after midnight to get that bugger back into camp. Nice bull though! Saw others but they were on the move and too far from us to get shots. I never saw anything I could shoot more than a raghorn spike, which I passed on! Anyway, if you need some ideas in 6a besides apache maid mtn and the lake area where everyone goes, PM me and I will point you a spot or 2 to try. We scouted that place HARD before the hunt. Still trying to get a tag there again!

That is impressive! So that is honey in the tank off to the left? I guess that is why the bear came in too! I always thought a salt lick would be better than honey but now I know! Great Photos! Super thanks for posing. hope you drew a tag in that unit!

I know what you mean about the off topic items. I have even posted things that were off topic, but humorous or informative. Things like that seem to pop up in any foruMaybe an "OFF TOPIC" category? and a GENERAL HUNTING (NOT COUES) would help position them at least so they don't show up where you would not expect them? Anyway, Amanda does a great job, not being overprotective and deleting posts for minor infractions.

Very interesting topic. I am sure most of us fall closer to the "middle ground", on technology and hunting, not the extremes like: A Pioneer with muzzleloader, and horses with pack mules and The USO clients who have the game spotted and hearded to them with planes and choppers and use radios to let you know they are on the way. I accept technology but don't figure on ever hunting from my lazy boy in front of the PC. I do scout using PC generated maps and trailcams, and use radios for "checking in" while hunting. Rarely do we do more than check in every hour or so for safety. Sure we have the "I saw 3" and "I saw none" conversations but keeping the spirit of the hunt is important too. I would never take a buffalo since that is not really a hunt. They put you in a fenced pasture and point you at the "Tame" one you are supposed to shoot. Yeah, that is Some sport. Anyway, stalking and talking is not very effective so radios won't help if you are trying to get inside 400 yards.! As I recall, There was a thread a while back about who you would like to go hunt with, and who you wouldn't. It was stated by quite a few that differences in style and methods of hunting were okay, but ethical differences were not . We all have ethics, and ethics are not easily changed for appearances. GREAT TOPIC

Google earth is really cool. Options for view angle, Zoom, showing roads, and the flyover is awesome. Give it a try! Just make sure you have lots of time to play with it cause you will lose a half of a day when you get hooked!

Got mine also. Deer only. was hoping thye would have made a mistake and send me a bull elk tag, but noooo. Wonder how often that happens?
-
Good Idea. Waiting to the last minute could leave you in a world of hurt!

I Did read that he has been caught illegally taking Mtn lion, Bear, Javelina (and who knows what else). His attitude and actions reflect badly on every respectable hunter. I think this is a case where the guy thinks he can do whatever he wants. He needs to be taught a lesson. In sort of a twist, this guy has committed a crime and his actions effectively "PIN" the blame on "every Hunter". As far as the Draw system, There are Plenty of NON Tag game animals in AZ. If he just wanted to hunt, he could do that without going after tag animals. Sure the tag system is not perfect. The random chance aspect means you won't be drawn EVERY year. However, Disregard of the system for your own personal gains is no better than terrorism. I am sure people out there do just what he did and get away with it. That does not mean it is right. Your own Character is evident in how you act, when nobody is around to see what you do. Happy to say, I don't fit this moron's mold.
