I agree with Lark on this point. USO still sucks, and I really hoep they have suffered or will suffere due to thier greed. On the other hand, the new law and court ruling has made us go through some pain to a couple of years. Sort of a "Gut ChecK" so we should thank USO for being so Greedy and waking us p. What doesn't kill you will make you stronger. That still doesn't mean you have to embrace it!

Do you have some money burning a hole?

Long way across town but I may jsut check into what I want for this year. Never too early to save money! -
Does anyone think Amanda will go for this?

The very bottom picture would make a killer drawing. Crop just the deer and close cover. I would draw it but my Stick figures would look a lot like pictoglypsh the natives did on the rocks. Keep the business close to home is my vote too. We have the talent in our group I am quite sure! -
This is a direct result of the US district court ruling in Wyoming last year. Also the Harry Reid Senate bill coi-sponsored by John McLame from AZ. I heard about the re-instituting the cap a while ago and they said it would almost certainly be in place by next years draw. The AGFD wanted to keep the cap all along but USO had some better shister lawyers! Lawyers... I think thye are a lot like Anti virus software companies. In one room they are making the viruses, and in another, they are making the anti-virus. They Got us coming and going!

I was just going to ask, how many people mount your own scopes? Maybe there is an advantage to having a gunsmith do it, but I just never figured it was that difficult. Take your time, tighten things evenly, and make sure it is TIGHT. Can't see a reason a good hunter would have a problem with this but maybe you all know things I do not about scopes?

So, you think you're tough???
az4life replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Wow, that is a tough old guy. My hat is off to him! His story and the others mentioned are real stories of survival that should all be made into movies. They would beat the heck out of the junk hollywood does now. -
Keith Thanks for keeping the "spirit" for Ernesto!

Hope you both had a great day!

Let us know what the secret was.... I sort of feel sorry for you! (sure I do) Hope your legs, and vacation time holds out. Unbelievable concidence to get all those tags. That is a lot of hunting and we just hope you won't go through withdrawals when you have a year with 0 draws. Maybe you will donate a tag or 2 to the "hunt of a lifetime" group if you cannot make them all.

I was waiting on pins and needles wondering what Lark would post. He di not disappoint us! I thought you quit that male model job though.

Amanda, you might be right, we just might have the makings of a Pinned thread here! I am one of the folks that helps you find what you need in stores when you go shopping... Nope. not a walmart greeter... yet, 8-5, I design store layouts, in terms of where the fixtures go, and how you arrange the goodies on them. Often consult with Mfrs on Package and product design too. Merchandising! Have also done some website work on the side. As far as the carpenter... well, I jump right into woodworking projects. Build my own things when I cannot find just what I want. I get just what I really need that way. It is Interesting to see what everyone does. After we all post, we will all have friends in whatever business we need.

Some strange things do happen down there. I agree, about packing a firearm. I would do it anytime I was in that area. You cannot take anything for granted in that situation. Even the BP could be a problem. Did you read about the BP agent that forged hsi documents and had been an agent since 2001. He is an illegal from Mexico and has been helping Coyotes and Drug traffickers while being on his BP job. Sure it is probably the exception, but who knows what other things are going on!

The new Black River
az4life replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I hope they dropped some seed on that area. Oh My gosh... I cannot believe how black that water is. I have a 24b tag and though I don't plan to be in the burn area, I am wondering how it might affect the hunt pressure in the resot of the unit. Maybe the edges of the burn would be good for hunting as there will be new growth? Is there an arial photo or map showing the exact fireline from the Peachville fire? I have surfed around a lot but cannot find one. Seems like they used to post those but I will be darned if I can find them. I plan to go do some scouting soon but on th ground, 10,000 acres is tough to document. -
I drew that tag too! I have a couple places I frequent, but not too sure this year. the big burn near superior was over 10,000 acres. That much area burnt may push a lot of hunters into the areas I usually frequent since they won't want to go to the burn area. I may take a few scout trips to look at some spots I know about coming in from Roosevelt, and Apache lake side of the unit. Have not been in there in 4-5 years so It could be time to make a return trip. Probably a few weeks till I go out and plant a camera or 3. hopefully get some driving time to see what is burnt and not. Good Luck to you! Seems like there was a 24b hread a couple weeks back, maybe use the search function entering 24b.

new moultrie digital trail camera
az4life replied to azhuntnut's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I have 2 35mm homebrews that I was putting off finishing. They may never get done now! Awesome pictures. 1.3meg is not for 8x10 quality, but less than that size, they should be great! -
My mistake! I was thinking and typing with 2 sides of my brain? thanks for the correction. (still good deer around Saguaro)
-
Used to be good up around saguaro lake. Remember many times driving along that road near the lake dam and having to brake for nice deer in the road. Aint been over there lately but like others said, 42m is a sleeper!

new moultrie digital trail camera
az4life replied to azhuntnut's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I bet those are going to be fast sellers! Great deal for a pretty fair camera. I wonder about securing it when it is set up though. Are thee reasonably good points on the case to secure it? Is the case pretty strong one? What resolution did you shoot those sample pictures on? -

Looks like you have a couple of winners! -
Hey Becker, Maybe she was lonely. What sort of after shave were you wearing? Great story and I think we all wish we had seen it. I saw a doe chasing a coyote once. I was up on the rim in 4b and sitting along a canyon. On the ther side way up top I saw movement, and this Deer was chasing a big coyote down the side of the canyon. Hadn't seen anything all day so I decided to pop the yote. After he went down, the Doe stopped, and looked around. Went over and nosed him, then kicked him, and finally trotted off the way she came. Strange things them deer will do. Thanks for sharing your harrowing tale.
