Another elk/deer slayer taken out
az4life replied to GRONG's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
sdrhunterdo My comment about AGFD game management "expertise" was not intended as complimentary. Seriously, Buying lion tags over the counter does not mean lion hunting is not managed. They manage the lion populations by requiring hunters to report all lions killed and when the harvest goal is reached, (ha ha) in a particular unit, they close that unit for further lion hunting for the duration of the season. Lion hunting is something that probably has a .01% (1 in 10,000) success rate to those who buy tags and those who actually go hunting lions are probably less than 1% success too (1 in 100). Every game animal needs a check to stay in relative balance as others have stated. Josh's lion hunting success shows he and his dad are 2 in a million. They show real expertise! Josh, Keep those lion stories and pictures coming. Growl... Snarl, Hiss, Growl.... -

I wouldn't worry bout the lion poulations too much since AZGFD manages them with the same expertise they do the Elk and Deer heards. -
I got your email too. I have already passed the info on to others who are not part of cwt.com too. A few words about Passwords.... I would suggest that any passwords any of us use should have at least 1 capital letter, at least 1 lower case, at least 1 number and be 8 characters long, total in length. Not using proper names or derivatives of your own name or family / pet names will add extra layers to your password uniqueness and make it more hacker resistantant. Face it, hackers suck, and if they want in your system, they can be persistent enough to break in most anywhere.

Casey Don't be defensive about your cat experience man! That is one heck of a story and I would be proud if it was mine. Rock on dude! I won't forget your story! As far as identifying the reproductives, I've had some house cats that the VET misidentified.

Congratulations to Jerry and you too Josh! That does look to be a big female cat. With all that kitty killin, you are certainly helping Elk and Deer populations, I think you should list yourself as a wildlife conservation expert. Thanks for the pictures. -

Yea, those sort of hoaxes go around a lot. Often the same as a previous one with a little twist. I use Snopes.com to attempt to bust them. Thanks for the heads up on your source - hoaxbusters - Amanda! -

What? When did that happen? Hackers Suck Hope we can recover anything that was lost. Maybe there is a search engine that has a cache copy. Whoever it was probably was trying to spam us on the site or maybe with our onfile email addresses. Maybe it was the NRA after we found out about the coue they backed for Jennifer Martin. Sounds like a Conspiracy......

Has anyone seen pics the Mattausch Buck?
az4life replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
What a buck! I love to hear stories about hunters that do their "due dilligence" and reap the rewards for their efforts. This is one of those cases that the efforts paid off. Congratulations! -
Jennifer Martin Commission Nomination
az4life replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Could it be that the NRA "political pressure" had something to do with this? It seems hard to believe the NRA would have anything to gain. I personally cannot believe someone so unqualified has been appointed. Even if she has "publicly acknowledged a willingness to expand hunting and shooting" , she does not meet what I would say is the minimum to be considered for this position. How can anyone trust our politicians when the pull an obvious political coue like this. Maybe it is not all doom and gloom, but we should try to improve things, not just do something that won't do too much damage. Wrap a single thread around your body and it is not too confining, and easy to breakaway. Wrap a string few more times around and it becomes more restrictive and harder to break free. I do not think this is the first string the AZ Sportsmen have been wrapped with and it appears it will not be the last. Thank you Governor Janet, and maybe the NRA? -
Jennifer Martin Commission Nomination
az4life replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Objection noted and emails fired off. Thanks for the tip Amanda Text below if anyone wants to use this to start. ---------------------------------------------- Dear Senator: I would like to express my disapproval and ultimate concern for the nomination on the Arizona Game and Fish Commission board. I do not know Ms Martin personally but reviewing her resume leads me to believe that there are many more qualified people to appoint to this critical position. Ms Martin?s appointment recommendation as well as the motives of those involved with the process should be seriously questioned. Ms Martin may be a good researcher and consultant but on my estimation, she is not qualified for this appointment. Based on her own resume, Ms Martin is severely lacking in the experience and knowledge required to adequately manage the affairs of the sportsmen and women of the state of AZ. As a Hunter and Angler, I am appalled and outraged that the governor would attempt to place a non sportsperson in this critical position. The commission members are supposed to be the governing body that manages the state wildlife resources and a key part of that management process is knowledge of hunting and fishing. Without that knowledge, any commissioner is severely hampered at making well educated decisions. Ms Martin has not demonstrated a history of leading commissions, inquiry or advisory groups along a similar field. Ms Martin has not served on any commissions or advisory boards and her resume has demonstrated very little in leadership experience or characteristics. The fact that she participated in several studies for the AGFD is a plus, but cannot on face value offer an explanation for the recommendation of this otherwise inexperienced nominee. It should also be noted that many of the state sportsmen?s groups are key parts of the AGFD department resource management programs. Without the key qualifications important to state sportsmen, Ms Martin will be a detrimental to conservation cooperation from groups that currently support the commission. I urge the members of the State Natural Resources and Rural Affairs commission to vote down this candidate and seek one who is better qualified for the position. If one man?s opinion is not enough, my research also shows nearly every major sportsman?s group (listed below) opposed to this nomination. AZ Antelope Foundation AZ Deer Association AZ Desert Bighorn Sheep Society AZ Elk Society AZ Predator Callers AZ Trappers Association Copperstate Retrievers Mohave Sportsman Club Phoenix Varmint Callers Southwest Walleye Anglers Yuma Valley Rod and Gun Club Thank you for your for your responsible vote against appointing Ms Martin to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. -
Thomc hit the nail on the head! "The dept has somehow equated LESS sucess with more opportunity." and in the end, they equate this to more $.

WOW Casey!! That is super impressive. Getting that close to a stealthy predator like that is a feat that few hunters could do. Super for taking out a couple lions and the Javelina is pure gravy. Thanks for sharing the pics and story. PS I bet your gandpa loved watching and helping you from his place!

Dear Stakeholder, Thank you for your comments regarding the Game and Fish Commission?s proposed fee changes. At its February meeting, the Commission took the opportunity to review the comments that were received before the meeting, and voted to approve the fees as they were proposed. The final proposal has been sent to the Governor?s Regulatory Review Council (GRRC) so that it can discuss the new fees at their next open meeting in April. GRRC will consider the comments received during this last comment period before making a final decision whether to approve the new fees. All fee changes must be approved by GRRC before they become law. More information will be posted to the Department?s website as it becomes available. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you again for your comments and for your participation in the Department?s rulemaking process. Carlos Ramirez, Rulewriter 2221 W. Greenway Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85023 (602) 789-3288 ext. 206
