Well I see some of you have experienced a Michigan hunt. It just surprised me that most of the hunters admitted they did not clearly Identify the target and after they saw a their buck, it was a few seconds till they shot it. Lots were taken with bows, and shotguns and muzzleloaders. By the way, I said it was on PBS, and I think I made a mistake on that. It was on Detroit public television? Maybe it was a public access station? I started to understand why a relative who hunted AZ with me years ago complained it was so hard out here in the west. Glad to be home again!

Watching a show on PBS in Detroit tonight and saw some really nice bucks that were taken in 2005. several over 190" and the hunters had a chance to "tell the tale" at the awards ceremony. I was rather surprised that many of them took risky shots and did not have any idea how big the animal they shot at was. of them said things like " I saw him following a doe and he was moving pretty fast so I had to pull up and shoot real fast. I did not know it had 19 points, (eastern) till I found it dead." Not one of them said they knew how many points or guessed the size before shooting when most of them were shot under 50 yards, it seems a bit scarey. Wonder if that is why the have to wear orange? And more hunting accidents. Glad the CWT group is more into target identification than MI hunters.

I think I see it now. I will have to look it over again when I am back at my regular computer. Thanks for posting the challenge. Hmmm sounds like geese honking outside my window....

Casey In 2001, I was told by a GF officer that yes it would be self defense if the "story" added up with the evidence. In that case, I was stalked and almost munched by a lion in 6a while scouting for elk. I guarantee it was self defense for me, as I had no gun, and turned him away from me at 10 ft with a tree root. Them darn cats sure can be noisey, hissing growling and snarling... That is one experience I won't EVER forget. Congrats on your good day of varmint hunting kaffer62!

Josh, you definitely are blessed! The family that hunts sheds together, stays together...? Nice antler too. I tell you though, the most common browns I find in draws and washes are brown trout.

Minutemen to Patrol AZ border in April
az4life replied to az4life's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I have hired probably 100 people over in my jobs, and I was always required to fill out an I-9 form that requires proof of citizenship. I also tried to have them picked up when they ran into my insured vehicle while driving their unisured car w/o a valid drivers license. I also had an aquaintance who died in a traffic accident caused by a drunk driving illegal alien with no drivers license, no insurance but they owned their car, and had money in a US bank. Its a sore spot for our country and especially those who live in border states. Fact is, legal immigrants generally agree, Illegal means illegal. -
Maybe you need a pack mule... I volunteer

Minutemen to Patrol AZ border in April
az4life replied to az4life's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Well said, I agree, and whats more, with amnesty or "amnesty lite" programs being talked about in the news, the problem is even bigger. Open the floodgates cause that is the same effect. Too many prospective immigransts figure they will get the Ronald Reagan Deal if they are here in time for it. That amnesty deal is the worst decision that great president ever did in office! We must go after all employers who hire them and deport every illegal alien, immigrant or whatever is the UN PC name this week. canadian, south african, cuban, irish, russian, turkish, italian, french, or mexican. Makes no difference. Illegal, is Illegal. missed you at lunch this week. -

AG You hit that one dead center. Gotta love it! I bet a few more actual father son hunting mishaps that would be great on that card could be recalled if we open up the podium! -

Muskrat It looks like you landed on your feet as fast as you knew you had to. Best wishes on the new job! I am sure it will be different for you but that is not neccessarily a bad thing. One thing for sure, is change is coming for all of us in one way or another. I hope to handle whatever is thrown at me as well as you have. Deerslam I hope your new "thing" works out for you as well as your current gig has. 22 yrs is a long time, I have a few more yrs than that where I am now so I can imagine what you might be going through. I would guess you are good at your job if you have been doing it so long. Good help is hard to find so I am sure you will land on your feet when jou make the big jump. With all the trials and uncertainties going on, please allow me to ask... May God Bless everyone with change and adversity going on in their lives right now. Make us stronger in the face of uncertainty and remind each of us not to worry about the things we cannot change because You do have the master plan. Amen

It's about time there was some prosecution going on. All the law enforcement typically do is look the other way unless there is a crime being committed. Well the crime of illegal entry into the US has already been committed but no one seems to care. -
I agree with the "Bring it on" sentiment. A good soaking rain is needed for as long as nature can deal it out.
