    wish me luck!

Casey I think Wetmule had a really good take on the situation. Heed his advice and you won't ever get yelled at for misrepresenting your experience in a particular unit. Good Luck on your new career!
  2. Thanks for the info Bill. I have not had time to research the whole state, but it is good to know I can go west, and possibly find more access.

    My Alaska trip

Amanda Super pics, some of them are so awesome they look like they are not real! A lot of people who have been there say the pics are awesome but are nothing like the in person experience. I really want to get there some day to see it for myself. Marlon

    hunting solo

Great topic and comments. I would like to emphasize that the landmarks you pick are very important. You must realize that the tree, or bush will often look a lot different from up close, uphill, downhill etc, thanwhat it did when you shot from 300 yards away. Pick several landmarks and use ones that are more solid, Rocks, Open areas, Yuccas, Dead deer, yup. sometimes even the obvious landmarks are hard to fine. Solo hunting is rewarding at times but you must realize you are on your own and be careful every step of the way. Coues hunting is often in extremely rugged country and it is easy to see a rockslide, fall or loose foothold causing an injury that could immobilize you. Think ahead before you put yourself in a predcament you cannot get out of on your own. Be safe solo hunters

    Coues Country

Hey shortpants, Look at it this way, 70Lbs carried in means 150 or so carried out if you get a biggun! Hope yor pack can handle it all! Good Luck
  9. One thing to consider, for anyone thinking of heading to Wyoming for antelope hunts, is the latest trend is the landowners are charging tresspass fees for antelope moreso than other game. Private land is everywhere and public lands are hard to find with antelope. Many areas that are public are designated as "walk in" only, with no vehicle access. Best if you pland to come here and hunt antelope to verify access before making definite plans. food for thought....

Help a Coues Newbie in 36B

When you pick a spot to glass from, just look for the worst spot you could imagine pulling a buck out of, and that is where you will often find him. They love the extreme rugged terrain.

    My Nov. buck

Roadhuntin is the only way to get that dink.
  13. AG Great story and nice goats! Aint it funny how Short hunts with long term preparations make us wish it was not so easy, and long difficult hunts make us wish for hunts like yours? Welcome to Wyoming. Oh, by the way, for anyone else wanting to hunt antelope in Wyoming, it is sort of like the Coues in AZ unit 23.... there are none left! Sorry, AG got the last ones

    Stickers!

AZ Guide is right... Blizzards are on the shopping list every time I get to Cheyenne, but this was the start of the 1st snow last week. This should be a photobucket picture of my Cold Red Dakota and the construction progress is my homesite in the background. Hope it works! http://s128.photobucket.com/albums/p169/az...mgAnch=imgAnch1 Well looks like I need a refresher on pic posting. this is the link anyway. Oh yeah I'm Lovin it!. Will like it even more once I have a house built. Hope to be dryed in before Turkey day and move in ready by Jan 1 2007. Lots of work for me to do but since I am out of work being Designer, GC, Ditche digger, Concrete worker, Purchasing agent, Delivery man, Carpenter, Plumber Electrician apprentice, Landscaper, Drywaller, and overall Head Flunky in charge is enough for me to do until I find work. Later

    Voting for a new Govenor

Tyson Knowledge is something you know to be true and therefore BELIEVE. Even Good Science or scientific surveys are influenced by the beliefs of the scientist. Interpretation of the data is the task of the scientist so it is therefore in-exact by nature. Personal beliefs influence everything we do. It's part of being human. Lets say I take a temperature survey and chart low temps reached for 1 year in Phoenix. I decide that to graph and group the findings, I will categorize the readings in 5 categories. Extreme Cold - Cold - Moderate - Warm - Hot The point at which I decide the temperature is Hot will be 100 degrees or above. Extreme cold is Below Zero. By my choosing the ranges corresponding to names, I have influenced the findings with my beliefs. Get 10 scientists in a room together and pose the same scenario, I bet none of them would agree on what temps go with which name. Take the survey in Alaska, and the scale would also change due to physical influences and "feelings" of the scientists. Now that is just one example of why few things are an "Exact Science" for you. This is a hunting forum so I too will get back to it. I was forced to send time on the PC since it was extremely cold (20-38) in Wyoming today and I was trying to heat things up a bit.

    Birthday Girl

Amanda Happy Belated... Sorry I am late with the birthday wishes, but better late than never? I missed my wife's 2 weeks ago too so you are in good company. I tried to tell her the pile of dirt for our house slab was her gift but that went over like million pounds of dirt!(and it was) Thanks for being you and taking care of the group at CWT. Marlon

    Food for thought

The Mountain House Dehydrated food packs are very tasty and easy to fix. Pour in boiling water into the package, wait a few minutes, and eat. All you get dirty is the fork. They cost $5 or 6$, cheaper than fast food, and taste better. Sometimes I'll eat them in my camper, when I'm too tired to do anything else. You can get them at Sportsman's Warehouse or cabelas, or anywhere the web. CAUTION: eating real backpacking food could turn you into a tree hugger! Mark No tree huggin allowed! Take high energy stuff. Granola, Trailmix, Jerky and I always like the spagetti o's or raviolli for dinners.

    Slopes?

Good info from everyone. I think we all have some favorite glassing spots and if you think about it, they most often will fit into the criteria mentioned. I often find the windy conditions when hunting and cannot stress enough (like Amanda pointed out) that when it is windy, the deer are nervous and will try to get out of the wind so they can hear better. My advice is look where the deer are. Shady when hot, or calm when windy areas. Good Luck all
