Is this Spuds McKenzie?
az4life replied to SunDevil's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
If it was spuds mackenzie... maybe recycling it makes it taste like corona! -
Pretty cool looking cat.

LOL It gets cold and windy here so that's why The garage is big enough to take care of the "doghouse" need.

Josh You sure do have some killer spots to shed hunt! Looks like killer hike out with those big ones. Hey, by the way I saw a show on discovery last night about bloodhounds. They tried to lose one with all the tricks in the book. Y'know.. crossing a creek, zig zagging, back tracking, coffee and cologne cover scent, changing clothes and bathing, and even the cool hand luke, black pepper. Thought of you and your dogs out after a mtn lion. Almost felt sorry for the lion when the hounds get a scent trail. ALMOST....

Thanks for the nice comments. Replies.... I hope to start posting some great scenery and wildlife pics soon. I am now looking for "real" work so I can pay the bills and there are a lot of neat pics to take on the way to Cheyenne or Scottsbluff, NE. The "hardwood floors" are actually Ceramic Tile. We like the look of wood but did not want the maintenance of real wood or the sound of pergo. I layed all the tile myself too! We used a similar Bamboo plank looking tile in the laundry and half bath. The bear does take some getting used to. My wife is a Bear collector, and Bear Artist. She made most of the Big ones in the pictures. Antlers will probably be in the spare bedroom. I still need to unpack them.

Thanks Amanda. With such a diverse group of members it will be near impossible to cover all possible topics, but the new ones will fill some gaps.

Maybe she was trying to rescue her friends or family that were under your head in your pillow

Interesting stuff Josh. Thanks for the Edu-macation.

WOW That is awesome that you were there and able to take pics of it.

I think they are advocating more for land conservation than animal conservation. Sort of like road hunting for horns. I guess t makes you easier to find for them. Wonder how long before they advocate and suggest you hunt for animals only from designated forest roads.

They should not be hurt with 40% less applications since the draw rate was so low anyway. When they moved up the dates, the department probably figured that they would have a substantial loss of apps anyway. They don't do anything without looking at the financial impact angles over and over. It just means the lucky ones that did apply in time will have a much better draw chance.
-
Well moving the Application date up and raising the tag fees 70% certainly had a double whammey effect. 40% lower applications? I believe it. It will certainly be interesting to see if other neighboring states pick up more Antelope and Elk Apps from those who would have normally applied in AZ, but did not like the hefty tag increase or just missed the earlier deadline. Good luck to all those of you that met the deadline

Coues Buck Contest WINNERS
az4life replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Those are some pretty darn nice deer! Congratulations to all the winners. I think it is especially appropriate that Scott got one of the best picture awards as he really shares some good ones with us here. -
Now, how can anyone really want That???? I would rather lay down in a bed full of rattle snakes!!! Just thinking of her as President makes me want to Barf! I might now have to throw myself in front of the next large truck that passes by my house! Better yet, toss her in front of a truck!

Let us know about the backstraps. One other suggestion would be to soak the meat in apple cider and onions as a marinade before you cook it. Crock pots are great for this but marinade overnight if you plan to grill and it will do pretty well also.

What is the greatest danger to Coue's hunting in your state?
az4life replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I think the habitat loss is the biggest single factor. It is different from area to area though. -

Said goodbye to a dear old friend yesterday.....
az4life replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Tough post to read Amanda. I saw the title and almost did not open it cause of the sad feelings it stirs up from our most recent loss from last year. I am sure you are hurting about this bt I hope that our "sharing" will help us all. We only had our little "Sport" since October 2001 (My wife brought him home the day I was almost killed by the mountain lion) but he was the best companion of many that we have had. Sport was super smart and just a wonderful lap dog that Loved everyone as well as dogs and cats. He was our first JRT (Jack Russell Terrier) probably will not be our last. We have not made the decision to adopt another since the sad fact is it does take time to heal deep wounds. With Such a companion, it is hard to accept a loss at a young age.... but I am sure it is probably even more so, with a lifelong companion such as your Maura. Just yesterday I read a farewell story on a JRT website. Maybe it will help you in these tough days. Darnit... Tearing up again... Gotta go Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... -

Media whores is right. They have a political response to the presidents state of the union speech on their website. It spouts off their agenda as the woman who delivers it strips down to nothing. They say that it is harmless and if it helps get their ideas out to the public, it is fair game. Whatever works. Sure hope they do not start a trend that other politicians follow with the same stunts. Imagine Gov Janet Nappy NapoloReno doing that EEEEEEEWWWWWWWW -

The goal is to Raise more money, but no department really cares about the law enforcement. Looks like 90% of the time the only ticketing will be if they find you did not pay to play. $50. IS just the start.... Initial Sales tax Registration Fee Mandatory riders training Fee Park access Fee Copper sticker Fee State land Use Fee Non Resident riders land use Fee Land restoration fee (after the other fees don't prevent the damage) I probably missed a few... This looks like just another fee on the list. -

I remembered why i tag out every year!
az4life replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I second the wild meat being better for you. Tastes great, less fat, less hormones and less unnatural drugs. This year most of the meat I have eaten at relatives and at home consist of Buffalo, Antlope, Elk and Deer. EAT your Heart out PETA. ITS ALL GOOD BABY!
