If you Could Have Just One...

Tikka T3 in 30-06, 270, 7mag or 300mag. -
Any idea on what bullet you want to use? I shoot 150gr Barnes TTSX over 68gr of Retumbo in my Tikka. Those TTSX's will put the hurt on an animal.

I shoot 140 Amax's with 41.5gr of H4350 going 2750fps in a 24" 8 twist barrel.......not super fast but dang accurate. -
What made you settle on that particular load? Did it group good during load development but change when you tried sighting it in? Who did the brake and what type of crown? Did you clean it really good after the brake was installed? Is the brake tight and how many rounds through it?........Dirty crown? How confident are you on the sled? Have you had someone else shoot it to see what happens?

Just left Sportsmans Mesa and they had a bunch of H4350, Retumbo, RL 15 and 17.

Which caliber of tikka t3 lite for me?
Kingzero replied to CSNeoM4A1's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I shoot a Superlite in 7 mag and recoil isn't bad at all. I put on a Limbsaver and enjoy shooting it. After 20+ rounds during load development my shoulder was a little sore but I don't plan on shooting at an animal that many times. Plus.....recoil has a tendancy to disappear when there is an animal in the crosshairs. -
I have a 24" x 42" x 5/16" thick piece of AR 600 steel. Harder than AR500 and will last forever. It took my 7mag at 100 yards no problem. Use it as a large target or cut it into smaller ones with a plasma or torch. Sold pending funds. Pm, call or txt.....Chris 602-354-6218 Located in Apache Junction.

I want the bullets if you are willing to separate.

Also curious on velocity with a 17" barrel.

I'm changing things up in my garage and I don't need this bench any more. I made it out of 1"x2" rectangle tubing and the dimensions are 9'L x 28"D x 42.5"T. Would like 100 bucks OBO.......Chris 602-354-6218 Located in Apache Junction

You are going to spend a lot of money to get another barrel, have it chambered/ installed and fluted. If it still shoots good just send it out to get fluted. This guy is a sponsor on Snipers Hide and is a stad up guy with quick turnaround. http://proprecisionrifles.com/pricelist.html If you are set on a new barrel.....Brux, Rock, Krieger and Bartlein are 4 of the top barrel makers. Filp a coin and as long as a good smith installs it you will be happy with any of them.

Is the 300 Blackout barrel for an AR or ??????? -
Very nice! I built my 260 on a long action for versatility. I have taken it to 1070 yards so far. I want to build another one in 300 Blackout for close quiet fun.

Maybe it's getting hot. It may have some sort of thermal protection on the motor. Where do you have it set up?

I got tired of packing my 15lb custom around on hunts so I decided to get a dedicated lightweight hunting rifle. I went with a Tikka T3 Superlight in 7mm RM. I topped it with a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 in Talley lightweight rings. It weighs 8.5 lbs as it sits with 3 rounds in the mag. Going to shoot 150gr Barnes TTSX's and have a couple pounds of Retumbo to start with. Plan to use this as a mid range (600 yards) elk and deer rifle. I really like the feel of this rifle and hope is shoots as good as others I have seen. I plan to put it in a McMillan Gamescout eventually.

It is hard to find any info on the Superlights. I found a post from a guy that e-mailed Sportsmans back in 2012 and these are the calibers they listed as available in the Superlight....223, 22-250, 308, 30-06, 7mm RM and 300 WM. They might have made more available since then.

I have 1lb unopened that I don't need. A buddy picked it up on a whim so I could load him some 223's.......needless to say it has sat on my shelf ever since. I'll take 25 bucks for it. Im in Apache Junction but will be in Heber next weekend if you are willing to come get it.

+1 for Industrial Metals in Phoenix. I got a 12"x12" 3/8" thick for 25 bucks, a full size IPSC'ish torso target 1/2" thick for 120 bucks and bought a 6" round 1/2" thick and made a hostage flapper for the torso.
