  1. I could never get my Hornady thrower to produce consistent results with any extruded powder. I set it up to throw light of my final charge and use a trickler. With flake and ball powder it is consistent. The trickler I use..... http://www.midwayusa.com/product/487186/redding-5-powder-trickler My RCBS Chargemaster will be here Thursday and cant wait to use it. While hand trickling works, it is slow. Loading 100 rifle rounds takes forever.

    Reload accessory tips?

An overall length gauge is what you are talking about and it will let you know how long your chamber is so you can seat your bullets accordingly. You can make one easy.....just take a case that has been fired in the rifle and screw your sizing die down to where it sizes the neck just enough to hold a bullet. You want the bullet to slide in and out somewhat easily but have enough tension to keep it in place. Slide the bullet in the case and leave it long, then stick it in your chamber and close the bolt. Eject the case being careful not to move the bullet.....measure and record. It takes some trial and error to get the right tension right but it's free. Check multiple times until you get consistent readings.

    Barnes LRX bullets?

Never shot the LRX's but the TTSX's are my "go to" bullet for hunting. Barnes makes good stuff.

    Reload accessory tips?

Reloading is fun but can be tedious, especially if precision is your goal. I have a lot of $ invested in my setup and could easily spend another 1500 right away to make my life easier. Everyone starts somewhere and attention to detail is paramount. The kit you picked up will serve you well for a long time. Hornady makes good stuff and has good customer service. The first things would be a good case trimmer, vibratory cleaner and calipers. I prefer dial calipers and have a nice Starret set. Stainless tumbling is definitely the way to go when you are ready. If you are somewhat handy you can build one and have something stronger than the ones on the market. I built my own after looking at my buddies cheap Thumblers model B. What cartridges are you starting out with?

    Cerakoted a couple guns

Time depends in what it is. I had a couple parts that took forever to "gas out". You have to soak the parts in acetone and then bake at 300 degrees to get any oil to seep. If any parts seep oil you have to resoak in acetone and bake again. Repeat the process till the oil is gone. The ejection port door on the AR went in the oven 4 times and the barrel on the Mossberg went in 7 times. After that it was just spray and bake to cure. Money is another story. All it cost me was Cerakote ($70) and acetone ($32). The only piece of equipment I didn't have is a sand blaster, but I have access to one. You would need a compressor, mini hvlp gun, filters and an oven.

    My new 6mm Creedmoor

I had a custom Savage in 260 that was the most accurate rifle I ever shot. I loved that rifle but it was still a Savage and after a while I wanted something more. I sold it and this is the end result. Deviant S/A AW cut Bartlein 5R 8 twist @ 20 " in 6 Creedmoor XLR Element Timney 510 Vortex PST for now LRI did the barreled action, and the turn around was fast. (It would have been faster but the post office lost my stuff on the way to LRI.) Nick at XLR was great to deal with. Got my barrel and action from Greg at SPR (Bugholes)......super nice guy.

    My new 6mm Creedmoor

I had a 24" barrel on my 260 but wanted to go shorter because of the suppressor. I chose 6mm because I could get more velocity out of a smaller bullet and sort of make up for 4" less barrel. Trajectory is flatter and rifle is more manageable. Less recoil too......makes spotting hits/ misses easier.

    My new 6mm Creedmoor

Did some shooting today and boy am I rusty. I haven't shot since September I think and it shows. Good thing practicing is fun. I tried 6 loads today from 40.5 to 43 grains of H4350 with 105 Amax's. I think my upper node is around 42.5 so I will load more in .2 grain increments from 42.2 to 42.8 and then play with seating depth. I had some time till I had to get the kids from school so I decided to stretch it out. I loaded up a few at 42.5 and hit the desert. My chronograph gave me an average of 2960 that put me a half minute low at 517 yards. Corrected and shot this group.......just under 5" with the flyer. Corrected velocity is 2900 flat.
