Pick a headstamp and stick with it. Do not mix brands. Weigh them and record the brass content. I can tell you that Federal always has higher brass content than Rem, Win, Nosler. Hornady is similar but not quite as heavy. Plus, not a huge fan of Hornady brass. I like Nosler for the fact that is is pretty much ready to go, and has great consistency. Usually about 1gr across 100 pieces. But, new brass and factory loaded rounds have shown big differences in weight variation. A Nosler factory loaded round's brass could be as much as 20 grains different than a box of new brass. I have found that the case head area is fairly soft, and if you are running hot loads, expect brass to last about 5-7 reloads before losing primer pockets. Remington and Winchester are pretty long lasting. But you usually need to buy about 20% more than you want to load to cull cases out of weight spec. Plus, you will have to settle for about 3 grains of weight difference vs. 1gr like Nosler, Lapua, Norma, etc. I have some Rem .300RUM brass that has been fired 8-10 times and still going strong, and always run hot. Also, my 6.5SLR uses Rem .243 brass. Some of those cases have been fired 9-10 times and still working great.

I can't believe I haven't posted this here. A couple years ago, my brother and I were varmint hunting. We were sitting about 50 yards from a power pole. We heard what sounding like a .22 pop behind us, then a thud. Walked back, and this raven had landed on a power line, and tried to get a dead sparrow that had previously grounded itself out and electrocuted himself. Well, the raven made the same grounded connection. It was super wild to hear it happen right behind us. Blew off both of his legs, burn marks on the feet, sparrow leg still in his beak.

I got new shoes on my work truck this Monday. Selling the take-offs. Stock Dodge CTD 2500 4x4 Off-Road Ram. Tire size 275-70R18. Firestone Transforce AT. 60-70%, 11,715 miles on them. No plugs, not leaks, no major chunks out. Probably 90% highway miles, 10% dirt roads for work. Towed a 20' flatbed about 3000 miles on them to N CA a few times. Truck was new and bought late November. About 3 months old. $200 all 4 tires North central Phx area, I-17 & 101 area.

I use SB dies in my .223 AR15. Never once had a feeding issue. My brother has the same rifle, and uses a regular FL die, as he has a bolt gun in .223 as well. Only one time has he had to use the forward assist in his AR that I can recall.

Buy the Big Bo access permit. No use limiting yourself to only using 40% of the unit by NOT doing so. I have never hunted the unit, so I cannot give any specific advice. If you need help packing out game, let us know. I am sure I could be convinced to jump in a truck and be up there in 3 hours...
