    FREAK BULL

Looks very possible to me. The front of the 3rd base looks the same, orientation of the pedicles, and basic overall structure. Heavier in 2 years and from a terrible year (2017) to a phenomenal year (2019) of course changes the mass.

    SOLD-----6.5 Creedmoor

These Savage Axis 6.5CMs shoot very well. I bought my older daughter one and did load development for it....shoots sub-half MOA @ 200 yards with 130 OTMs. And it is all factory with a 3-18×44 Vortex Strike Eagle.

As with a lot of people complaining about "bullet failure" blowing up when you hit an elk femur, this is not equipment failure. It is shooter failure. Don't aim for the leg/shoulder. Aim for the crease. Can't hit where you want to? Don't shoot.

I have seen mechanicals at work.....and they work. I use cut on contact broadheads, but mechanicals do work very well.

Woman admonished for putting injured bobcat in SUV

I can understand trying to help an injured animal. I have done it on a few occasions. I picked up and bundled up a Red-tailed hawk and a Great Horned owl and took them to rehab. Have also possibly maybe probably not no way dispatched car-struck elk/deer and a few other small game/varmint type critters. But, I would not put an alert but injured big cat in the back of an SUV with a young child! That lady got lucky not getting any injuries herself while getting it into the car.

If he has a bull down already that he has failed to recover.... Waste of game, taking game over the bag limit, being an asshat....

    Turn back tag question

Dude, unless it is a medical issue....this is NOT the year to turn in an elk tag!!!
  12. Depends on the rail and action. You can usually tell pretty quick if the rail fits correctly. If it does fit well, I do not feel the need to bed it. I do not think it has effected accuracy that I have noted. Higher quality rails have never given me any issues. Seekins, NF, Badger Ordinance, EGW, etc.

    Youth hunting round

Muzzle brake. All the way. Taylor has been shooting (on occasion) my .300RUM since she was 11. And the 6.5SS is a pea shooter with one.

You, as a fellow hunter, should have told him to STOP after #3 at the latest. This is just asinine.

12AW Early Hunt- When does it Snow?

Shut. Up. The bucks go down as soon as it hits 55°. You should totally stay down low.....the whole time.... I agree, not really snow that pushes them down. Unless it is 2'+. Frozen solid water sources, frozen browse, missing ladies. I have seen it snow as early as Sept., and sometimes in November/December, there is still no snow. Depends on the year. Not really a whole lot to speak of on the early hunt. A few inches to a foot in some years usually. Not enough to push. But on occasion, they can get hammered in October. Play it by ear, keep tabs before the hunt, and plan accordingly for ALL weather conditions.

Yeah, I don't mean the second "miss". Trust me, I have missed plenty. One evening in a treestand, I missed a coyote, turkey, AND the biggest buck I have ever released an arrow at. I meant 2nd animal I hit and did not recover. (Knock on wood) I have been lucky to this point to have never hit and not recovered a big game animal. (Doves don't count). The first hit and never found animal, I would look for a minimum of 48 hours. And more than likely keep an eye out for birds even after that while hunting the same area. I have been on an elk hunt (not my own) where the hunter shot a bull elk with a 7RM from approximately 80-100 yards. Bull took off at the shot. Luckily, 12 hours of fresh snow was on the ground, making tracking easy. In 4+ miles and 4+ hours, I found a single drop of blood. Found a spot when he bedded in the snow, nothing else. Finally merged in with a bunch of other tracks and he was gone. Looked for 2 days for him and birds. I have no clue where the shot hit to this day. I am certain he survived. I have also been present on two different bulls that had old arrows completely through the chest cavity and had healed around them. One was just a shaft, the second had a broadhead stuck in the offside rib that has a mass of hard tissue that had formed around it. Sometimes, elk are just hard to kill. I have been called from buddies in the field that could not find game and made a trip up as far as 6 hours to help look. I am 3 for 4 in recovering their game.
