For $25.00, I will take it. Even $250 is pretty good. -
Barrel Length 101
lancetkenyon replied to Western Hunter's topic in Western Hunter and Elk Hunter Magazine
I call BS on some of the findings. I went from a 28" to 22" in my 6.5SLR. Both 1:8". 28" 140 HVLD, 43.0 H4350, 2940fps 22" 130 OTM, 43.4 H4350, 2888fps The numbers don't lie. 10gr less bullet weight, .4gr more powder, and still lost 50fps with a 6" shorter barrel. -
I see no powerlines....

FS: Chris Reeve knives large sebenza 21 Titanium ( The Catch )

Was it made by Christopher Reeve, while wearing his Superman suit, sitting in his wheelchair, with his laser eyes? -
I use my Cabelas Card every year. But...I always call them before I start applications to tell them to expect 6-10 charges for AZGFD in a row. Never had an issue.

Berger VLDs Let Me Down - Suggestions???
lancetkenyon replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have witnessed this firsthand. Was hunting up on the Kaibab and had glassed up a bachelor herd of ok bucks. Nothing I wanted to shoot however. Another hunter came by on a quad and asked if we were seeing anything. Told him we were actually looking at 5 bucks right then, but were probably going to pass on them. He jumped off, we showed him through our optics, and he got all excited. We told him the shot was 554 yards, and if he could make the shot, we would spot for him. He got set up, and took the shot. The buck dropped instantly with a big puff of hair. The hunter jumped up all cheering, and I told him, "Shot was high, he is still alert. Put another one in him." He scrambled to get back down on the gun, and took another shot. "Missed right, shoot again." Boom. "Missed high, shoot again. Buck is trying to get up, make it count." Boom. "Missed high, he is getting his legs under him. Shoot him again". Click. Buck dragged his back legs down hill, got to the bottom, got feeling back in them, and was gone. I can only assume he clipped the spine enough to numb him. We went over to help look. Hair at the shot.location, not.a drop of blood. Followed the drag marks down the hill. No blood. -
Berger VLDs Let Me Down - Suggestions???
lancetkenyon replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
There is a big void in an elk that contains no vitals, above the back of the lungs and below the spine, where nothing exists to cause hydrostatic shock and force a bullet to open. A family member shot a bull one year, and during cleaning, we found an arrow in him through this vacant area. Entry would was completely healed over, broadhead was stuck in an off side rib with a big mass of scar tissue surrounding it. It would be like hanging two leather jackets on each side of a yoga ball. A bullet won't open if no resistance is met. -

Yeah, $245 w. Shipping, minus $55. In 9.5US. As seen here...(my old ones) Plenty of places had them for $180...but not in my size. Maybe for a little foot in 7, or a sasquatch in 14, but not for me.

I hope I get the call too. I will gladly give up my 25bps for that tag.

You suck! Wish you would have posted this 2 weeks ago. I just bought a pair of the 4D 3 GTX. My old Danners finally gave up the ghost on my pronghorn hunt, and left me with only one pair of uninsulated boots, these exact ones, size & color. I ordered a new pair of the 3s for $245 w. $50 in Cabelas points. Some of the most comfortable uninsulated boots I have ever tried on. Mine are covered in the blood of about 12 different animals. Makes them even better.

No way is he a "hybrid". 100% muley. I would shoot him in a heartbeat, archery OR rifle. Decent mass for a desert buck, decent length, good width. 150s in my opinion.

Awesome job!!!

Anyone have experience with a good hydrodipper in the Phoenix area? I have a rifle stock I need dipped. Wanting Multicam or Multicam Arid on a Manners EH1.

My older daughter started her archery hunting when she was old enough to pull a 40# bow, about 12 years old. Took a deer, javalina and an exotic with her bow before she turned 13. Never did get an elk tag, but we tried. 40# bow, cut-on-contact broadheads, and a state champion 3d archer = success on game. 51 yards in a tropical storm that dumped 6" in 24 hours.

A Taste of Black Friday Sale Weekend in September
lancetkenyon replied to gr8fuldoug's topic in Optics and tripods
So is it advertised sale price PLUS the instant discounts? Or are the instant discounts already in the advertised prices? -
Galaxy S10 Edge+. Love it. More expensive than a laptop though. But I use it for work and get $150/month allowance for it.

I do not own any. But I have shot 20+. Every Ridgeline I have shot (10+) has been very accurate. All half MOA or better with proper load work up. 6.5 CM, 6.5-.284 Norma, .280AI, 7RM, 28 Nosler, .300WM, .300RUM. I have shot 5 different Mesas. All were .75MOA or better with good handloads. Shot 3 Hunters, two were .75MOA Very picky. Two .300WM. Just finished a LH .300RUM that was very easy to load for, .21MOA @ 100 & 200 yards w. 215s. Will be taking it long to verify. Shot 3 Extremes. Meh, not impressed. Very finicky, .300WM & 7RM. Struggled to shoot .5MOA at best. .75MOA is more realistic.

lancetkenyon replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
215 or 230 Hybrid. Even at high velocity, they work great. I launch both at 3100fps+ MV. From 120 to 880+, they have dropped elk at the shot for us.
